Your green sweater is LOVELY!!! What a joy it is that you have so much time to knit!!! Congratulations on breaking free from past issues!! Good job! I'm looking forward to the next episode... Binge watching to get to the blanket episodes, but I like to watch in order when I find a new podcast to watch :)
Beautiful podcast, thank you for sharing your time and knits with us. You are an inspiring young woman 🤗🧶🇨🇦
Gorgeous Mary cardigan and Lynton socks! I already own your Lovely Anna socks 😊 I also want to add what a strong and resilient young woman you are to discuss your mental health issues to help others, go girl 👊🏼💪🏻
You tickled my pickle when you told your story about trying to read a knitting pattern. It made me laugh because I remember having the same experience. Thanks for the laugh.
Hi Laura. I just wanted to say thank you for your podcast. I’m watching all your episodes. I like your energy, and I love your knits. You have beautiful makes. I also love your honesty, when something doesn’t go as planned. It’s a relief to hear that’s okay too. I’m a beginning knitter and it’s a bit overwhelming seeing all these people knitting at such a high level. Thank you for your honesty about mental health, very courageous of you. I wish you all the best. 🌸
I went to Rhinebeck with my crafty girlfriends and I got a tee with a sheep smiling that says, "Sheep Thrills" 🐑 ❤️ knitting is getting me threw this pandemic with a TBI 🥰
I have said this before but just WOW you are amazing, I am still astounded at how many and how beautiful your knitting projects are. I am still struggling with my first pair of socks and its been 3 weeks YIKES. I really really enjoy your podcasts thank you for sharing bits of your lovely life.
Thank you for your generosity in the knitting community. Watched your knit Slip podcast and want you to know that as difficult as it was to do, it will make a difference for many. Thank you for your commitment to this podcast. You always tickle my pickle.
Love your personality, energy the beautiful knits you show. Thank you.
Congrats to the winner! I thought I was the only one who purled slower than they knit, glad I'm not alone. But, I guess I am, since you said you purl faster now... 😂
Thank you for being brave enough to share your story! You are a beautiful person inside and out. And you create beautiful things, too!! Congratulations on your pattern! 👏🏼

I look forward to your podcast so much. I am amazed at you the knowledge and skill you have in knitting especially since you’re a fairly new knitter. I have been knitting 40 years and I’m not as knowledgeable or skilled as you.

So enjoyed this episode, love your little daughters cardigan and your Mary Cardigan. You made my ironing zoom by LOL.
Thank you so much for sharing. I always love to see what you are up to. I really appreciate the designer spotlight. My Instagram feed makes it seem like there are only 10 knitting patterns worth making. It’s nice to widen the lens. Congratulations on your sock pattern!
👏👏👏congrats with the pattern!! Have a good vacation 🥰
Congratulations Laura on the release of your first knitting pattern, well done. The cardigan you have made looks amazing. Enjoy your holiday 😊

AHH! I am so glad you made the Mary Cardigan, it was definitely the most your style!
There's a t-shirt out there that goes something like this "What is there about K2TOG, K1, SSK that you don't understand?". I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling, but glad that you now have the tools to work on getting better. My son has a variety of anxieties and it's so hard watching him struggle, even with his receiving help. I hope your podcast is helping you as much as it brings enjoyment into other people's lives. Keep on keeping on!

Love your pattern and had to buy it right away. It functioned well on Ravelry. Thank you for all your encoraging videos 🌞🧶🥢
Hi Laura! So nice to see you so happy and excited! I love the tiny red cardigan you made for your daughter and if you ever need testers, please consider me :) I am amazed at your speed - 2 cardigans in 10 days? How do you do it? Also having 2 little humans in your life? I hope once I'm a mum of two I can be as productive. Oh yes as for the knitting as a second language, I can relate as well. What a cool phrase! I'm so looking forward to more episodes and seeing the Magnolia finished (lucky sister of yours!). Also how about we do some kind of a knit along? Have a lovely day, Marina
You are just amazing! I can't believe how much knitting you get done in such a short time. Hard to believe you've been knitting only a few years and accomplished so much (even Steeking WOW!). I am a forever fan!
Thanks for another great episode! I really enjoy your podcast! Your sock pattern is gorgeous. I have never tried colorwork but I think I might try it out with your beautiful pattern socks.
So enjoyed the podcast. And my word you finished your cardigan in 5 days, that’s remarkable. Your daughters little sweater is the cutest thing ever. Congrats on releasing your first sock pattern. They’re gorgeous.
Laura, I was so excited to see your Cornicette socks on Rav last night. Then I wake up to a new podcast and a generous discount code too. I'll be sure to get mine today. Looking forward to knitting them. Your cardi is beautiful. Enjoy your holiday.

