Hi Anika, Very happy so find a woman doing woodworking! I subscribed right away. I see you have mouthbreathers commenting. I'm here for good content and good vibes.

She’s also smart, engaging, likable and respectable, but fuck that let’s focus on looks, right?
Best video I’ve found for true beginners. I literally went through 10+ videos before finding this one, wasting maybe 2 hrs of my life over the course of 2 days just to find a TRULY beginner video. The other ones assumed I knew the basics already, then why did they call them miter saw for beginners video!? Thank you!!
Wonderful explanation of the kerf! Finally, someone who knows how to explain clearly and concisely without bothersome music or quick cuts. Thank you so much.

I agree… I thought the same thing.
Finally. A clear concise, informative instructional video on the use of a Miter Saw. I only had to watch it once and completed my project without a hitch. Thank you Anika. Some of these folks making videos need to realize that just because you can operate a specific tool, doesn’t mean you’re the best person to teach how it’s used. I had to subscribe.
Incredibly clear! Thanks! I just bought a miter saw, read the manual, and wanted to see some safety tips. Your explanation of things is really well-organized, and you summed up all the elements that I slowly pieced together from many different sources -- yet, you did it all at once. Also, awesome to see a woman doing woodworking and breaking the stereotypes! As a male, I first started with sewing and am now interested in woodworking. As Nick Offerman once said, "I feel like everybody, across the spectrum of sexuality, should be able to use a screwdriver or know how to change a tire. You know, things break. Those of us know how to fix things when they break just end up being better, more responsible members of our community.”

Looking to buy a mitre saw but only want a cheapish one have you any suggestions 🤔 and what shall I look for when buying one.
I've used other (10" saws) previously and was pretty surprised with the speed and cutting ability of this Dewalt saw.I have bolted mine to a table to minimize movement which I highly recommend. This is a Great saw kzread.infoUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe with a light to see your cutting line (not a laser line).I'd recommend this saw fro anyone looking to upgrade from a 10" miter saw.
Wow, I just bought my first miter saw a few weeks ago and picked up a miter stand on Prime Day. I've used neither, but have visions of crown molding, as the crown molding in my home is done so very poorly. I knew that the kerf is the thickness of the blade, but I hadn't really thought of the impact on measurement. I am a fiend about measuring, so now I know why my cuts are a bit off. I also hadn't known that I should cut the ends off the lumber I buy. Again, a great tip that is probably something that everyone knows except us beginners. Thanks!
KERF! I had never heard the term, but had always wondered about accounting for the blade width. Thank you!
Thank you for your clear, to the point explanation. I’m a 54-yr old woman from The Netherlands and love to create AND restore things myself. As a young girl my Dad took the time, again and again, to teach me how to DIY things myself. One of the main reasons for learning it myself, is that it gave me so much more independence in my adult life. Another is the amount of money I save is also huge, since I don’t have to call some handyman each time something needs fixing! In turn, I have shared with my daughter, who is 25 yrs old now, all MY knowledge about things in life, including what I know about DIY. In my view, that’s just a normal part of the upbringing of kids, so every parent should do this.

Just bought my first miter saw to level up my DIY projects and this video helped A LOT. Thank you for taking the time to explain the kerf, too. Appreciate it!
I feel so much more confident and ready to tackle this flooring project! I've never done anything this big before. Thank you for your help!
Great video, thanks for making a clean video with quality audio and a good camera . Not a lot of instructional videos this well produced in the DIY space
I don't know what took me so long to find you. Every question I had was answered and I thank you for the encouragement and knowledge. My confidence level is soaring!
Ty this was so helpful. I haven’t used a saw since woodworking class in grade 7. Lol. I have a few projects I want to do so this is an awesome start!

Thank you for your video! I found it very helpful. My boards have always been a little short, but I couldn't figure out why, until you explained the kerf and also shared your tip on cutting the ends of the boards.
I've watched dozens of miter saw tutorials and this is the first that mentions the kerf. You're a lifesaver. Thanks!!
I'm glad you explain in a way I understand. Thank you.
Loved your video- I was looking for ‘how to use a mitre saw’ and yours is the most helpful in the least amount of time spent. Thank u!

