It’s a year later is it still good?

How good is it cutting other wood from pine ? I’m thinking of getting this or the table saw

I got this saw and I really like it. It’s really smooth and accurate. Only complaint is the dust it makes this saw makes a mess.

Getting one of these...ill be doing a lot cutting on composite boards...will the blade be okay?

I have this in the box still after buying it last year. Needed it for small shelves and hobby projects but wood got expensive and now I’m finally getting ready to use it. Mine has an led light but you didn’t mention that. I worry about dust and the loudness since I live in an apartment

I have a ryobi but the angle guide is now missing how can I get a new one???

I just got this saw but my complaint is the fence, one of the holes to attach a wood fence for a stop block is behind the fence bolt so you can’t use it. They should have made the fence higher and set the holes higher. It is good for the price though.

Ryobi for the win. When you were cutting that 2 x 4 it looks like I saw a shadow line on the wood when you pushed the saw blade down towards the wood and the blade cut right where that line was. Maybe I'm hallucinating check it out. Peace brother

Could this cut 4x4?

I just got it unboxed and can't wait to try it for my crown moulding job......Got it for $ 169 at Home Depot....

I currently (not for long) have the 10" sliding version. I was trying to cut some miters and could not get the gapless fit on some table leg supports.... Then I put a square on the cut... It was about 7-8 degrees out (up and down) and the crappy little green plastic indicator was pointed at 0° so I start trying to fix it and the little adjustment screw breaks off because I was trying to adjust it beyond it's capabilities

I think you have hit on your hands with that song😁🎶. I have the Ryobi 10in sliding mitre saw. It's weird because angles the left are correct but to the right are off at the stops. This saw cuts nice like.

Just bought a reconditioned one for $80. Looks new actually. I'm a weekend wood worker nothing serious making a let gate right now and doing fence repair stuff. I couldn't justify buying a $500 saw. Happy camper.

I'm with you. I need to redo part of my deck and instead of hiring it done, figured I could hack it. Borrowed my neighbors' miter saw and thought "this is the way to go." Went and picked this model up tonight.

I have a blue one thats at least 10 yrs or more i think, that also has the adjustable left or right front stop. I use it for renovations, furniture, firewood etc., and it still works great. A bit of a mess to clean up afterwards though lol.

It's only good for 2x4 though. I understand it has its place but if you only have room for one saw?

Upgrade it with Diablo 60 tooth blade and you will love cutting wood!!! I couldn’t stop cut touching the finish after every cut!

This test is only if you want to saw with a precision miter saw. (not for rough work). Tips and Test: Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a vertical line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact / Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH. (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). (If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed). Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing (test is completed). Step-4. therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned vertical in line above the saw blade. Conclusion: how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing.(don't go for that). Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff in line a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner...

I'm going to buy one of those tomorrow at home depot its the replacement of my craftsman because I can't find any part's for it at all.

I'd like to purchase my first miter saw, and have been looking at Ryobi. Can't seem to decide on this compound miter version, or the one that has the sliding feature, which costs $219. Of course, the sliding feature will let you cut larger boards, but will also take up more space. (Not sure the exact depth dimensions) Anyone have any thoughts as to what would be the better purchase?

For a first mitre saw, 10” should be more than enough

Just got this saw today. Going to unbox tomorrow . Hoping it will make making cradled art panels for my art easier than the stupid miter box.

So does it cut a 4x4?

1:15 'And when they stop, they stop' Not the one(10" sliding, not the one on the video)on display in HD which had a play of 2 degrees on each positive stops, because of differently designed locking. Look under and will see it's different from the rest of better brands. So you have to screw and unscrew the handle each time you change the angle to remedy that.

I'm planning to build a new desk soonish, and will need a miter saw. Was looking at the 10" DeWalt, but this is a lot cheaper. Is this Ryobi good enough for a deck build?

It will be fine, but if you plan on building 20 decks go with some more heavy duty. Basically this is what this saw is made for, but it your a professional, you need it to be more heavy duty

I just pick this up today and yes it has a shadow indicator. The reviews on the HD website were pretty good, but Ryobi is a home owners tool so take it for what it is. I'm an Electrician by trade so don't need a pro one, just something to tackle small projects around the house. The LED he talked about is mounted on the front of the upper blade guard in the black plastic housing you can see in the video, and shines straight down onto the blade. From the little bit I played with it today, even in the evening sun, I could surprisingly still see the shadow, and it did cast a pretty sharp line. Only more use will tell how useful and accurate it really is. Out of the box I did have to make adjustments to bring everything square, so definitely put a square on it before use. Since this is my first compound miter saw, I can't really comment on anything else until I use it more. It is a pretty jumpy little beast though!

My Ryobi will not cut walnut. I tried to cut a 3/4 inch board and it cut only a fraction of the way. Is it just the blade that came with it?

As a beginner wood worker should I go with a Miter or a Table saw first? I recently just purchased a Circular 7 1/4 DeWt cordless saw. My wife is wanting me to build some rustic farm style benches. I also already have a cordless drill and impact driver. Any replies welcome.

Tool Review Zone I went with a Craftsman 10” local pickup for $75. Really solid saw.

I've been borrowing a friends Delta miter saw for the past 12+ years, (it also has that front clamp). My projects have become more frequent so I'm looking into my own. Even though my projects included wine racks, a bar, and even cabinets for a kitchen island, I consider myself a beginner. Especially since I'm just finding out the miter saw has a tilt feature...LOL! This Ryobi seems right for me and it's budget friendly. Thank you for the review! You made a point to mention that it's not brushless, how does that differ from others?