It is always a treat to have another video of yours to watch 💕 Your knitting is so inspiring and I love the way you pair colors together! I have been into knitting and cross stitch since I was a teenager but a year and a half ago (when I was 33) I got sick with a neuroimmune disease and both of those crafts have become a real source of solace for me during this time. Thank you for being so open about your mental health and making your own channel a safe space to share our struggles. I haven't watched your mental health video yet but I will make sure to do that soon. I will also be purchasing your sock pattern and the Seaborn tee as well 🤩 I saw that Inga made hers more autumnal and now I have lots of ideas of color combinations I could do. Which then led me to thinking about all the combinations I could make the Cornicette socks haha
I'Hi Laura. I'm a first time viewer, and I just discovered your podcast after it was mentioned on the Jonathan's Days youtube channel. I enjoyed listening to you chat, and seeing all your makes. I picked up your sock pattern as well. I have a lot in my knitting queue but I will look forward to giving that a go one of these days, as it would be my first colourwork sock. I'll look forward to catching up on your previous episodes too.

I totally get what you mean about crochet. I don't like the fabric it makes, but I'd love to crochet more. I got the pattern for the thorbeck hat by debrosse. Haven't tried yet, but it looks like a knit hat, so I'm really excited!
Thanks for the holiday podcast!
Thank you for the lovely sock pattern just downloaded it this morning before watching😁. It will be another first for me now that I'm hooked on knitting in the round after years of knitting flat, it's time to move onto colour work. I do agree knitting and crochet are amazing tools for helping with mental health and have gotten me through many different stages and challenges in life. Well done and thankyou 💝

Hello from Canada 😊 I really enjoyed your podcast. Your makes are so so lovely and congratulations on the release of your sock pattern! 🥳 Thank-you for your bravery in speaking about your mental health struggles and for helping to make the topic more common-place. It's so important to normalize this type of discussion as we all either have struggled ourselves and/or know someone who has. I look forward to watching the series you mentioned. 🤗💕

Another lovely podcast Laura - you always make me smile. I too have suffered with anxiety most of my life and now at 63 I can only say I’ve learned to live with it. Talking does help as does having a hobby like knitting!😍👍🏻 Btw, have you tried Marriner yarns? They’re on line and also in Shaws haberdashery stores - I’m not working for them😂 I’ve just used their yarns for years and they’ve just brought out some 100% merino and they have self patterning sock yarns - not too many colours but beautiful and talk about reasonably priced!😱😍

Thank you Geraldine, I feel a lot of the time we are told that mental health is a problem to be fixed, but actually I think a lot of it is accepting your anxiety and finding a way of living that works for you. I struggle with social anxiety and now instead of forcing myself to go to events and things I don’t want to, I set my own boundaries and if I don’t want to go, I won’t. I’ll definitely check out that brand, I’m always up for trying new yarns! Xx
I love knitting as a second language!! I will certainly be using that line!

