Pl'i was Zaheer's last earthly tether. Having lost her, he was no longer bound to the world. Aang could never, literally. bro loved too much for it. Laughed that you were so happy for pl'i's death, I think most of us gasped at first. She really didn't get much screen time but she seemed pretty cool so I figured she'd be his final ally remaining. I like when charismatic villains have sincere romances.

In fact i think Aang did it. In crossroads of destiny he went into avatar state with "letting katara go" and he start fling without any bending

@@johanluisrivas8016 l the avatars also said "kill ozai, it is the only option" but it wasn't. And guru said that this is the only way yet aang after chiropractor ozai set him right went into avatar state. So in my opinion this works that way: There is more than one way to get avatar state and guru shown aang his way by connecting with cosmic energy and letting katara go (also his explanation are really similar to teaching of guru laghima so if instructions are similar, effect is similar it is weird to call it something different :D ) And later aang learned the proper "avatar way" of going into the state. Aang just tried the guru way and get sho, yet he still was flying

So my understanding is since zaheer is so strategic, he wasn’t willing to give up his leverage incase they got ambushed and korra escaped like they had planned.

Zaheer wasn’t going to allow a gang of Airbenders to come after him. He still needed time to kill Korra in the cave.

The reason why this Book is my favourite one in the entire Avatar Universe. The hype it brings is insane! This whole book is just amazing from the villains to the bending choreography and then the animation. It's just a masterpiece. Can't wait for the reaction on the final episode!

Zaheer used the airbenders as bait for a trap. He wants Korra, but he also wants to keep her and prevent her friends from interfering. If he lets her squad continue to pursue him, it'll just be more trouble. His plan was to lure everybody into the temple for the Airbenders and then take them out, thus eliminating his pursuers. He may also want to preserve the Air Nation but also keep THEM from interfering. He's essentially keeping his opponents under control, or eliminating them while still sticking to his ideals.

Oh they're definitely going to take Pli hostage, in a very head-hearty way...

Yeah, P'li's head got turned into chunky salsa. Her death was messy, but at least it was quick. As for Zaheer flying, it was teased from the first episode of the season. P'li kept Zaheer grounded, literally. With her gone, there was nothing left for him to continue for. Sure, there's his cause, and while he was willing to die for the cause, he wasn't willing to live for it.

Love the energy this video.

When you really think about it Zaheer might actually be the single most gifted and powerful Air Bender in centuries. Hell Aang could only fly with a glider or in the Avatar State, Zaheer went full Superman, or in his case General Zod. Also P’li’s death scene honestly shocked me because I didn’t think Nickelodeon would approve of such a brutal death scene.

11:58 Aang did the same thing when he let go of Katara during the season 2 finale but Azula’s lightning and the healing that Katara did basically tethered him again. Also there’s a few sub bending with air but they’re usually for people way more spiritual like jinoras spirit projection or techniques that are too dangerous to replicate like the flying and void creation.
