I think you're a bit off on that. Hal Sutherland was colorblind, so that's true. Incidentally, Hal Sutherland was to Filmation in the same way as Walt Disney was to Walt Disney studios. In other words, he was an animator, and the top guy as well. Yes, the tribbles were pink because of his colorblindness, but the other two were never the colors you gave them as. Andorians appeared in just two episodes. In "Yesteryear" there was an alternate time Andorian first officer who had medium gray skin. Not even light gray. Yet in "The Time Trap", there was an Andorian who had pale blue skin. The Orions appeared twice in the series (maybe), though they were presented as being two different races. In "The Pirates of Orion" they had blue skin, but their name was pronounced "Or-REE-ahn. In " Time Trap" again, there was a pretty standard green-skinned Orion woman, and her species name was pronounced the usual way.

(star trek probably has a lot more, but I always used to confuse hortas and tribbles outside of their obvious size difference. and hortas aren't fuzzy hehe)

Cuteness could be a evolutionary adaption. A hominid from Sherman's Planet takes a kind-of cute one and makes it pet. They species adapts by becoming more cute and quicker to reproduce. Later, some alien (like Cyrano Jones) sees their cuteness as something to sell and they get off their homeworld to spread through the galaxy.

Scared but needing answers they beam aboard only to find it filled with Troubles who went undetected on the Cube, just ignored by the Hive, as we have seen them do often if they do not consider an incursion into the Cube to be a legitimate immediate threat. The Tribbles get into the nourishment system for the drones and by the time our crew gets inside it's a nightmare. Drones covered in Tribbles who once the nutrient supply ran out began digesting the organic parts of the Borg drones.
