Parents taking their kids that have no idea how to ski into the park is probably my biggest pet peeve on the mountain. Nowhere else have I ever seen parents so willingly throw their kids straight into danger.

@@thaleamondschatten2891 I actually climb indoors a good bit. While there is still a fair share of unattended kids doing irresponsible/ dangerous things, I still don’t think it’s as bad as what I’ve seen on the mountain. But I agree with your sentiment. Some parents seem to just not care.

I support this. Some bike park trails have "squirrel catchers" or a feature at the beginning of trails that basically give riders a sense of the difficulty/skill needed for the rest of the trail.

Honorable mention: people not looking uphill/behind them when doing a sudden carve and darting across the run. I mean yea I dodge them every time and yea downhill rider has right of way, but all it takes is another beginner that can’t dodge as well to plow into that person not looking uphill/behind them. P.S. this is usually skiers

I don't know what's wrong with them, if they are scared, tired, or waiting for their friends, that pisses me off (they are 80% skiers thou)

I've noticed waves of strong urges to buy gear during the off-season. It's a way to scratch the itch for me I think, I'll be laying in bed in the middle of summer imagining/remembering runs from last season and wishing it were winter, so I start shopping for gear... or watching YT content. I think having a camera isn’t the worst idea for someone who can comfortably make turns, I did it this season and being about to watch and see what I’m doing it helps me discover what I need to focus on, eg carving more then skidding. Not for beginners but if confident it can definitely help to watch yourself back and see where you need improvement.

Hilarious points... I bought the super DOA and RULERs with the union Forces for my first setup last year.. Works great yet very powerful very aggressive verhy expensive. Clocked about 30 days last year, slightly hurt myself twice, and yeah I am now looking at the Good Company and Cartels as an example because I notice the setup already wearing and I kind of want to save the super DOA for Big Air and just bigger stuff in general... I am a big guy... Skateboarded a lot as a kid... I do notice the "dead spot" you mention on them as flexing the board (biggest widest size) is pretty tough. I think I am pretty decent. Yeah, ultimately, like anything, you have to spend days, and get switch days (I am guilty of basically none my first season) and keep practicing. Solid gear is solid gear man... \m/

Hey I agree/disagree with you about buying your way to getting good…. When I worked at shops I’d talk to people about there ability’s and how much they were gona ride in a season , and yes that one dude who had the money and way over buys for his skill or his kid’s skills, well he’s a kook and I’d always try to talk them down to the appropriate level ride but sometimes ya just can’t …but guys who were gona put in 25/50/75+ days and were new to the sport and were humble about it ( witch was often ) I’d try to over gear them cause they would learn how to use that stuff and wouldn’t have to buy a new setup in another season or two, so they might be a gaper at first but they quickly evolved and aren’t stuck with a beginner rig ….. I think we often forget we were all new to this at one point …. But dam I do hate the guy just taken the powder out of the chute cause it was out of his skill set but then I think I was that dude once ….so go ride have fun and dont worry about those people

Cool I think this is the comment I was looking for...I'm a beginner to snowboarding but not to boarding, working and living at the mountain this year because this is something I've always wanted to do. I have a lot of confidence in my heel-toe balance from downhill longboarding experience, and I have an idea for the kind of board I want (all-mountain asym twin with mid-high flex that can butter without too much chatter downhill) but the ones that catch my eye seem to lean in the intermediate category. So as someone who will be riding as often as possible this season, confident in my ability to pick it up, and knows what kind of disciplines I'm aiming for, I was trying to decide if it was a good idea to buy something that I can grow into even if it's a little tricky to start on. Currently looking at the YES Greats Uninc.

I'm a lowlander skateboarder that gets about 10 days a season. Progressing slowly and trying to keep my old ass in check. Gear advice is find a real snowboard shop and figure out who knows the gear. Let them help you get gear. Renting stuff from a good shop is a good idea too. Try different stuff before you decide to buy. GoPro is a toughy. You will see me complaing to my GoPro that I will film slow turns on easy groomers. It's because I take pictures from the top of the lift and people ask for footage. My skateboarding isn't that great, so shitty snowboarding isn't out of character for my feed. BTW, I'm not the pro skateboarder. LOL

Nah, he's more right than wrong. If you are interesting in progressing at all, you should always record at least one run per session. It is so much easier to see what you are doing wrong than it is to feel what you are doing wrong. That said, there's no one that needs to record their entire session as a newbie and if recording is getting in the way of their riding, they should put that crap away.

I got k2 clickers, they seem pretty decent to me, I'm still dialing them in though (i still have my traditional bindings so I can swap back). Are the clickers not considered good? I've been hiatus and just got back in this season so I'm out of touch with whats current. The biggest changed I've noticed is everyone wears helmets now.
