One of my three Tilley hats had a minor issue, the fabric was separating from grommet after a couple of years. I sent it back with the return form and 2 weeks later a brand new one arrived at my door. I bought my first one 18 years ago and it is still in like new shape minus a few stains.

Do you feel it keeps your head cool? I see Tilley has the airflo models and hikers hat. What do you think? Does it allow air in and out and keep your head cool?

7 month update. I too have tried almost every type of outdoor hat. I wanted somethng non-military. The Wanderer is now my go-to. Last week, I was in some 20 plus mph wind while fishing. It not only remained in place, but I didn't have to keep reaching for it. I have worn it for yard work, hiking, hunting, in the desert, in the mountains, and on the coast. Snow, rain, and sun. A bit warm in 90 plus degree weather.

Been wearing Tilley hats for over 20 years. Fits even my big head. My first Tilley hat wore out two years ago and they replaced it at no cost. Love their products.

Your comment documents why companies like LL Bean stopped guaranteeing their products for life. I’ve owned the same Tilley hat for 6 years now. I work outside in the Florida sun and my hat takes a beating. It’’s still in great shape. If in the future the hat rips or something I’m not going to send it back. Having a hat last 6,7, 10 years means I got my money’s worth out of the hat. Sending it back, after owning it for years and using it constantly, and then expecting a refund is a bit silly. You paid for a hat, got years of good service out of it, then in my opinion don’t send it back. No company can stay in business if everyone sent the old product back and expected a new one. Businesses with this policy hope people will be honest and realize that over time they got their moneys worth out of the product.

Nonsense. If a company warrants something for life, they can stand by it. If the stitching falls apart, or the grommets detach through age and normal use, I'd be taking advantage of the warranty. These are not inexpensive hats, the price of the warranty is built in, and I suspect that because of the quality, their return rate is quite low. Most people don't abuse them, nor wear them every day. Plus, the consumer is responsible for shipping both directions. You write: "No company can stay in business if everyone sent the old product back and expected a new one." That's correct, but it's also hyperbole. Not "everyone" would be sending their worn out hats in. Probably less than 1% would, but only Tilley can answer that. From their website: If your Tilley Hat is a Lifetime Guarantee Hat and wears out due to: •normal wear and tear •poor workmanship •faulty material we'll repair or replace your Hat.

This exact hat has been long term in heat over 100f or 35c With a humidex of 80% in the southern US swamps in the middle of heat haves. It’s been soaking wet for days on end with the only thing happening was a salt ring forming around the outside. After a wash and a knee stretch she is still as good as the day I got her all those years ago
