I remember another guide I knew telling me about Roland Martin hiring local guides to pre-fish and show him where the fish were for him. Not saying Roland Martin is not a great fisherman. Just saying, that we are all human, not perfect, and people use whatever to get ahead whether from FFS to "other" methods. Sometimes people put other "people" on a pedestal and worship them without knowing or caring about the flaws in their character that are inherent in all of us.

I'm a teacher and I see it everyday. There is a GIANT problem with this younger generation's lack of respect for their elders. It's gotten progressively worse and now its at an all-time low. There's a fundamental disconnect when it comes to respect with them and it's sad.

Far too many of these young guys coming up haven't fished long enough to be throwing their "opinions" out there like they're the gospel. They haven't lived long enough, or fished long enough to have the "I KNOW EVERYTHING" attitude that they have. When you talk to them, they might ACT like they're listening, but, they're not...because they're convinced that they know it all, and their way is the only way....but, I guess that's just the attitude that a lot of today's youth have. They have no real knowledge of the history of the sport, nor respect for those that made this sport what it is....or, at least what it used to be in it's purist form before greed and egos corrupted it.

Man if u can't scroll past the haters without it affecting you it might be time to get off the Internet. People are always going to talk trash and hide behind the Internet. Most likely their cowards and never have the balls to say those things to a person's face. You're doing them a favor by acknowledging it. They're probably laughing at this video bc they're to brain dead to understand.

Welcome to the internet Randy 🤣 but when you intentionally go out of your way to take a hard stance and call out the other side with the vitriol that you do every time you bring up FFS you are going to bring out a hose kind of people. Just because people don’t agree with your stance doesn’t mean that they don’t respect those that came before them, you need to be a little slower to jump to these irrational decisions about people

I am 63 now and it's appalling to witness what our world is turning into. Respect, honor and integrity don't have a spot in people's hearts anymore. You touched on ethics ? This is simply manners, this was something that made us feel good. Times have changed and it's the mentality of every man for himself, piss on everyone else. It's a jagged pill and a huge loss and failure in the up bringing of the last 3 decades. Shallow, self centered narcissistic A Holes. Stay safe

Truth is these guys can't fish. I went fishing yesterday and I saw boat after boat pull up to the same spot over and over again the fisherman went straight to the technology never even looked at the lake. don't even know if they knew a lake was there😂 and after not catching anything they rode off to do it all over again at a different spot. That's not fishing that's watching TV on a boat. Understand those are not fishermen. Those are video gamers on a boat.

I started bass fishing in the 80's. If it weren't for the TV programs of Orlando Wilson, Jimmy Houston, Bill Dance, Roland Martin, Hank Parker, Al Lindner, all the videos I watched by Bill Dance, and including Doug Hannon, and Homer Circle, and all the local seminars I attended, by Roland Martin and Larry Nixon, Rick Clunn and others, I wouldn't have gotten better at bass fishing. These guys paved the way for everyone else, gave of their time, and their knowledge and deserve our respect. We didn't have internet, KZread, GPS, long rods, fluorocarbon line, fancy baitcasting reels or anything else. We had 5.5'-6' pistol grip fishing rods, basic baitcasting reels, monofilament line, color selectors, paper graphs, flashers, and paper maps. We learned how to pattern fish using seasonal changes, barometric pressure, water temperature, light penetration, wind, and weather conditions. We didn't have forward facing sonar, spot lock, side scan, or any of the technologies available today but we caught fish because of what we learned from these legends.

Amen Randy! You are correct, guys like Hank, Rick Clunn, you and others that have helped grown the sport deserve respect. When watching a tournament, I don't want to watch guys watching a screen and then catering at a fish . I want to see the techniques they are using and how I can apply that to the lakes I fish. I can see how the technolgy could help me better understand the environments I am fishing but to rely on it solely to catch fish takes the fun out of it. Like you said in a past video, if I am spending all my time looking at a screen and not paying attention to what is around me, I am missing the whole point of being out on the lake.