That Kerf explanation was perfect. I was having trouble with getting correct cuts and now I understand how to fine tune the cutting. Thanks a bunch. looking forward to more of your videos :)
Im in Puerto Rico and new to all this thank you for your help I’m now making a list of what I’m going to buy
Your advice about the kerf is invaluable. Yours was the only KZread video about miter saws that addressed the kerf! Thanks!

I was almost giving up on finding the right information about how to use a miter saw, but then I came across your video. Thanks for bringing out the basics in such a basic way👍🏾
Anika, thank you so very much for this tutorial. This is exactly what I need to know to get started. Very informative and straight forward. Thank you again.
Thank you for mentioning the KERF. I've watched so many videos on what they do using the miter saw and no-one has ever mentioned the KERF or even which side of the line to cut. Excellent information. Don't stop with the small details. They mean a lot. New sub here.

Good job explaining the kerf, easily understood. Went to another DIY video of a familiar gentleman and after 10 seconds came back to you. Thank you for explaining like your audience are newbies who asked a question instead of people who are already in the trades. I'm going to watch again; repetition is the mother of learning.
This was super helpful!!! Definitely have a new subscriber.
Thanks for the tips!! Bought my first mitre saw and cant wait to get started on my deck
What a great beginners video. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Well done! Just bought my first miter saw and really appreciate this intro.
Thank you for this!! I’ve used all sorts of saws and power tools but for some reason a miter saw makes me a little uneasy, thank you for this video and helping me understand how it works more! 😄
Thank you. A very helpful video. I hate when people try to teach how to do something, they make assumptions on what you know. You explained things very well without making any assumptions. I am going to attempt to put down some baseboards and this is very helpful.
I have the cordless type and still familiarising myself with it. Great video. And great to see more ladies out there getting into the DIY scene.
Great video, Liked the your way of explaining things. I can hardly wait for the other videos on the other power tools. Thanks.
Thank you for a comprehensive tutorial on how to make cuts. I also appreciate you covering the kerf concept.

So glad I came across your channel! Thanks for making this video clear and easy to follow
Thank you! So grateful to see a woman working with power tools. Have requested a miter saw for Christmas and look forward to learning more from you in the coming weeks.

This is very informative. I have ordered my first miter saw and I have never used one before and thought it would be a good saw to have for basic board cutting etc. This video really helped me understand the basics I will need to know. Thank you.
The first thing my Dad taught me when using power tools is ALWAYS know where your hands and feet are! LOL!

Very true. My grandpa lost part of his thumb on the table saw. Never use power tool if you are tired or under influence of beer or alcohol. I sometime like to drink beer doing wood working but aware on how much I consume. I need to get dust mask, not covid mask.
Thank you so much, you taught me a lot about miter saw‘s. I just bought my first one to do a house project and I’m more of a visual learner so this helped very much.
THANK YOU for explaining kerf so simply! I saw other videos where the instructors seemed to just assume everyone knew what a kerf was.
Thank you! Very well explained and recorded. Clear and concise. To the point is what I like 🙂
Thank you so much for the video. You explained the material very well. This video is very much appreciated.
Thank you for the straightforward video!! Explaining kerf clearly was so helpful too!
Surprised by very thorough information provided by Anika. You explained in 'layman terms' various jargon terms associated with the miter saw, thanks a lot ...
Many thanks Anika you have explained the safe use of the maitre saw that is so easy to understand.
This is the most thorough, yet succinct guide to using a miter saw! I never knew about the kerf. Thank you so much for this video!
Brilliant Anika, I teach students and know just how hard it is to get it right and you do , along with an Infectious enthusiasm. Am off to buy my saw and get a job done that my wife has wanted me to do but I have been reluctant no knowing how to use this saw. Thanks a million
Thanks for this straight to the point, no fluff, easy to understand video. Great job.

You are so welcome!
Finally someone who is able to make woodworking understandable and who explains ‘basic’ concepts(concepts like kerf, use of tools,…). I finished my first year of woodworking and….stopped. Not because I don’t like wood(working) anymore, but because - as the months went by - I felt not talented, having difficulties with a lot(in fact almost everything). So I lost the fun, got discouraged…Now with these videos I feel enthusiastic again. Thank you so much Anita to give me self confidence in woodworking again.
Great video, your very easy to listen to and explain at a good pace. I look forward to watching more from you 😁
Great video. Lots of good and useful information for beginners. Very nicely explained. Thanks a lot!

