Very professional in every way, and very honest as always.
The Barra never stops amazing me that power over the wide rev range is bloody impressive.
Hell yeah Scott! Congratulations almost 500kw. Ford power
Yeeeeeeew, was hanging for the finale ✌
Great series Scotty, thanks so much for being so informative and transparent. Bloody incredible stuff.
Great series guys...Thanks from Alberta. Just North of USA.
Well done guys, very enjoyable content with honesty and good tech detail.
A Great final to a very watchable series Thanks for the journey Scott. :)
Fantastic series, with a fantastic conclusion and interesting, well done!
Thanks for doing these videos guys, I love watcching them and I always learn something
Scotty, I LOVE everything you do and talk about on here. You should make so much more content like this. I'd subscribe instantly
Hey Scott, I remember meeting you when you had your blue Datsun 1600 about 15 years ago!!!!
That was worth the wait, well done boys can't wait to go to the next level in my barra, as always Scott so informative and precise, love your content. Merry Christmas to you all.
Good on you for the numbers honesty, sometimes engines just don't make what you expect them to make and that's just life. That being said, it's packing a mean punch and I'd be proud to own that car. Keep up the awesome work, straight forward, down to earth videos, thanks Tuning Fork!
Firstly Scotty thanks for the effort you and your helpers put in to this project, very well done mate! Secondly Benny you are a top bloke and finally you can't help but be proud of how well this car turned out , truly top shelf. what a kick arse sleeper !!!
awesome!
Fantastic video. Great stuff!
Not a Ford person, but has been fantastic learning about engine management & tuning from the experts whilst having a few laughs along the way ✌
Awesome Scotty & Richard, hope your planning another series...different car (*cough* evo)
Excellent!
Love your work Scotty and Richo.
HaHaHa told my wife $1500 . The ecu is over $2200 talk about your work freebies. jokes aside this was a great series by Aussies who know there stuff. Found you through MCM who invented car vids on you tube. (Look it up people). Scott thanks to you and your crew. You are putting haltech on the map. It made me look at my 09 Fg XR6 series 1 with new eyes. (Hmm I could fix the hood lining or make it go faster. What to do What to do). I simply love this stuff Great Job Fella's.
Got a manual Barra work in Sydney and after watching this went looking for a G6E on Carsales.
Thanks heaps for the series guys got myself a g6e turbo in velvet a couple of months ago slowly doing mods
Peak horsepower is for bragging rights...meaty power curves is for drivers 👌
Very cool!
A moroso slide rule calculates ENGINE hp, based on trap speed and weight of the car, not wheel hp. 665rwhp is probably 760-780 engine hp, so the slide rule isn't too far off.

I thawt that's how it worked
Barra turbo, best bang for buck car on the Aussie market at a reasonable price easily!!!!
With the slide rule I noticed it started to not work about 20 years ago when turbocharged cars became more popular for street/drag cars. I believe it has a lot more to do with the torque and the way turbocharged cars generally make way more torque and usually lower in the rev range allowing to move more mass from a stand still faster. I had a n/a car and with a perfect launch it did what the ruler said it would.
Great video guys
Awesome series amazing car fabulous people
Hmm that zf gearbox with converter to suit is10k plus.Something the average bloke needs to realize.Great vid though well done.
18/03/21 great build!! Loved your style, humour and intelligence. You boys seem like some top blokes! I’ve just got a G6E, over here in NZ they aren’t that common, I’m excited to put a turbo in it and I’m after around 250-300rwkw. So hopefully I don’t have to change a shit tonne, still will be WAY cheaper then buying a thrashed g6et or xr6t!!
Great video Scott 🙌you definitely look different(not bad) just different without the glasses 👍oh and by the way it's just my daily driver😃 much love from Detroit😎🎅MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅🎁🎄

Very cool
The transmission cooler heats the oil up! , that's why the heat exchanger splits ! The coolant comes directly from the heater hoses, replace it with an air cooled oil cooler in front of the radiator. Great engine the Barra
@SuperRandykid
4 жыл бұрын
the zf autos like hot (70-90c) oil. some big air coolers can cause shifting issues, especially on daily driven cars. best option for a zf is the pwr upgraded exchanger, or a smaller air cooler that has its own fan and thermostat. need to be careful not to oversize them and have the zf auto run too cool, especially under boost. with the ford PCM the zf will (unsure with how the haltech ecu works with the zf TCM) command a torque reduction, different shift maps, etc etc etc... theres over 50 different shift strategies depending on load and temperature in the zf TCM
More builds like this please

