    I always thought the Co-angler position served two main purposes: 1) to learn first hand bass fishing skills from the very best tournament anglers, 2) maintain an even playing field amongst the pros by having a neutral set of eyes ( the co angler) monitoring the daily actions of the pro to insure the integrity of our sport. The Co-angler is basically a ride along marshal for the tournament organization. I predict more tournament rule infractions in the future without co anglers participating. There also is no reason to even be a member of MLF or BASS any longer.

    I have thought about issues similar to this. I always thought one potential answer to this, is the philosophy of agriculture. Always keep the larger bodies of water open but rotate the access to smaller bodies of water. Rotate your feilds like farmers do. Close and open bodies of water as needed. However, I would not trust fish and game to over see the process. It would have to be a local organization to do it.

    The reason for co- anglers is to give those that can’t afford a boat an opportunity to fish ,seems that bigshots treat co-anglers like sub humans ,go back to the purpose of the original mission,most of my co-anglers are put on fish & I may not catch as many fish ,makes me feel I’ve done my job

    I have had good and bad experiences with Co-Anglers. I have had Co-Anglers break windshields, tear seats and dash pads, wipe their hands off on the carpet from applying SPF, jackknife the trailer and damage the truck bumpers. And the worst is after traveling, practice for three- or four-days, hotel and fuel expenses, entry fees and the morning of the event the Co-Angler doesn't show. And the Pro/boater is not allowed to fish. This has happened to me 4 times now. I'm done with Co-Anglers. MLF needs to change, after I spend all this time and money, I should be able to fish with or without a Co-Angler. And the Co-Angler should be held responsible for all damages. These boats and upkeep are not cheap. I have had Co-Anglers say, "It's just a boat." And when I talk with the director and MLF headquarters they say, "That's the rules."

    I fished as a co-angler in the BFL and Costa/Toyota for 20 years and loved all of it. The travel, fishing a lot of different places, the people I met fishing was all great. But one year of people weaving around offshore or on points was enough for me to call it quits. Now I just fish here around my house in south Louisiana, good enough for me.

    I understand where you are coming from. I haven't fished a tournament in 20 years. I also think that hard core bass anglers need to pony up and take some of the blame for the down swing in our fisheries. After all we are the ones that taught the general public how to catch bass by sharing our knowledge. With youtube now adays a guy that knows little about bass fishing can binge watch how to for a few months and glean 20 years of experience and go out and do pretty well. I've seen it done. Spot lighting is not helping . But probably isn't the only factor. I would like to see a ban of it at the pro level. Have a good one

Seemed like a waste of money.most times clients got 25 to 50 bass a day.now i,m truly glad i did not purchase the crap.i saw it would make me lazy...gaurenteed.retired guide now,still have the big boat and a john for no gas motor lakes.sti prefer a shady tree lawn chair and a slip float for crappie and shellcrackers.retired is good here in e tn.😁

    I've fished for over 5 decades. This technology is ridiculous. I have a friend whom I've been teaching how to bass fish. He has recently been putting the pieces of knowledge together and doing better at catching. We were fishing a lake last week and saw a very young man with FFS. He hit the areas we had already fished. We anchored and watched him for a short time. His eyes never left his screen. He caught those fish. I explained to my friend how the ffs works etc... he now understands just how easy ffs makes catching fish. He was in the fence of wanting one for his boat, but now realizes just how bad it is for the sustainability of our fisheries. I rarely miss catching fish when I'm out. I use my knowledge gained over the years. If I don't catch anything, I'm happy for the fish. They out did me. Your topic and facts discussed in this video solidify what we know about FFS. Turning our headway and trying to deny it, doesn' help.

    Number of tournaments now is about 5 times what it was when I started in 2001. The rivers and lakes in my state are really small and there is a minimum of 3 tournaments a week at each one of them and I have seen as many as 4 tournaments at once on some of them. It’s an unsustainable about of fishing on these bodies of water.

    can’t imagine being in the back of the boat and my pro stops at some random bass he spotlighted bobs around in the waves harasses it for 10 minutes doesn’t make it bite and then lifts anchor and leaves while im sitting there throwin at random water like i’d be better off pulling out my nintendo switch and play a video game like the pro is than casting at nothing until the pro decides to find another bass to molest that’s a nightmare i wouldn’t want to pay for that crap that pro wouldn’t even deserve my gas money i said it

    FFS is an issue, no doubt. However, not enough attention is given to wake boats and their impact on the shallow water fishing environment. These boats, when operating too close to shore actually flush shoreline cover up onto the bank. Plus there is tremendous erosion.

    Bs! Ffs does not make a bass bite! Wake up Randy. Also limits will always change from year to year like all fishing and hunting regs do. Again you are the biggest Hypocrite I know of. You used all the latest available sonar at the time when you were a pro. Just give it up !!!!!!!