You would just need to replace brushes every once in a while which is easy to do and cheap to buy. The Brushless motors are also a bit more powerful

I have never in 55+ years had to replace brushes in any "universal" AC brushed motor tool I have personally owned--many years ago we used a number of Craftsman 7" right angle grinders in a production line environment, 16 to 24 hrs/day--the brushes were good for over a year before needing replacement. HF usually provides a set of spare brushes with their corded tools, i have a small drawer full of them that i have never needed...

Been great. I use this a lot and it still runs awesome. Still having issues with it locking in the down position like mentioned in this video, but other than that, I love it 👊

Yea i have this saw the dust bag sucks but the saw itself performs wondfully (I don't use the dust bag anymore, waste of time)

I just bought one used for $60! Is it worth it? Unfortunately no clamps with it.. and the blade is dull! LOL Blades $5...

I have one. I can’t get it to cut a 45 degree cut. I tired almost everything. And I changed to blade too. Maybe a got a lemon.

Tool Review Zone I tried everything I could think of. Used levels, squares, even made sure my squares were square. It cuts 90 fine, but won’t cut a 45. I played with for 3 days.

Last year was looking for a budget 10 inch miter and was torn between this one and the kobalt from lo 🤢. Low🤮 Lowes🤮🤮🤮 and ended grabbing that kobalt just bc it had a few more features. That Ryobi looks pretty decent though

Welp, you sold this saw today, so you need to report to Ryobi to get your cut. Anyway, the decision for me had a lot to do with weight. I have a disability, and use either one or two crutches depending on the situation, so heft does makes a difference. I looked longingly at the 12" when I was at HD, but in the long run, this will serve most if not all of my diy needs, and the size as well as weight looked more manageable. Thanks for the review, sir. You really did help me. Ninja edit: I loved the song, too.

That's a load of crap. The only thing those handles do is mess up your wrist after using the saw a lot. People use the saws like the Dewalt Bosch, Makita, etc. with the horizontal handle all the time for precision work and finish carpentry with no problems. You just have to not be an ape when you use it. In fact, most of the popular brands of saws only come with the horizontal handle.

Ryobi makes great tools but I would whole heartedly advise against any 10” non sliding miter saw. I’ve had mine for years and it is the one tool I regret. Spend the extra money and buy a 10” or 12” sliding miter saw. Every time you need to cut board bigger than a 2x4, you’ll be glad you went the extra mile

I just sold a 12" "slider" I've had for 7 years, and bought this 10" Ryobi--in those years I think I crosscut something wider than 6" maybe 2 or 3 times..But, on stock that wide I'm pretty good with a SkilSaw with a decent blade...

I really like how you showed how accurate all the cuts were with this...Oh, wait, you didn't do any of that. The only thing you did was praise a very crappy saw for being able to cut through pine and having a terrible clamp that absolutely fails to Keep your wood clamped down.

I'm DIYer it works great accurate but the dust collection doesn't work at all

@@atom069 total nonsense. Ryobi is mid tier made with mid tier parts, regardless of where it's made. The DWS 779 is top tier, 1b to the 780. No other brand offers the level of performance or quality at that price. My original statement stands, and it has nothing to do with 'Dewalt people.' TTI produces Milwaukee to compete with Dewalt, so your statement doesn't even make sense. Dollar for dollar, the 779 beats any Ryobi. I have this Ryobi and my 779 is better in every way, including price point.

Actually "Japanese people can't pronounce R and L correctly. They don't exist in Japanese. It is not, as was asked of me once, a genetic defect. Japanese people who spent their childhood years in an English speaking country can pronounce both sounds fine ...The Japanese version of the 'rrr' type of sound, the ra ri ru re ro (ら　り　る　れ　ろ) row in the phonetic hiragana alphabet, is somewhere between R and L. So, 'rice' gets pronounced 'lice', 'balloon' as 'baroon', etc. -a Japanese blogger So Technically your wife is right and wrong at the same time.

Dust collection sucks so badly..

Ryobi miter saws are terrible. None of the castings are machined properly. They will work okay for things like framing or flooring but with furniture or trim the low quality becomes obvious.

Ryobi = crap. They don't even have a quality control system to ensure their products are not shipped with defects!

If you're a contractor, you'll skip 10" blade saws. 216mm and 305mm saws are all you will need. Tested and proven by years in the trade. Don't waste your hard earned money on something in between like this.

@@Stay-vigilant For me it's straight forward. 216mm for small trim jobs and or 2x2's and such materials. 305mm for bigger crown molding, 4x4 or bigger materials. Something in between like 250mm saws will many times be too heavy or just too much for small jobs. On the other hand, 250mm or so saws maybe too small for bigger jobs or material. Having a 216mm and a 305mm saw for me just makes sense and saves time and money. I never have needed anything in between, but when I did, I needed a 305mm saw, not 250mm. In fact everyone I know who owns a 250mm saw is always asking to borrow either of my saws LOL.

If you work on a job site everyday, you would be laughed off the site with this. Nice saw but this is a home owner tool, not a professional tool.

I'm a contractor for home rehaps working with realities everyday I use Ryobi I love them never had a problem never got laughed off a job site yet difference of opinions I guess however my Ryobi tools have paid for theirselves numerous times I have had other contractors want to use my tools several times over their expensive tools it's a preference and opinions is all it is no different then Ford vs Chevy bullshit

In my experience, the only people that get laughed at on the jobsite are the people that don't know what they're doing. Maybe that was your issue? I've done thousands of cuts with this saw, and the only thing I laugh about is how I could have paid $2-300 more for a yellow miter with no slide and 1000 less RPM's.
