My brother bought a Tilley back in 2000 and I finally purchased my first one. Received mine this morning, a blaze orange T3 cotton duck .. Ready to go out hiking, camping, hunting, and everything else life has to offer. Great video.

My 1992 vintage T3 model, like yours, had a blowout in the same location as yours. It had travelled from the Isle of Lewis to Patagonia. I just completely the warrantee for life filing to get a replacement. Can hardly wait!

Wow, David, that's some distance. Almost 30 years old. You'll love the new when it arrives but the they are different. They are twice the price (around £75) and don't come with the cards. Enjoy and stay safe 👍👍

It was a well used piece of kit. From a sink, to a water dish for a dog, sun shade for cameras. That hat was even used as erstwhile bellows for more campfires than I can count. Lost and found twice, it carries a lot of stories. In the past months I’ve seen some of the newer Tilley hats and had considered spending the money on a new one, but with a perfectly good Tilley I never could rationalise getting a second hat. I’m looking forward to the new hat. I’m sure it’s going to outlast me, then again it will be filled with new stories too.

I've owned Tilley hats for almost twenty years. I started with a T3 and have bought several since. My next one will be the paddler's hat. Good luck with your new Tilley! They make an awesome product and stand behind their guarantee!

I have 3 of them. The T3 wanderer, LTM6, and the T5. I love them all for different reasons and wear them according to the weather. They aren't cheap by any means but worth every penny.

I've just ordered my very first one. A T3. Will be using it to protect myself, from the sun, when I'm out in the field, photographing insects. Great video by the way

Thanks Mike, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. They are great in the rain too. One trick I love doing on a really hot day is to find a source of fresh water, dip the Tilley in and stick it on your head. Instant cooling. What colour did you order?

My favorite Tilley is the TH5 Hemp Hat. I've worn it for 14 years and I don't see many others wearing it which is unfortunate because it is a wonderful fabric. My other Tilley's are the TWC7 Waxed Outback (very durable) and a brand new LTM6 Airflow (just snuck it in the house last week ;) ).

@@laikatravels Tilly hats seemed to me I have three of them they put a little cheap thing in the crown no velcro anymore I think they're starting to cheapen their hats it's a sad thing

The old had will now have it's own spot on a hatstand at the home for retired Tilley Hats :-)

I really like my Tilley hat. I have a TV wanderer. I prefer the cotton to synthetics. What I really like is the hat is made in Canada , of course has British brass fittings . Pricey but worth every penny

Not something you would really want to leave in your will ! Kind of glad they took that line off the label. My hat went exactly like yours allmost like it has a built - in self destruct timer that disintegrates it after 15 years or so. Anyway I have a Paddler now. I hope the synthethic lasts longer.

I'm not a hat person but started to enjoy hiking and well.....now I need a hat. Did a bunch of research and Tilley is the way to go. My first hat will be a Tilley. I'm only waiting for it to come back into stock. Going to have them put the screen put in the grommets too. I'm oddly excited.

l have 4 tilley hats a t1, my every day a t3, l use often in the garden and on a boat and a t5 that really looks good for special occasions. a 2GT flat cap a tilley is the only hats that you can trust the size

Make sure you send off for the insurance. You'll need it if you loose it but not if it's worn out. I need to do the same. They are great for keeping you cool in hot climes. Just dip them in a river or stream and then wear it.

Just got a new one....they always look so fragile when new. So only one cure: wear them. Use them for all my outdoor projects FB kayak cobber This will be my third T3. Always does the work an hope they will keep up the high quality.

I like the new hat , my wife has bet me that you would try on the new types at the shows and would say like me My caps got loads left in it . I had the same bright red New York Yankees baseball cap for 30 years its in every photo of my kids when they were cute and it was thread bare and was referred to by all as that fecking cap . the end I "Lost it" for about 5 years only to suddenly turn up as we went to my sons wedding and once again the cheer of that fecking cap rang out

Herman the Hymer mine is called “outback” and hubbys is just called the “Tilley hat” 😁😁we are full timers in our teeny Eriba caravan, but plenty of room for our hats 😁😁😁

I have a T3 that I’ve owned for about 25 years. It has developed a hole in the same spot as yours, but mine has a few others in the crown. It’s also very tattered around the brim and has some permanent sweat stains. I decided not to go through the replacement process because I don’t want to surrender my old hat, and Tilley no longer makes the exact same version of my T3 (khaki with green underbrim). Instead, I have found a new (barely used) old stock T3 online that is just like my old hat. Cost was $22. Now I can hang my old Tilley on the wall as a reminder of all of the places I’ve been and things I’ve done with that hat on my head. I’m not sure how to post a photo in the comments section, I don’t think it’s possible, but maybe I’ll make a short video of my hat and post a link here. (If you’re interested). Enjoyed your video. It’s always fun to see other Tilley hats in the wild. Cheers!

I did notice some cost cutting on my new T3, Andy so it is slightly different than my original. I did think about getting a new one rather getting it replaced but then I thought that one reason I brought it in the first place was because I could get it replaced if it was lost, stolen or worn out for free - a hat for life. Now they are twice the price I paid for it a replacement was the best option.

This might be a silly question, but does your new hat have the same large label inside? I understand Tilley have started using a smaller label, which I don't like as well. Nice video and hat!

I’ve got a Tilly hat the brass ferrules corroded got in touch with Tilly but basically they didn’t want to know the hat looks cheap not the £55 I paid for it wouldn’t get another one

The brass went green and the hat looked shabby after only a couple of years so thought i it wasn’t worth getting another one didn’t use the returns form wasn’t told about it when I got in touch with them

Do you still have the hat? If it looks like it needs replacing or repairing you can fill the form in. You'd need to print it off of their website

Wow, just bought one of these on the strength of your video and must say what I have been sent looks nothing like yours, mine is floppy as shit and the brim is all rippley, nowhere near as crsip looking as yours. I wouldnt pay a tenner for this thing from a beach front shop, going back in the morning. Love the look of yours but mine is complete tat

Instead of tossing the old hat, why not just patch it up with a piece of textile cloth? The way it looked, it had much more character than the new one.

Lots of products are made in China now including Apple. My Tilley was made in Canada.
