With the release of their self-titled debut, The Ocean Blue quickly achieved widespread acclaim and radio & MTV airplay with top 10 Modern Rock/College Radio hits like "Between Something and Nothing", "Drifting, Falling", and "Vanity Fair". Followed by Cerulean, Beneath the Rhythm and Sound , and See The Ocean Blue, the band's fanbase grew with each release.
The band continued to several records, including 2000's Davy Jones Locker and 2004's Waterworks. In 2013, the band released their first full length record in a decade, Ultramarine, on Korda Records. In 2015, the band worked with Sire Records to reissue their first three albums on vinyl, and toured North America and South America, where some of their most passionate fans reside.
In 2019, the band returned with the beautifully powerful Kings and Queens / Knaves and Thieves, and has continued to tour for this release and the newly re-issued vinyl of See The Ocean Blue (2022) and Davy Jones Locker (2023).

Just seen them last night in Seattle . I haven’t seen them play live since 1991 and what a wonderful evening of bliss . We’re all getting older but everyone in the crowd was happy and smiling and thinking of our younger time . I’m still buzzing today wanting more .

Ocean blue is definitely a hidden gem. Asuncion is a hidden gem with their music scene! I saw Metallica there in 2014.
Just discovered this band with ballerina out of control. I really like its music.

I loooove The Ocean Blue! It's a band that I have always loved but I just didn't know their name, and I just found out that they came to my country, Paraguay, twice! They even made a song dedicated to my country. I really hope they will come back. Now I'm listening to them as I cut out letters to decorate my 6th grade classroom since the school year will start tomorrow!
i just listened to "Mercury" and it's the same feeling. My Catholic High School in Lima, Peru very close to the beach and my favorite songs. That was "Sublime" Oh my!!! I remember sublime is the name of a famous chocolate in Peru. LOL!!!

I played this all the time on my radio show in college in 1993
Saw them in '89 in Columbus, OH - standing front row right in front of Dave's foot!! Threw Hershey's kisses into the audience at the end of the show. =)

Nice. Saw them in Detroit in 89 as well. JW Harding, TOB, and TMLD. Great show. They played St. Andrews and then went up to East Lansing the next day. Sigh.
Damn, I've been casually searching for this song for almost 20 years. I heard it on the radio here in Hawaii back in 1993 and was thinking he was saying "So ba-londe!" No wonder I couldn't find it in any search engines over the years. I just happened upon this song because I heard Drifting and Falling on Live365 and wanted to see what other songs this group had. So here I am. And I feel a little "blonde".

LOL! I needed that! I guess there's no song called "so blonde" that has been made yet.
Song went to # 3 (Billboard Modern Rock) in September 1993. Also "Bubbled Under" at # 121 on Billboard. That was their last swan song farewell on the charts.
The obscure usually turns out to be a find!!!
Sunday Night Football brought me here. Played a clip heading to commercial break (Shazaamed it) presumably b/c this is a PA-based band and the game is in Philly...

1st time I heard them was on WHFS out of D.C. back in '89. A song called "ask me Jon". I've been hooked ever since.

Conocí esta canción cuando llegó en una caja de chocolates de mi padre a mi madre. Y desde ese momento me gustó jiji. Envidio a las personas que vivieron en los 80. Me cuentan que fue la mejor época para muchos.

I've loved this band since the early 90s, but seriously had never known what they looked like till watching this video just now. Had no idea the singer was that good-looking. (I hate to be one of those comments about appearances rather than music, but I was taken aback by this!) He sort of looks like he could be Neil Halstead's brother.
I still miss Radio Free Hawaii. This song was high on their request list for quite a while around 1993. Why is this song not played on "best of the 90's" channels today?
