Piccolo vs Kami was really cool. Not only was it awesome seeing Kami taking initiative, but this was also the earliest signs of their Namekian heritage

piccolo learned how to reverse it because that was his biggest weakness so he has every essence of his father, so he basically figured out a way to reverse the technique that hindered him

@@wo4488Yep. Piccolo Jr is essentially the same as Ubb. The same spirit but reincarnated into a new body. The only difference is the fact that King Piccolo bypassed the otherworld system and rebirthed on earth. This is also why Kami didn't die when King Piccolo died, since King Piccolo's spirit did not die and was reborn which is why Jr shares the same link.

@@thecoffeemainiak5400 I agree, although he’s a bit different than Uub in the sense that Uub is his own person. He has no memories as Buu, and simply possesses his cleansed soul. Junior is quite literally King Piccolo himself, and while this isn’t a perfect comparison, he’s a lot closer conceptually to Dr. Gero’s relationship to Android 20. My theory is that while Piccolo’s spirit was not cleansed, its pure evil qualities were lessened sometime in the process. That’s why Junior had potential to become good, while his old self did not.

Goku also learned to read minds after training in space for Namek, but he only used it once and had to put his hand on Krillin's head.

Junior is actually not just Piccolo Daimaos son. He is his reincarnation and has all of his memories.

Not quite tho, more like all the memories of Piccolo daimao were forced into Jr's conscience (because magic) hew not a reincarnation as in having the same soul, it was nost likely a desperate attempt from daimao to ensure his last son fulfills his last will

@@adumaxster01​​⁠​⁠​⁠Actually, he IS a reincarnation. Piccolo says so multiple times throughout DB/DBZ/DBS. He’s not the same person, but he still has Daimao’s soul. That’s why Kami didn’t die when Daimao was first killed; Kami’s other half of his soul lives on in Piccolo Jr. I think the reason people get confused is because Dragonball (at least the English dub) is a little inconsistent, with Piccolo referring to himself as both the son of his father AND reincarnation of the former. I mean it is technically true since Daimao gave birth to him, but it’s not an “either/or” scenario. Piccolo Daimao reincarnated himself into his own son.

Piccolo was well aware of the technique from his father's memory and devise a way to counter it

Piccolo did read Kami's mind, but only the part when Piccolo found out that Kami was thinking about the human body he borrowed, although Piccolo can't do this with everyone, and they are talking in Namekian language, that's why Chichi yells that she doesn't understand what they are talking, telepathy conversation did not happen with these strange voice effects it's just in the english Dub, while in the Sub they speaking Namekian, and Japanese after for the Subtitles. They don't know that it's Namekian, but only the language they naturally know.

The scene were Piccolo and Kami are talking with green filter and a bunch of strange typos appear as subtitle along them, is dubbed in the english version but in original dub (and the mexican dub that i watched as kid) they were talking in namekian, that's why Chichi said that she couldnt understand a single word coming from their mouths. Is a very interesting scene because the alien origins of neither, saiyans or namekians weren't explored up until this point, that would happen until DBZ with Radditz arrive, but this scene hinted to this mistery early on.

9:08 if you recalled in DBZ, when Dr. Gero grabbed Piccolo and silenced him so he can gather the energy, Piccolo uses his mind to communicate to Gohan on his position. Edit: Also, I don’t believe it’s intentional, but the background sky does resemble the sky from Namek.

Piccolo is that King P was 100% pure darkness/evil, but when you reincarnate you ARE weighed down and influenced a bit by your past life, but AS a reincarnated soul you have the same potential to do good and evil, a CHOICE. Honestly, if the plot allows, *_Mafuba_* (Evil Containment Wave) and *_Taiyoken_* (Solar Flare) are the most peaceful and effective combo ever!! The later works as a distraction, or disabler, and the first as the finisher. Imagine Frieza, Cell, Beerus etc, got *_Taiyoken_* + *_Mafuba_* to the face. Heck, put *_Sunkan Ido_* (Instant Transmission) before *_Taiyoken._* So hide, teleport to enemy's face, disable, and seal. Problem solved instantly!! Imagine Goku teleporting around the battlefield deleting problems.

I would say that Piccolo was surprised that Kami knew so much. How did he knew he was once another half?

Kami: If you do not commit 100%, you will fail and your race will die. Me: Joke’s on you. There are like less than ten if we count filler and movies.

Yeah. In the Tenkaichi weapons and tools are forbibben unless they are natural. Claws for example or Giran's Merry-Go-Round Gum. Nimbus was only allowed once due to the judge favoring it. It was quickly banned however. Seeing a presumably empty bottle likely caused the announcer to question for a moment but seeing how to a human an empty bottle serves no purpose it was allowed. ToP also had Roshi using empty bottles but the Zeno's liked it so it was allowed.

I think Piccolo Jr. has most of King Piccolo's memories; he basically cloned himself. Kami would've died along with King Piccolo when Goku defeated him. Otherwise, Krillin, Chiaotzu, Roshi, and all those who killed Piccolo and his minions, wouldn't have been brought back to life with the Dragon Balls.

You know, Namekian language is something that reappeared later in DBZ, but uh... It kinda stopped mattering just after they arrived to Namek? The place where it's supposed to be used? Like apparently everyone in the universe speaks the same language, but Namek decided to make one of their own for controlling their ships I guess. Also, where's that technology later? I guess after some time they turned into hippies or something.

Piccolo countered the Mafabu because he has a similar ability to Goku where if he sees a technique he can figure out a way to counter it. Granted, he’s not as good as Goku where Goku can figure out counters mid fight. But Piccolo is what, 3 years old at this point? He obviously has all of his father’s memories and I’d guess he’s been spending his first few years working on ways to counter it

The fact in the matter is the tournament serve as a ground for the fated interaction between fighters that determines the fate of the planet and not just a contest of champions. Piccolo contain every essence from his father, his enemies especially the ones who got in the way of his conquest for world domination, the evil containment wave was encounter three times with the first one robbed him of his youth, the martial arts tournament considering one of the fighters seal him which led to knowledgement of the tournament and the list if fighters, the dragon balls and kami due to two being one before kami cast out the evil incarnate which became king piccolo and spat out the egg before he died literally save kami from a impending fate thanks to his offspring. So junior have the amount of knowledge through his father's memory but not only much stronger but posses greater powers than his father such as utilizing energy in a form of beams of waves, he has excellent combat and reflexes and he is to know and conter techniques as one of his methods of training is meditation and he's observant. Junior could not do world domination as he had to spend a great ordeal of training in order to become stronger and the way to settle his most hated enemy Goku is in the tournament in hopes to achieve his destiny, Goku who had recently defeated king piccolo had just learn that the dragon balls can be revive by seeing kami and by meeting him and learn that King piccolo has developed a offspring moments before his death is going to face him in the upcoming tournament so Goku gets his wish and in return, agreed to train with kami until the tournament but because kami was unsure if Goku was ready, he came up with a back up plan of entering the tournament portraying as a nerd human hero to get to junior but his plan fail as he had to release the human body before being seal in that tiny jar when his technique got countered

I think it’s okay in English Dub as long as the original background music is still there. That Rock music background is horrible with GT. I watched it in Spanish dub with the original background, opening, ending music.

@@mrZavior I’ve watched it in all three versions they all seem great. Even English, even though like you said, they changed dialog. It was just the music change in English that was a turn off. It felt like a different show to me.

Remember front used this against vegeta? Roshi tried to containment on mageta but frost reversed it and sent it at vegeta