Thank you so much I’ve never used a miter saw I am getting ready to take an online woodworking class and no absolutely nothing so this video was fantastic and exactly what I needed. I am very excited about looking at the rest of your content. Thank you so much again
You are a good teacher. I learn a lot from your teachings. I enjoyed every inch of you video tutorial. Thanks for post such informative video.
Great job on the video! 😃 Lots of valuable information! 👍🏻👊🏻
Absolutely love her! I’m a beginner interested in woodcraft this video was very educational. Very thorough and pleasant to listen to.
Excellent instruction. Looking forward to using mine soon! Thank you :)
Very helpful!! I'm a lone Lerner so I rely on videos like yours. I am engaged on a huge project, it is a house that I bought. I did torn the whole inside down with zero knowledge of how to fix a thing, so far it's been two years and I got electricity done, gas line done, insulation done, 70,% drywall done and this days I'm working the bathroom and kitchen cabinetry. It's amazing what I've done. Thanks for your video
Thank you, I just bought a miter saw and your explanation was simple and not boring to watch, again, THANK YOU
Thank you. Amazing simple explanation with lots of crucial information in one video! I am a subscriber now.
Thank you Anika, for a very informative, clear and easy to understand video. I did not know about the ends needing to be cut straight! Jus one of the things I learned from this video.
You’re so detailed! I love it. I’m just having problems because I don’t have anything to place the saw on. I’m so new to this.
Just purchased my first one and you really helped me understand how to use it!!! So excited!
Quite literally getting ready to lay some laminate flooring. Just bought a dual bevel, sliding miter saw with a 12" blade and had no idea how to use it. I'll be cutting those, along with doing miter and bevel cuts for the quarter round. Thanks!
Very knowledgeable with excellent descriptions of miter saw basics. Thanks you, Anika!
I thought you explained the KERF concept very well, thank you!
Thanks for sharing! I just got my 12 inch ryobi today and looking forward to using it now!
Great video. I am buying a radial saw tomorrow, I enjoy building shutters , picture frames and trim molding.
You are an excellent teacher! Thank you for making these videos.
I loved your comprehensive guide Anika! Thank you so much. 🤗

Thank you so much for your explanations. I purchased a miter saw almost 2 years ago and have finally opened the box due to loss of energy & being nervous about actually using this. I laughed when you said this was your first power tool purchase, mine was a sander. I feel way more confident now. Thank you again.
Love this woman! So helpful! Can’t thank you enough!
Most helpful video on miter saw! Thank you !!!
Great video, I am buying one tomorrow, no idea how to use it till I watched your video. It has been a great help. Thanks.
What's going on? I've just subscribed to a channel of a lady less than half my age showing me how to do stuff I was messing up before she was born!! This is good stuff. It's clear, concise, with no jokey and distracting BS and more genuinely useful info shown in 7 minutes than is usual from such videos. Great!!
You are the best. I have been afraid to try to use this saw. Thank you!
Thanks for the basics a mitre saw is my next power to I want to buy and you have explained it clearly I never knew that some of them can't slide and others do not bend both sides
Thank you so much for your DIY video on Miter Saw. You have been so helpful.
Thank you so much for the EXCELLENT explanation!! Just subscribed to your channel. Cannot wait to watch all your videos!!!!
I rarely comment on videos, but I have to say, this was one of the most pleasant to watch instruction videos I have seen on power tools. You spoke so clearly, the lighting was great, you were helpful and enigmatic, and touched on very important aspects that a lot of other videos tend to gloss over (mainly the kerf, I've never heard anyone actually mention that). I have plenty of experience using other power tools, but I wanted to research and see if there's anything different about a miter saw that I may not have considered. I just bought the 10" Ryobi compound miter saw with double bevel and laser line, and am about to use it for cutting trim pieces for a screened in porch that I just built. I honestly wish I had purchased this before I built the main structure! Cutting lumber with a circular saw takes so much more time than it would have with this, lol. Anyways, thanks so much for such a helpful beginner video! I am definitely subscribing to see more from you.
I realize this video is more than two years old now, but I just got my first mitre saw (can't wait to use it!) and truly appreciate your detailed video on this tool. Thank you so much for sharing. I'm a Subscriber now :-)