This series and car has been sweet. And cool as to see you boys driving around in my neck of the woods. Whats next?
my kind of car... love it.
Great shit people, thanks for pointing out to everyone why the Barra and Falcon are legitimately heavy hitters. The four litre has excellent torque spread and tractive effort which is why it just hauls through the gears, especially once turbocharged makes for the perfect crossover of daily driving and track car. As to the question regarding transmission limitations, it's not to do with horsepower, only torque output. Every ZF transmission component has it's own maximum service limit of which I do have from a German tech they flew out to sort a valve body issue we had.
Been waiting for the results for so long there is just something about a straight six and how they perform especially the Barra I’d love to see some aussies make some good power on a budget with a 1fzfe good work guys
Nice work : )
Great series scotty, I wonder how long your engine will last before the pistons lunch, I was told by atomic performance after 400rwkw the ring lands can blow off the pistons, my fgx made 414rwkw on 18psi gt35r .70 comp housing, external w.gate etc etc, we pulled it back to 15psi 382rwkw to be safe. Thanks for covering all the info you did, Awesome
I'm glad you left the internals stock so we could know how much they can handle
Turbo noises make me happy.
Makes me want to buy a Falcon !
very nice video this is the sort of content people want, great storyline, factual and informative yet also fun and lighthearted at times , keep up the good work, barra content especially, and hope to see more of this or similar. This is my dream build :)
Tailshaft is the bit that comes out of the gearbox (AKA, 3rd motion shaft), that is a propellor shaft (AKA, drive shaft). It does bring up a good point, though, as many people will think of the gearbox upgrade, even the rear differential/axle assembly, but many overlook the drive* shaft which may be stressed well beyond the OEM design limits. With some vehicles, the chassis may also need upgrading at welds and/or mounting points. *Yeah, I call it that too.
@jeffsymons7084
4 жыл бұрын
In Australia it is called a tailshaft. For some reason car parts in particular seem to have varying names in different parts of the world. In some countries in europe it is often called a cardan shaft. Just like boot and trunk or bonnet and hood. Also I have only ever heard "the bit that comes out of a gearbox" called an output shaft. Maybe that is another colloquialism.
@thisnthat3530
4 жыл бұрын
@@jeffsymons7084 I've always referred to it as a "drive shaft", I always thought "tailshaft" was an American term... Maybe that's just an ACT thing or it's changed since the '70s... Also "the bit that comes out of the gearbox" was always plural (bits) and usually was preceded by a loud bang ;)
@29:00 the real answer is... you underestimated the Barra tbh 😅 love the clips 🙌👍 keep it up

Haltech very very true such a amazing car gotta love Australian made
Just on the transmission heat exchanger, I'm told the splitting problem was endemic to the ZF6 equipped BF models, and the heat exchanger was replaced with an improved version from the 2008 FG onwards. I've seen a lot of people on forums say you should swap this out and loads of horror stories, but very few for FG, FG-II or FG-X models. I'm sure they can fail as any water/oil heat exchanger can, especially with age, so still a good idea to replace it no doubt, but it does seem it is far less common from 2008 on so probably not something to get too panicked about.
@joytech23
4 жыл бұрын
I can definitely vouch for this, have an 08 G6E with 320,000km on it on the original setup so the exchanger seems to be holding up. Personally I would think it's a good idea on a car that's had any money spent on it, $600 parts & labor is cheap insurance for a box that might cost $8000 to rebuild.
@nordic5490
4 жыл бұрын
Correct. This is not an issue in FGs. You can order the current 2019 version and swap it out if you feel concerned. However, the tranny will not suddenly die, just misbehave. Fresh fluids and you are good to go.
@SuperRandykid
4 жыл бұрын
any of the models can have coolers can fail, there was 2 suppliers however later models are more likely to have the better cooler. if you look at the cooler and its a got a KTM symbol on it then your usually pretty safe. not guaranteed though as they are still listed as a consumable/replaceable part.
at 480rwkw, this should be running 10's. Stock F6 Falcons where running 11.95s...
This makes me want an FG now lol, Or a VF.
For comparison I managed a 1.9 60ft time in my FG XR6 Turbo ZF dead stock car with just a tune and cheap Chinese tyres and I’m a heavy guy!
That fuel economy, ouch. I get 11L/100km (vs 15.5) in a ford territory, the heavier AWD SUV version of the same platform as the falcon that uses the same basic DOHC i6. That said the stock FG G6E is rated 11.7L/100km so if they are getting about the same now as stock, it may just be a statement about the driving rather than the motor, but the multiple liters per hundred kilometers worse than its big brother says a lot about the compromises to fuel maps right from factory in order to try squeeze the extra 25kw (under 10%) more power it makes from the barra, and is surprising to me when you can essentially double the factory power of either without any further major compromise.
@A_lesson_in_Hate

I get 8.3L highway 15L local in a BF xr6t with 850cc deka injectors car runs mid 11s and that's Reading what I use at the bowser when I fill up not Reading the dash.
Knowing a bit of math, I've never understood the celebration of peak horsepower. As was said here, area under the curve is really much more significant.
😍😍😍
Thanks for getting the pizzas 😂
I've got a 2012 FG XR6 ute (n/a) that I've had since new. In really good nick with only 220k. Given the trade in value of Falcons is rubbish, is upgrading the box/internals/ECU and adding a turbo going to get me around the 4-500kw reliable combination that an original turbo car will enjoy, as you have shown? Or is there something I've missed? Will your setup pass a rego pollution test if it came to that? Will your ECU fit in the original box for added stealth?
So for all the parts & labour, to get a reliable 10.6 quarter mile time 500kw at the wheels, with a stock engine bottom end. It’ll cost $30-35,000 + the price of the car, all done?
2:44-3:02 got a bit Summernats on us eh? 😂
Stuff Benny's built 6 in it. Just to see how monster it can be
Any idea where to find stronger transmission parts or any sort of info on how to get the transmission to hold more power and torque fi have an ZF5HP24A and ZF5HP19FLA ?
800 American horsepower

hey guys. curiously. in this time.. was a trans cooler fitted or was the factory heat exchange unit used?
Surprised to see this had the zf 6 speed as it ‘08, was down to price or dimensions? Would the zf-8 be any better. I have the 6 and it’s a little bit meh for spirited driving.
Surprised this wasn't a 2part at 20min each (That would be fair, have a 3 day gap, double the view count and work the YT algorithm). Also going to miss the glasses, Suited ya. I look wierd with or without mine lol. Also having your eye sliced open F*** THAT!
