This Caviar Will Set You Back $100,000

One of the fanciest foods you can serve at dinner is the exclusive white gold caviar. Harvested at a fish farm in Austria by a father-son duo, the caviar comes from a rare albino sturgeon. The process can take eight to ten years to complete-and the Gruell family are the only fish breeders in the world who know how. The preparation process is just as intricate: the roe is dehydrated, finely grated and mixed with dusting of 22-karat edible gold leaf to create a truly unique, luxurious and bespoke delicacy. So how much would it cost to enjoy this luxurious dish? A cool $113,630.

    Tasty Treats If they want to have it, it’s their choice. You could say anything isn’t worth it. For example, What makes jewelry expensive and why do so many people buy it? Why do people buy expensive shoes? Everything you buy ‭that is not a necessity is for self indulgence and it isn’t wrong. I just don’t like it when people shame wealthy people for using their own money when they have the right to do so. People hate the rich just because they’re rich, but they’ve most likely contributed way more to society and to the economy than the average person, so making them out to be assholes or suckers just because they have privileges you don’t really says a lot about a persons’ character. In the end they get the last laugh because they’re the ones eating caviar at their mansion by the beach in Bermuda.

    One sturgeon can lay thousands of eggs. So they don't need all the caviar and females for reproduction. (They use some of it for reproduction and reintroduction into the wild) In fact they are mainly limited by the space they have for the fish and constantly searching for additional pools/ponds/lakes to keep them in. It's just that these fish are super picky with their water quality and temperature.

  • @AntonGudenus

    @AntonGudenus

    5 жыл бұрын

    @SabreLeo Afford what? They literally have no space to put them. And they can't buy capacity too far from their base of operations, because the sturgeon is worth so much (the threat of getting them stolen is substantial even while they are keeping a watchful eye on them). So they let them reproduce at maximum useful capacity. They are constantly (if slowly, due to the fishes high requirements for habitat and the lack of suitable places to keep them in) growing their stock. If they find more suitable ponds/pools, the'll surely fill them with sturgeon too. The operation is not limited by money, it's limited by suitable space.

    Its 100k for 1kg. And caviar weights nothing. So 1kg is a huge amount. Probably 10-15 fishes. And every fish grows 14 Years. So 1kg takes at least 140 years in production. And albinos are very rare. Furthermore the fish is very picky about water temperature and condition. So its extremely hard to produce and harvest caviar. I think its expensive, but its worth its price.

MA-GIC LIKE CHICKENS OR WOMANS ! I personally have goats, and I don't kill them to take the milk... I know it's a stupid comparison... but come on... this is from another time... I've never ate cavia but is there a difference in the taste of normal and albino sturgeon eggs or is it just the rarity and the expensiveness of the ingredients??
