Hi Laura. I just wanted to say thank you for your podcast. I’m watching all your episodes. I like your energy, and I love your knits. You have beautiful makes. I also love your honesty, when something doesn’t go as planned. It’s a relief to hear that’s okay too. I’m a beginning knitter and it’s a bit overwhelming seeing all these people knitting at such a high level. Thank you for your honesty about mental health, very courageous of you. I wish you all the best. 🌸

Also having 2 little humans in your life? I hope once I'm a mum of two I can be as productive. Oh yes as for the knitting as a second language, I can relate as well. What a cool phrase! It is always a treat to have another video of yours to watch 💕 Your knitting is so inspiring and I love the way you pair colors together! I have been into knitting and cross stitch since I was a teenager but a year and a half ago (when I was 33) I got sick with a neuroimmune disease and both of those crafts have become a real source of solace for me during this time. Thank you for being so open about your mental health and making your own channel a safe space to share our struggles. I haven't watched your mental health video yet but I will make sure to do that soon. I will also be purchasing your sock pattern and the Seaborn tee as well 🤩 I saw that Inga made hers more autumnal and now I have lots of ideas of color combinations I could do. Which then led me to thinking about all the combinations I could make the Cornicette socks haha

Another lovely podcast Laura - you always make me smile. I too have suffered with anxiety most of my life and now at 63 I can only say I’ve learned to live with it. Talking does help as does having a hobby like knitting!😍👍🏻 Btw, have you tried Marriner yarns? They’re on line and also in Shaws haberdashery stores - I’m not working for them😂 I’ve just used their yarns for years and they’ve just brought out some 100% merino and they have self patterning sock yarns - not too many colours but beautiful and talk about reasonably priced!😱😍

Thank you Geraldine, I feel a lot of the time we are told that mental health is a problem to be fixed, but actually I think a lot of it is accepting your anxiety and finding a way of living that works for you. I struggle with social anxiety and now instead of forcing myself to go to events and things I don’t want to, I set my own boundaries and if I don’t want to go, I won’t. I’ll definitely check out that brand, I’m always up for trying new yarns! Xx

There is so much to comment on in this video. Penny looks adorable in her red sweater. 💗 I love both of your new sock ideas, your sweaters, and your upcoming test knit pattern. I love watching your podcasts and all the energy you bring to them. Your sweater with the bobbles was very beautiful. I also think reverse stockinette looks backwards and try to avoid it. And finally, I think people need to understand that seeking help or counseling does not make you a failure or make you less of a person. In the end, it makes you stronger.

Love both cardigans. Your daughter is adorable and that cardi is so perfect. just a note- for most front closing cardigans- any gauge - knit or woven- button placement is pretty standard. your mum might have a sewing book. first and last button about 1/2 inch from edge to mid button. then the placement is approx 3 inches from center button to center button. usually one right at bust apex. 5-7 on most cardigans. love special buttons.

You might want to watch the Yarnia podcast as Hayley crochet's garments and I have been surprised by the nice drape and the fact that they are cute garments. I am curious as to whether you have ever tried a knitting ring for color work. I typically steer clear of color work as I really have trouble managing the yarn and am considering trying a ring to see if it helps me.

You totally cracked me up when you said "I can make the sounds" of language you don't really speak. My boyfriend always wonders because I find a way to communicate without really knowing the language. Anyway I speak czech (born and raised), german (as I live here), english, knitting, crocheting and SQL (any developers our there? 🤭) I had 1 year of french, and I can only remember how to introduce myself and say that I do not speak french 😅 but my teacher always said that I sound so nice, why can't I write so nice as well - well maybe because I was just "making the sounds" instead of actually knowing what I am saying. 🤣 Thank You for another great episode! Will buy the pattern once back from vacation (and then some yarn as I don't have any solid colors) 🙃

Thank you so much michaela!! If you look at the Instagram hashtag there’s some lovely versions using speckled and very gated yarn! Just make sure you choose a high contrast!! Looking forward to seeing your version!! I’m glad it’s not just me that can pretend to speak a language and get away with it 😂 I know how to say ‘I love my new shoes’ in french. It comes in very handy 😂😂😂

I’ve just found your podcast recently. Your projects are so beautiful. Your energy and love of knitting is infectious. I do want to tell you that knitting a hat or anything that needs structure does not work well in 100% alpaca. It really does not retain its shape. I’ve learned the hard way. It’s best to knit it with another wool fiber or a wool blend. Hope you find this information helpful.

Ooooh thank you Susan that’s really helpful! I though maybe because it would be stretched to the head it might be ok, but I shall take your advice as I want it to be spot on for the rest knit! Thank you!! X

Random question - I plan on knitting socks over Winter and have bought sock blockers as I've seen them used on podcasts. I thought they looked big on screen. I bought size 5 and they're huge! The heel of my store bought socks doesn't stretch to the heel on the blocker. Won't hand knitted socks be stretched way too big?

  • @_laurapenrose_

Hmmm that’s a tough one as it depends on the foot/sock really! Socks are usually knit with negative ease so they stretch and fit tightly, so you do want the blocker to be big enough, but not too big of course. It will probably take some trial and error! X

@@sarahjane8063 I’d say knot a sock first as they might be fine, then change blocker if you need to!
