at that point....it's no longer a mystery to call. the reason she jumped to that is because the show is preppin that to be the only option at that point. the shots tell the whole story - lava approaching, over and over, lava...Bolin...lava....Bolin...lava...Bolin. Bolin looking at the lava. Lava looking at Bolin. Sigh....but when you then REALIZE that these fools actually didn't even CONSIDER Lavabending to be an Earthbending technique???? It really IS a stretch.

Lavabending for earthbenders is like the phase changes waterbenders can make. Waterbenders control steam (gas), water (liquid), and ice (solid). Lava is just liquid rock.

I always figured it was more like how they compact the earth you see sometimes and the fragments of earth metal benders use. Basically just pulling and pushing the earth in on its self to create friction kind of like how electric magnetic fields heat metal useing induction.

@@GothJedi its not a mix thing it just requires proper temperature control, theyre accelerating the energy to the point it liquifies. similar to rubbing certain materials to start a fire. that's why you see Ghazan first lava bend by turning the rocks given to him into a beyblade. bending genes don't mix otherwise the avatar isnt really all that special

from what I read, they only showed the first season (maybe 2) on tv. After that they dropped the show and it was only available online. That's why seasons 3 and 4 are WAY darker and more violent than season 1 and 2, and I LOVE IT!

I was in an argument with dumb people about this. I kept telling them that zaheer is a master. They tried saying he isn't because he doesn't have tattoos 🤦🏽‍♂️....he's a master in skills. Beating the avatar, and other masters. Tenzi is the only one he had trouble with and that's because tenzin is not only a master, but he's just better skilled. There's levels to that shit when you're a master

@@destiny3992 Considering everything that's transpired in Ba Sing Se, I doubt the parents would let it be known that their child is the Avatar. They'd likely move out of Ba Sing Se considering the Dai Li in ATLA and the Earth Queen (and also the Dai Li) in LoK were fairly corrupt. Although if the Dai Li managed to find out that someone was harboring the Avatar in Ba Sing Se, then it's very possible that they could sweep it under the rug. Imprison the parents (or kill 'em off, wouldn't be the darkest thing to happen in Avatar), and have the Avatar grow up to be a weapon meant to serve the Earth Queen, or King, if corruption was still as present as it was before Wu had to take the throne (although, if I recall, Wu planned on having elections when he stepped down as King). 🤔

Kuviras has been seen and mentioned before -Her name was in the newspaper being promoted as the new head of security. -She was also one of the metal bending dancers when we meet Suyin. -She gave the orders to lock down the city for the night after Airbenders left Zaofu -Then she was the one running around giving info to the Beifong sisters about looking for the Red Lotus after the attempted kidnapping and Lin yelled at her to keep searching.

tbh they're not alone with that though,it confused me too. I always assumed for water they just remove some particles to lower the temperatur with their powers but creating lava out of nothing always seemed weird to me. basically as in: I can make ice too if I put something in the freezer but I doubt I can make earth-lava if I put some earth on a stove (I know it sounds dumb but just to give an example why ice seems easier achievable )

@@TbA500N Bolin's lavabending probably comes solely from his earthbending genes since no other person but the Avatar can be more than one type of bender. The Avatar has multiple elements because Raava carried the elements of air, water, and earth and transfered her energy to Wan by passing through him, changing him until he was able to control all four elements. He gradually became superhuman (even by this show's standards) and noticed the change as they kept practicing and she kept merging with him. When they permanently fused, she made his level of power and mastery in the elements become practically unlimited. Bolin's lavabending is probably just intense earthbending that applies heat and pressure to rock similarly to how waterbenders melt ice. Its rare because it's difficult to have that level of control (just as very few earthbenders have both the sensitivity to earth particles and personality to metalbend) and it's much harder to turn earth to lava than it is to turn ice to water. It's not because hybrids of multiple benders exist. An earthbender and firebender will produce a non-bender, a person who is solely a firebender, or a person who is solely an earthbender.

