I ride a 164 and so admittedly I take up a lot of space on a lift if I want to be comfortable. Never fails that they still find a way to hit the fuck out of my board at any opportunity even when I'm sitting weird to take up no space. Yet weirdly, my friend who grew up boarding and just learned to ski for fun last season never did with her skis, even on two seat lifts. Funny how that works

Skiers never look when snaking across the hill - even the experienced ones. In fact the older and more experienced, the more likely they are to never look around cutting across the fall line and through intersections. Tunnel vision the entire day. Beginner snowboarders do this less and less the more experienced they get - they learn that part of being a good rider is paying attention. Copper has one of the worst openings weeks out of every resort in the summit area because they cater to ski teams. I've seen this at so many resorts and the culture is always the same - the race teams are usually entitled, line-cutting, and snobby. Last season a race coach tried to cut a line of 30+ people, arguing with the lifty, and we mass-shamed him to know his place. You've missed one annoying habit - standing in front of side hits or their landings. It's like magnetism, if there is a fun looking side hit...chances are that a skier will feel an unexplainable urge to block it or stand in the landing. The average groomer skier has so little steeze that they don't even register that maybe people want to hit jumps, so they aren't trained to think "Am I in the way?"

A few years ago I was riding a lift with a skier family. When we approached the last lift tower I started to lift the bar, the father started freaking out yelling “woah woah woah, don't lift the bar yet, I've skied in Switzerland!”. Because that makes total sense. Lol. He was obviously trying to look tough in front of his wife. I looked at her and said “I'm so sorry you have to deal with him”, he wasn't happy at all about that. I cried laughing the whole ride down the mountain.

It's not that much about safety man, it's just to give your feet a bit time to rest. The most popular resorts in Alps are much bigger than in US, so you make more vertical and more distance, that's why if you want to ride whole day, you need to take care of your feet. Overall, US resorts care more about safety, like marking places where you can go off-piste, while in Europe you can go almost anywhere @@proverbalizer

These kids have transcended, created a haven where everyone takes their turn at a blank canvas. Getting stoked for each other. Helping shape together. A community in the truest sense. Who's the entitled ones then? It's fucking adults. When is the point where children turn into assholes?!

Never really thought about it until now, but I’m convinced that a lot of the douchy social skiing behavior comes from them being boomers. Skiing has existed for a lot longer than boarding…most of the worst types of skiers are the old-heads. You don’t have a lot of old boarders, and when you do see them, they’re tight as fuck. Also, the not-on-my-ski-resort mentality of Alta/deer/etc. has got to be from the crusty old ski fucks. Never heard my younger ski friends argue for it. Also, the not looking then crashing into you…that just screams stinky boomer behavior and entitlement and almost exclusively happens with the old heads. It’s just an extension of the same gross victim mentality they carry everywhere else.

and now imagine you´re a snowboarder in Austria - believe me, it´s at least ten times worse... at age 12/13 pretty much every school has a week of skiing. to get an idea of how "well" snowboarding is passed on to the next generation: three classes, 70 kids and my son was literally the only snowboarder - he was still faster than the other kids and he rode with the advanced skiers... on another note: at age 6 and 8 we organized private lessons for both kids while we were on the mountain. afterwards the instructor said something like "they shouldn´t be snowboarding at this age, their knees will not make it and it´s bad for them"... they really tried to convince us to make them ski... cheers from Austria \o/

Our resort struggled with the warm temps and at times we had like 3 runs open and they still continued to do it as well as ski patrol taking up the other half of the hill learning how to get their damn sled down the hill. After a few runs of that I just sprayed the hell out of them if they got in the way, ski patrol was pissed when I sprayed the guy in the sled.

Great list, one thing that I personally miss here is the fact skiers (specifically in Europe) don't care that much about their equipment and think snowboarders are like them, renting their boards and don't care about damaging it. As a result, you get a lot of scratches from skiers when standing in the line, because those pizza lovers put their sticks on top of your board and then pretend it's how it should be

#6 is they always completely unprovoked, assume you need a tour guide and will tell you which runs on the hill you need to be going to (everywhere - chairlift, resort hot tub, bars), but that they’re never quite like they used to be… they always have to throw that part in as well Like shut up, I’m tryna enjoy this chairlift ride with my buddies, not listen to you lecture us about where we need to be

As a skier, i thoroughly enjoyed the video. I'll definitely agree with the blinders argument. I do think it comes down at least in part to the fact that on a snowboard, it's way easier to look up the hill and are therefore more aware when you are about to cut someone off that's approaching from behind. I've been hit twice, once by a skier and once by a snowboard. Only difference was that the snowboarder apologized lol. That being said, you are so dead wrong on number one 🤣. It is pretty rare to see an adult snow plowing on anything other than a green or easy blue (and a small child is too light to ruin the snow even if they are plowing). I see soo many beginner/intermediate snowboarders that will scrape down an entire run even on steeper slopes making like 2 turns. Combine that with the fact that all the pressure is on a single edge, and yeah, low level snowboarders ruin more snow than low level skiers. If you carve, you aren't part of the problem.

Something else I can’t stand, maybe another honorable mention. I can’t stand them in the lift lines. They take up so much space and always try to jump ahead in line. Also they freak out if their ski’s get touched, babies about the equipment. I once stood at the top of a tracked out tree run about to drop in and a skier up there asked me if I was using rental equipment cause the run looked kinda rough. I told him I buy my board to ride it see ya

As a new snowboarder, I was so surprised to find this to be totally true! I’m in Scotland and our mountain resorts are only tiny, so I was really surprised to find skiers have such shitty attitudes, considering we have such a small community of people who partake in snow sport here, but man those guys are the fucking worst. And during my amateur observations even I can tell it’s them who fuck up the snow!

Scraping the snow off of the mountain is an argument I’ve had many times, and the fact of the matter is, BEGINNERS scrape the snow off of the mountain. The difference is, snowboarding like that is simply no fun. Snowboarders are forced to progress if they want to have fun. Skiers can make it all the way down the mountain while snow plowing and I’m sure it’s still fun. Skiers have no incentive to progress if they are perfectly content with being the god damn pizza man their whole lives, SO yeah, it’s fucking skiers that ruin the snow.

Picked up skiing this season(terrible snow this year and I got bored, sorry boys) and wow are skiiers just willingly blind. Most literally refuse to look left or right, let alone check uphill, and their spatial awareness sucks. Didn't have this issue myself, or any issues with boarders other than the typical idiots sitting under rollers... Other skiiers were still the most common pylons.
