🚀 Dyno time! OEM vs Aftermarket ECU | OGSIXE - THE FALCON EXPERIMENT - EP 1
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
#barra #haltech #falcon #ecuswap #daily
Welcome to the first episode in our new series: OGSIXE - The Falcon Experiment.
Over the next few weeks Scott is taking his daily driver Ford Falcon G6E and turning it into something that he can still daily drive, but also have a lot of fun in when the time is right. Along the way, he's hoping to teach Richard a thing or two about ECU tuning.
In this episode we're doing a base line dyno run with the factory ECU, then we're swapping that out for one of our Haltech Elite Pro Plug-in ECUs to see if we can wake the stock Barra engine up a bit. What sort of power will it make? Watch to find out more!

being the stock ecu can be tuned also? when is it time to switch ecu's ?
@Revoku
4 жыл бұрын
@@deankdx some stock ecu's in some vehicles can be tuned very limited, and usually in sketchy ways, typically using a chip programmer and overwriting the fuel maps(done wrong can overwrite other data with various interesting side effects) and thats assuming the maker of the ECU hasn't done any horrible crap to stop you reading the firmware, when the ECU maker has stopped you from tampering instead mod companies use a bypass chip, that typically ties into the data lines from the original. these bypass chips are usually tunable in a very rough sense. A Haltech unit on the other hand is built to have everything adjusted and easily read out onto a display, it allows you to easily do, see, and adjust/fine tune so much more, way easyer. think of it like this, you want to hear what a cow sounds like, factory ECU is a babies phone with a cow button on it that says the cow goes "moo", a haltech unit is a 52" 4k UHD TV with built in youtube and voice command control showing you a video of said cows mooing.

This is going to be a great series! I’d love to see what the bolt on stuff does WITHOUT changing the tune. That would tell the average guy what he gets with just adding go-fast bits, and then what he gets if tuned correctly. That would be an eye opener.

It wont go that away, if youre talking engine parts. All parts they install to the car will be tuned in, thats the standard. No untuned mods
@NBSV1

There’s a pretty short list of things you could do before needing a tune to actually take advantage of it. An intake and some exhaust would about cover it. Even then you’d likely want a tune to take advantage of it. You could bolt on a bigger turbo and maybe keep it low enough to work with a stock tune. But, then all you’d have is similar power with more turbo lag.

This looks like its going to be one of your best series of videos. Most of us cannot afford the real race cars and in reality what most of us want is just a good every day pocket rocket that can still get the shopping done. Any excuse to use the car while satisfying all the other requirements of a slightly massaged family sedan. Do I hear Sleeper?
Pumped on this. Great work guys 👍🏻
I've been waiting for you guys to do a series like this! keep them coming!!

I'm absolutely loving this series. Watched the latest episode and I've never been able to sit through stuff like talking about AFR's etc etc. But for some reason I could listen to you blokes just talk about cars all day hahahah. Great job Haltech team.
Thank you for the awesome video!
Nice job boys. Keep it up.
awesome content :) love it guys
Great job, Keen to see where this leads.
I know that Haltech's specialty is engine management so the series is a sort of 'ad' for their product. But I believe it would be worth noting that the factory ECU's tune-ability is excellent and it has proven to be very capable as it's been used quite successfully in a significant number of high horsepower builds. A good approach would be to out-line the pro's of your ECU, in comparison to Ford's factory ECM. Logging capabilities and external sensor support for example.. Should be an interesting series regardless. Cheers
My new favourite show on KZread
Fk Yes. You guys have made my day. I own a stock FG G6ET (series 1 ) and was thinking of a Haltech and some basic mods. Yeah baby. Looking forward to future vids and results. Good call on going through the dyno numbers and what you are doing.

convinced i need one and havent seen it yet. Ill be buying a Haltech next paycheck,,, or the one after... but for sure very soon! love these videos you guys are awesome!!!
So good to see tuning fork doing something like this
Epic idea guys! Love this longer format with a bit of dry banter and technical chitchat that doesn't get too hairy. Realistic numbers/expectations, and standard boltons is a lot more attainable to us mere mortals (not that it isn't fascinating to watch Turbo Yoda frankenstein a car out of parts from 7 brands, 29 models, 4 parts catalogues AND his own fab work).
Very interesting, just purchased a 2013 fg xr6 turbo and looking forward to next segment 👍
Hek yeah, love all these group of lads mechanical stig yoda, and the fork
I like it 👍
Very cool video
Real live tuning, yay, can't wait to look at the software.
Can't wait too see this series, looks like it will be a lot of fun. Also makes me again wonder if your ECU could get me on the way to turboing my ecolpi? Now that's a real challenge!
Cant wait for next week mo power baby.
20min video from haltech, you guys feeling Okay, love it
I went from an AU2 ute to a FG-X ute recently and even though it's a base model, the 195 Barra in it is pretty powerful. I'm a Barra convert now.
This is gonna be good!
Keen as a bean for next episode 😍
Love how you went through the Safety aspect of dyno tuning. So many clips of people and disasters by Dyno tuning so safety good place to start.
I am tossing up between..g6e... Or ssv ... already built a LS1 and 2j 13b... going through a bucket list.. love the Barra
Love the G6ET
Having been down this road a few times myself, it's great to see you guys doing this. Great cars - I'm looking forward to this series! And hopefully, you can put all those "a Barra can run a 10 for $2K only with a tune" myths to bed. :)

I think the Haltech is much more flexible and can control much more than a stock ECU could ever do. Then there is a Haltech tuning software that makes it all come together.
