I am an engineer and I totally agree. How many times have you heard "We're going to revolutionise your sport" and it's always bullshit. The best developments make the gear more simple from a riders point of view.

Liked for the beating off statement, that was hilarious. Also, I’m a Mechanical Engineer and completely agree with your design statements. All the extra unnecessary stuff creates more problems and is more of a gimmicky marketing technique.

I'm an engineer (in training) and agree with you 100%. I build boards for myself in my free time, and I can make something half decent, but I'm never going to pretend that I could compete with any of the big boys. If you actually had a great idea like a radical new shape (unlikely) or material, you would be better off patenting it and selling it on. Overall it's a great hobby, terrible business idea. Well, unless you enjoy setting money on fire, which sounds like more fun anyway!

I thoroughly enjoyed this. 😂 As an industrial designer I completely agree with the sentiments regarding snowboarders who are engineers versus vice versa.

Hell I got t boned by an f 250 trying to get to the mountain this year. Parked my crashed ass car and walked to the lifts Funnest trip I had all year. Don’t think I could ever be on my board and not have fun.

Good example of "engineer and snowboarding" are guys from Enfuse Splitboard bindings - hi tech, definitely not cheap, tested, own approach.

Rockin angry love it bro keeping it real. Opening day over here tomorrow shame it’s pissing down with rain and 100 km winds forecast. Next week hopefully. Have a good weekend. What about “all the gear and no idea”. A lady I know (lawyer) came into the shop last week and bought her 15 year old son who was going on a family holiday down to Queenstown (expensive rip off) a gortex pro bib, jacket snd gloves and a merino base layer and dropped $2,300 NZ dollars on it. The grommet could not even say thank you. The student working with me said “look at all the gortex pro” the spoilt grommet didn’t even smile. Funny thing is he will have 2 days using that gear and I am aiming for 50 days a third of what you achieved however I appreciate the sacrifices you have made to get to that and continue to make to get the days so I fully respect your channel and opinion. Thanks again love your content, wisdom and reviews.

1. Always Fuck Buckhouse but only with a razor blade gauntlet. 2. Just be aware that the Vice will be more rigid in the heel cut due to the metal. Otherwise great replacement option.

I have over 5 friends who bought Clew. None of them use it now cuz they are heavy, there are a few heavy wear points that just make the binding unusable at the end, and most of the time they are slower than traditional bindings. Going back to Step Ons.

Most* graphics on snowboards suck. Maybe it's because I was a skater way before I was a snowboarder. And they do make a difference. Look at the dwd maet. That deck always sold out by March. This year the graphic sucks. And you can find them everywhere, in all the sizes right now.

Don't encourage him.

In reference to CLEW binding. I went from the Burton step ons to the Clew bindings cuz i had hot spots with the Burtons. Now I get to wear my Adidas boots and I am SO much more comfortable and get to ride longer as well as still getting the step in feature. So far I love them but then again I’ve only done one season on them and I just ride i dont do jumps or tricks so im not the best example for someone putting them trough a stress test.

as far as step ons go, the old shamans clicker system with new boots isn't terrible. we're just very hard to come by where I am, and couldnt get yhe right size boots.