Azula was so angered and outraged that she lost to a waterbender that when she was released to go and find zukos mom she played it all like she was fine but when they were done and azula was free to live her own life she plotted and plotted deciding to have a kid with a waterbender in hopes of creating a waterbender with the bloodthirst of a firebender ....Ming-hua is Azulas child and the result of Azulas Rage and hatred for katara. Creating a killer offspring able to bend the element that azula lost too. Water

holy shit the fuckin action in this episode, probably the best it ever gets in either series, just watching how hype they were for all of it really wemade me realise that. and i routinely see the confusion about lava bending=something to do with fire bending, and even theories about bolin being able to do it because of his mixed parentage of earth and fire, but lava isnt a combination of earth and fire, it has nothing to do with fire, its pure earth, its just very, very hot.

yup. ATLA was the better arc because it was consistent from start to finish but LOK had the best book in the entire series. LOK Book 3 from beginning to end is epic on all levels

But that don't make any sense, lave has nothing to do with fire or lightning, it's just hot earth. like how waterbenders can make ice or steam. I think they even mentioned airbenders heating themselves to stay warm on their mountains It seems lava bending is more rare because you gotta heat up earth A Lot more to get lava than it is to turn water into ice.

No, because lava has nothing to do with fire, it’s just molten rock, it’s just the same thing water benders do with steam and ice, they can heat it up and cool it down, which is why they can lava bend

Except that's not how lava bending works. Lava bending was seen way back in ATLA. It's simply heating up earth until it turns molten. It has nothing to do with having a parent that can fire bend.

@@ironmatrixs748 Doubt it. There's nothing that states that having parents of different nations makes being a rare breed of bending easier. Lava bending is just making earth hot. There's no fire involved in doing this, so I don't think having fire bending and earth bending parents makes it any easier or harder to perform.

@@krazytreRTM lava bending wasnt seen in atla, it was the avatars who could control molten lava while in avatar state, they had to take the lava from volcanos

I literally get chills every time is see Korra STILL fighting non-stop even when she’s chained up. This episode gets me hyped every time I watch it.

This is by far the best reaction to sheera prediction magic I’ve ever seen lol the look on every bodies face with the lava bending

When everyone is mounting Lefty, part of the lava flow directly on the right of the opening goes nowhere and just ends halfway down the screen. In the first shot of Kuvira bandaging Tonraq's arm, the gauze is applied directly to the bicep. In subsequent shots, the gauze is coiled over a skintight sleeve that was not a part of Tonraq's shirt during the initial wrapping. When Oogi first comes into view, he does not have the saddle on him, but as soon as he lands, he does.

I think a cool theory about Lava Bending and why Bolin can do it, is that his mom is a fire bender and that helps him control his chi to heat up the Earth similar to how fire benders are able to naturally create heat and fire using their chi. This is somewhat supported by the fact that the only two avatars we see lava bend were born fire and earth benders respectively. We don't really know if Ghazan is half Fire Nation, half Earth Kingdom like Bolin but with 3 out of 4 the cross between fire and earth bending seems to be important

The reason Bolin can do that is because his parents were of both elements, Fire and Earth.

Remember the first thing Zaheer did to the lava guy was give him a rock to break out of his cell

I think that the reason why Bolin was able to lava bend instead of metal is because he's not a pure earth bender. It runs on one side of his family and fire bending runs on his other side.

Makes sense that Aang can't fly since you need true freedom and peace. Aang would never have that because he was avatar for his entire life and was constantly trying to bring peace to the world until the end.

Im just going to say something. Trigger warning here because I know some of yall will get triggered. Dont read it if you are going to get triggered because truthfully, Idc. If your feelings get hurt, that is your own. If you @ me you will get trolled or ignored😚 Anyways, what I wanted to say is to also take notice of the fact that it was the two men who were the first ones to make (rude) comments about it. People like to pretend its only women who are the issue when it comes to a man being shorter than the woman in a relationship or regarding when seeking out potential male partner. This is particular done by saying things such as 'if you are not 6'0 + a girl won't even look at you.' And that is definitely true for some girls. But men themselves also look down on (or poke fun at) relationships where the man is shorter (whether consciously or not). And this is often left out of the conversation. The shaming of shorter men in regards to romantic relationship happens on both sides. Lmao this was way too long and not that deep but I just made an observation and thought I would share.

It’s not some deep observation on Lupa’s and Roshi’s unconscious thoughts on short men though, it’s them roasting something for the hell of it, like they do with everything.

It makes sense that Bolin is a Lavabender. My sources tells that for a Lavabender to occur, there must be one firebender in a pure earthbending family. Mako and Bolin’s mother is a firebender while the father is an earthbender with a family that is mostly earthbenders. It makes perfect sense. If this is not cannon, then it is to me.
