    yup. I bought it! this is my second season (22-23) ridding and I started to go in the park, just for the jumps, never did rails or boxes, but I bought this board cause I thought it could help me improving my technique and I'm pretty amazed with it! super light, feels right while ridding and gotta say that to learn switch, it's a pretty safe choice! I'm not really a good rider, but I hope I can become one with my Alice (yup, I feel like I'm in wonderland with this board), starting to get into switch and carving. The flex of the board is amazing, super easy and comfortable pop. Couldn't be happier with the choice. An absoulute must have board! See y'all on the mountain! Cheers!

    I've been snowboarding for about a year now, coming from a surf and skate background of over 30 years. I'm 5' 8", 167lbs, 8.5 US shoe size and now live in Switzerland. I have a Party Wave (154) and a Lib Tech Orca (153), which I ride when they fit the need, but I just got the Bataleon Whatever 154cm about a month ago, same as the review, and love it! I ride it 85% of the time now. I go out about 2x/wk and we haven't had powder conditions as often as I was hoping, so I've had to get on piste. I never worry about the Whatever catching an edge or how it's going to turn. I just ride it. It feels like a skateboard to me, whereas the Party Wave feels surfy, but I ride that one in powder which has a lot to do with the surfy feel. I've ridden the Whatever really fast in about 6 inch deep powder and it gave me a lot of confidence. I feel very confident on piste with it. It's so freaking light too! I've tried about 10 boards out over a year and this board has been the funnest - just feels right to me. And when you're riding across the flats it will not catch an edge. It has never thrown me down. It plows through rough stuff better than my other two boards. I can't say enough about this board.

  • @BreauxBobby

    @BreauxBobby

    3 ай бұрын

    @@gladdy02 Hey. I've had this board for a while now. And I got a few other boards since I wrote that. The Whatever does not do so good with ice and hard snow. Because it doesn't catch an edge easily, it also doesn't dig into ice or hard snow. The edge doesn't catch (lol). I have a Jones Mountain Twin that rides just about the same, not as loose. The Mountain Twin is what I ride when I'm facing ice steeps. The edges are designed to handle that, to grip. You can feel it sometimes catch when you're going straight. And the Jones holds up better at fast speeds and is faster. I still like the Whatever more than any of the boards I have from a sheer fun perspective. I have 6 now, including 2 splitboards. You should check out the Bataleon Beyond Medals if you want to get the Whatever feel and the stability of a stiff board with a faster base. But when I go on piste, and its normal conditions, the Whatever is such a blast to ride. And it's great in a little bit of powder.

    I bought the 21 model year of the Whatever in a deal and just for fun to try out 3BT. I've ridden it about 5 times but I'm not sure I'll ever get used to the strange feel of these pronounced 3D shapes, especially in harder snow conditions. Maybe if I started riding a 3BT from day one I wouldn't know any better, or if I rode it more often I would eventually adjust to it, but it lacks the precision of conventional flat shapes until you get them sufficiently on edge then it feels pretty normal. Turn overshoot with 3BT is really noticeable and something I need to compensate for when I switch between the 3BT and non-3D shaped boards. I have used it in a variety of terrain (it is the Whatever after all) and it can hold a pretty good edge, is soft for butters, very catch free, but holding long wheelies or presses on that narrow tail contact patch is a lot of work! I think it would be better in light powder conditions and am waiting for that opportunity to spend some more time on it. Maybe its just me, but I think mellowing out the deep 3D shapes and smoothing the shape transitions would improve the overall feel of these boards.

    Everything you said makes sense but I picked up the evil twin this season and so far have loved it. Even felt great for ripping blue groomers too. It’s also been great for practicing switch. My other two boards are the capita asymulator and lib tec orca. I got the asym used last year and I think I need to get it tuned at the shop because I haven’t really experienced the great carving that everyone says it has. My evil twin carves better.

    Ive ridden the lobster park 1th or 2nd version. I absolutely loved it for park. For hard snow it sucked, its a submarine in pow, carving asked a lot popped okish. I switched over to doa, and loved it so much. Carves sweet, floats, pops massive, lots of response. But it got all smashed by rocks. And now got the 22/23model of the whatever. Al cons I experiences on the parkboard arent there. It carves like a beast, the flex makes it possible to rip about any terrain. And yes, my rail and jibs feel so smooth again. Its unbelievable how much fun this board is and how less it compromises with the tbt, when I bought it I was not satisfied it had this much tbt, i just needed a new board, and the usecase sounds perfect for me.. but jet I dont feel any of the tbt while I while ride, normal or aggressive, i say, put your highbacks more aggressive for this one, tbt will safe you anywah, its a playfull very poppy and relyable board, carves about insane, the fast turnining skier guys were impressed by me doing their track with no ease 😮 I even wonder how my doa and knees would hold op on the doa even trying on the conditions of that day.. the whatever rides so unique, I truly feel more surfy, more playfull with still no con of tbt.

Having rode both and being the owner of the whatever the evil twin and whatever are very similar all around.