Just found your podcast thanks to Jooles of Sweet Violet. Knitting is definitely my second language - maybe my primary one🥰. Love all the time stamps - so helpful!
Thank you for the beautiful pattern you released! Can’t wait to start knitting it.
I cannot believe this, Laura!!! I did message you today about translating and only now I have finished watching this episode and realised that you did also talk about languages and reading patterns in this very episode….isn’t that an incredible coincidence?! Congrats on your first pattern release again! ❤️
Congratulations on your pattern release! I now have my very own copy! Colour work is my next thing to practice and I can't wait to knit these beautiful socks. There is so much to comment on in this video. Penny looks adorable in her red sweater. 💗 I love both of your new sock ideas, your sweaters, and your upcoming test knit pattern. Knitting is my third language. I was lucky enough to learn French and English simultaneously because my Dad spoke only English and my Mother spoke only French with me until I was 4 years old. Thanks for sharing your knitting journey.
I love watching your podcasts and all the energy you bring to them. Your sweater with the bobbles was very beautiful. I also think reverse stockinette looks backwards and try to avoid it. And finally, I think people need to understand that seeking help or counseling does not make you a failure or make you less of a person. In the end, it makes you stronger.
Love both cardigans. Your daughter is adorable and that cardi is so perfect. just a note- for most front closing cardigans- any gauge - knit or woven- button placement is pretty standard. your mum might have a sewing book. first and last button about 1/2 inch from edge to mid button. then the placement is approx 3 inches from center button to center button. usually one right at bust apex. 5-7 on most cardigans. love special buttons.

I thoroughly enjoyed “catching up” with you here while having some coffee and casting on a new project!! CONGRATS on the pattern release! That is an amazing accomplishment! I’m off to watch your episode on mental health next. As someone who relies (depends?) on crafting (quilting, mainly) to manage my anxiety, I can’t wait to hear another crafty perspective!

The sweater on your daughter is adorable. I would love to knit that for someone special.
You might want to watch the Yarnia podcast as Hayley crochet's garments and I have been surprised by the nice drape and the fact that they are cute garments. I am curious as to whether you have ever tried a knitting ring for color work. I typically steer clear of color work as I really have trouble managing the yarn and am considering trying a ring to see if it helps me.

Thank you Julia I will definitely check that podcast out!!! I havnt tried a ring no as my continental has never been that strong but I am considering it on my journey to master 3 strand colour work! ☺️ thank you so much for watching! X
I love watching your podcast, you're such a sweet and kind person and of course I love your content! Knitting is definitely a second/third language, but I also speak Farsi.
I discovered your channel right after the discount code expired 😭😭😂😂 Anyway really loving your videos!
I'm going to need the Linton pattern as soon as it comes out seeing as that's my son's name 😊
You totally cracked me up when you said "I can make the sounds" of language you don't really speak. My boyfriend always wonders because I find a way to communicate without really knowing the language. Anyway I speak czech (born and raised), german (as I live here), english, knitting, crocheting and SQL (any developers our there? 🤭) I had 1 year of french, and I can only remember how to introduce myself and say that I do not speak french 😅 but my teacher always said that I sound so nice, why can't I write so nice as well - well maybe because I was just "making the sounds" instead of actually knowing what I am saying. 🤣 Thank You for another great episode! Will buy the pattern once back from vacation (and then some yarn as I don't have any solid colors) 🙃

I’ve just found your podcast recently. Your projects are so beautiful. Your energy and love of knitting is infectious. I do want to tell you that knitting a hat or anything that needs structure does not work well in 100% alpaca. It really does not retain its shape. I’ve learned the hard way. It’s best to knit it with another wool fiber or a wool blend. Hope you find this information helpful.

Ooooh thank you Susan that’s really helpful! I though maybe because it would be stretched to the head it might be ok, but I shall take your advice as I want it to be spot on for the rest knit! Thank you!! X
I also forgot to tell you. There is a comment picker that doesn’t choose the replies. So yes, you can reply!
Random question - I plan on knitting socks over Winter and have bought sock blockers as I've seen them used on podcasts. I thought they looked big on screen. I bought size 5 and they're huge! The heel of my store bought socks doesn't stretch to the heel on the blocker. Won't hand knitted socks be stretched way too big?
@_laurapenrose_
2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm that’s a tough one as it depends on the foot/sock really! Socks are usually knit with negative ease so they stretch and fit tightly, so you do want the blocker to be big enough, but not too big of course. It will probably take some trial and error! X
