What a beautiful episode. I loved your tutorial about the cast on, I want to give it a go. I’m inspired by the time and care you (& the rest of your family) put into each knitted item. It’s definitely not about quantity but quality. Sometimes I think , especially with Instagram , there is this race to crank out items as fast as you can! And we’re always racing to knit the next new pattern. I’m feeling inspired to slow down and knit something expertly. And to not be afraid to rip back if needed!

Appreciate your comments about the Zweig... I knitted my lace section with a cotton/linen yarn and the body with Hedgehog yarn and it has turned out lovely

Emma lives near me I will have to visit her shop in Hook , Hampshire

Thanks for the tubular cast on reminder - I learnt this many years ago as the Italian cast on (and I mean it must have been about 1992!!) from the old German Verena knitting magazine (it's altered considerably since those days...). Here in Switzerland, Italian women used to be considered superior knitters, much as we now see in eastern Europe, very perfect and fine knitting. However, I later didn't knit for about 10 years and over the last 10-12 years since I got back to knitting, I'd forgotten how to do it and could only find other methods that seemed a lot more complicated, so am delighted you took the trouble to show us all, it came right back to me 🤗. I'll certainly be using it again, soon!

Another fantastic, informative and funny episode! Andrea, the way that you worked out how to make the yarn work for your Zweig sweater was genius and i also appreciated the tutorial on the twisted tubular cast on. I’m going to try it out on my next sweater. I often have to knit things twice, mostly because I have a hard time following instructions. I feel a bit better about it knowing that someone with your advanced knitting skills has to do the same from time to time.

Thank you guys for jet another lovely episode and I always look forward to hear which music peace's is going to be played in each program.. And I have to say, the choices are just excellent! So extra 👍 for that 😘 Hugs & sunshine 🌞 N

Ive made a zweig and love it!

I haven’t liked any of the other zweig sweaters I have seen. I think because the speckles seem to fight with the design. Now I have seen one I like! I’d say it is a good disaster for you!

Just join the two together and let them fight it out lol

looks fab! less memory in the lace will work in washing as you won't need to reblock the lace.

Hi Kelly. Great to hear that you're enjoying the show. The question about Jack is a good one. We used to go to Dingle in Ireland - also beautiful, and great music in the evening. But as you say, flying with a dog is really hard - and expensive. That's how we came across Wales. We drive from Offenbach over two days, taking the Eurotunnel. There is still a quarantine check on the way over to the UK, but as long as you have done everything right, and they can find the chip (!!!), it's easy enough. It is scary with the chip, though. Our first chip died, or disappeared. Fortunately we noticed it before we travelled, but it could have been disastrous.

interesting your predicament with the speckled yarn. It is very hard to envisage how speckled yarn is going to knit up when it hasn't been reskeined after dying.

Oh my goodness Alina (sp?) is so adorable modeling her Mom's hat design!

A terrific show, as always.I'm thinking of experimenting with the cast on with socks--stretchy sounds about right. BUT, Andrew, I want to know about your T shirt. Is it a Yarn Festival souvenir? It is great fun.

Not a big fan of speckled yarn, but I think the skein you got would make nice socks --Andrew can knit them for you!

PS Did you ever see the BBC series Secrets of the Castle about Guédelon castle in Burgundy, a 25-year project constructing a 13th century castle? Highly recommended for insights into castles, especially British ones!

I love the Zweig pattern. But I’ve seen it worn so much that it feels ‘too popular’. I like my knitting to feel unique. Any suggestions on how to do that with Zweig?

Andrew here (full disclosure). You could join our #modifyyourgarmentkal and turn it into a cardigan. You'd be a star across the knitting world. I did also think that it could be done in a single color, but I don't think that's a winning idea. Or "Fade Your Zweig"... Anyone else?

I LOVE Andrew! If I were about 20 or 30 years younger....(fill in the blanks)

ArRrRrRgh! It’s too small (0:32:22). So he started over!?! The pattern itself would take a side reversed pannel REALLY WELL to make up the difference! Arrrrgh! Knitting is all about innovation, from the very day it was invented. So, all those lines creating an arrow effect could have had an underarm thin side-pannel to join the front and back together ... reversing the monotony of the pattern, and created an extra eye-rest. Oh well. It’s what ‘I’EEEEEEEEE’ would have done. Alright. As you were. Knitters’ Rant over.

That kid was NOT cute! It was obviously looking at the person doing the filming, where that person was trying to get her to smile, only that was Not a smile! That was a Wallace and Grommet face! 🙄