I've seen you post about a month ago on FFS and voiced my opinion on a few sites I'm a member in. I never in my life got so much negative responses from idiots and guy saying I was to illiterate to learn to use FFS. They brought up my granddaughter in the conversation and really pissed me off. I grew up respecting the sport over 50 years, and it's got to the point the rich well be the only winners in tournaments with the use of FFS. I started out with a flasher and used them several years. The generation grew up with a Joy Stick in there had playing video games. They have no respect for the sport or other anglers, one call you Randy a crying little bitch and didn't even want to here you complaining about FFS. We had a heated battle till the site shut us down. I see these high school kids with a boat operator cutting me and other boats off with 3 to 5000 acres of shoreline on a lake like Ky & Lake Barkley all the time. There educate is going to come back and bite them in the ass one day when a fight breaks out. I'm 70 yrs old and grew up with Hank, Bill, Jimmy, and the real pros of this sport. It's got to the point I'm thinking very seriously of selling out and finding a new hobby. Like being a hunter all my life, the money people from other states have came in and leased up all avalible properties I use to hunt for deer & turkeys. I gave that up 10 years ago because I couldn't afford $10.000 a year to lease property large enough to hunt and not be walked up on after sitting in the quite comfortable outdoors. It's our responsibility to keep this things avaliable for future generations. I've always brought out more trash on a hunting trip or fishing trip because of those who don't respect nature as we did 50 to 60 years ago. I support you views and will continue to stand up against those who try to bad mouth the legends of these sports activities. Keep up the good work and continue the fight for all, God Bless and will continue monitor what's taking place here.

Hank parker is a great ambassador of the sport. I used to watch all the weekend bass fishing shows including Hank Parker. I was just a kid man it made me want to fish. I used to watch the shows then after I'd go set up a bucket and spend hours flipping a jig into the bucket. It's not like that anymore, and thats sad.

I don't know exactly how old you are Randy. I am 58 and fished local and state tournaments for last 35 years. Now I mainly pleasure fish and some Wednesday nighters. The forefathers of our sport deserve the utmost respect for building it to what it is today. Although I agree with your views on FFS, I also acknowledge that youth and technology must be served. We as tournament anglers must see that the younger generation is forced to use this technology in order to compete at the highest level period. Until this is banned or limited in some way you cannot fault the youth of our sport for using the tools it was given. As for the disrespect that these mislead and poorly parented individuals are showing we can only pray for them. Stay positive and try to uplift these youngsters.

They need 2 completely separate Tournament Divisions in all large Bass Organizations. 1) Limited and, 2) Unlimited . 1) Limited being No ffs/ Limited Hp . 2) Un Limited being All Tech available to general public/ no hp limit. This will show organizations many things, and certainly help to cut the influences the Big Money Tech has on each organization, as well as allow each angler the opportunity to choose which side of the ffs fence they agree with. It's almost 2 different sports as things stand, and certainly unfair to the less wealthy . This would also show the organizations that a large majority of the fans would sway to the Limited class as the most desirable division, to watch and be able to potentially compete in.

I have been thinking this for a long time. Two divisions or series and go from there. It would be very interesting to see what "most" do when given a choice. I also think that before it can be fact ffs needs to be studied with fish mortality and whatever metric you would want to measure to trying say one way or another this tech hurts the fish population, maybe it has been done idk. If the facts show no detriment to the fish it's unlikely it will ever change, for catch and release fish that is. I think we all agree that catching and keeping your limit more often isn't good for the fish population.

Well said Randy. Hank Parker is a legend and just seems like he would be great to just talk to. Some of these young guys are just chirping, because most of them would be able to compete without the fastest and greatest.I had the pleasure of meeting one of my favorites , Bill Dance , about 20 years ago at a small local boat show in Worcester Mass. and he was so fantastic to us local club guys . Could not have been nicer and just shot the breeze about bass fishing. Got a great pic and it is something I will never forget. No respect these days.

For me, fishing's way more fun when you develop a plan, pour over lake maps, look at survey data, factor in water clarity, account for weather, and choose a presentation instead of simply dropping a "see-stick" into the water. I hope FFS is banned. On the flip side, I could care less about Hank Parker or that douche Ben Miliken.