  • @PapawHasThis1
    @PapawHasThis16 сағат бұрын

    No foul hooked fish and no forward facing sonar allowed in tournaments. The pros don’t need that and didn’t have it until recently. Over fifty years of professional tournaments without most of the electronics that today’s anglers have, but they managed. You won’t let anglers use live bait in tournaments, so why do they need all the other advantages? Let them show everyone why they’re the best. Don’t make it because they can afford the most expensive electronics that most people will never get the chance to use, make it because of their skill and experience.

    First thing came my mind was FFS , you can’t blame co anglers for not wanting to fish , co anglers are not allowed up front with the pro unless assisting on netting a fish , hard to fish from the back when someone is FFS , they start losing on this an something will have to change rules or something absolutely horrid.

  • @mistertwister1816
    @mistertwister18166 сағат бұрын

    Lovin’ this FFS. It’s moving the Zaldains of the lake from the shallows out to the middle of the lake where they’re more isolated and less of a hazard to others. The same can be said of the coanglers you hate … fewer of them for you to have to suffer and talk down to. As a bonus, fewer tournament fishermen overall. Good stuff.

    Clean air/water is incredibly important. I’m very passionate about the environment, and I’m a conservative (albeit center leaning one). Hence why I spend as much time pulling trash out of the lakes I’m fishing in as I do fishing (I always keep a trash bag on the boat for that reason). *So, being concerned about clean air and water is incredibly important to me, and every other conservative I know. *That’s not what makes you left-wing, Randy. What makes you left-wing is deleting comments (from subscribers who’ve supported you in every way possible) over what you consider “misinformation and conspiracy theories”….especially, when those comments are defending you, or your “cause”. Censoring people for reasons you can’t (or flat-out refuse) to define is the #1 way to destroy your credibility?* But, I digress…The problem that politics plays in this is how the left is using the environment as a tool for completely unrelated agendas….i.e. “we’re all going to be dead in 5-10yrs because of environmental issues (something that’s been said for 50+yrs). So, unless you vote Democrat…..yadada. Next thing you know they’re out destroying million-dollar art work, vandalizing national monuments, etc, etc…. And THOSE losers are ABSOLUTELY funded by left-wing “loons”, even if it’s just the left-wing, government-funded Ivy League college they attend. The same one’s who are pushing antisemitism off on those same students. But, again, I digress… NOT recognizing that is bullsh!t as well, because it hurts, and undermines this very cause. Rights don’t mean anything if our air/water is toxic, if/when that day comes. But, a dictatorship falls under those exact same guidelines, as well, if not more-so (whether we have clean water or not). If we live under a dictatorship there’s not a single thing people will be able to do about our air/water quality. *So, no, rights DO have something to say about this effort. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on those very rights, when it’s YOURS that are finally taken away.* I’ll say it again, I’m a very passionate conservationist on several fronts, and I’ll continue to be. But, as far as the next generations go, they’ll be asking “who completely destroyed our election system, and the weaponization of our entire DOJ”. And, that’s a FAR worse than a problem at this very moment. *Here’s one of the many other elephant in the room, Randy. The worst offenders of our water/air quality these days is China, and third-world countries. And, our gov’t is doing absolutely nothing about those countries. As a matter of fact, they’re supporting them one way or another. The problem is global, every bit as much as with the U.S.

    Randy, I just happened to tune in to a repeat of the last day of the Open at Eufala. First guy they show as I tuned in was a dude I’ve never heard staring at a screen saying “if I can just get him to look at it I think I can catch him”. 30 seconds go by before he makes a little cast with his tiny minnow bait with technique that my non-fishing daughter could do. I tuned out to check some scores, came back to see a different dude I’ve never heard of staring at screen. He proceeds to tell us viewers “What I’ve been targeting are pretty much some dots that are hanging around some rocky cover.” HE’S TARGETING DOTS. Make it stop. Just end it already.

    I think technology advances everything. No difference than when there was just paper graphs and flashers. Everyone has been all for every advancement in fish finders until now. I think that’s absolutely crazy. It takes skill to catch them with FFS too. I can’t believe all the crying this has caused. Stuck in the old. I bet y’all have 100,00 worth of equipment on your boat to chase a bass and now the sport is ruined because of FFS. To many rules. Exactly why I stopped following NASCAR. Just my opinion. Have a good day!

    Im sorry to disagree, but i dont see that many anglers sitting away from the bank in your so called spot lighting. Most are still the banks. Co anglers have never had a true oppurtunity to fish. Its not the ffs thats the problem, its the so called pro, not giving at co a chance. I saw that long before ffs.
