The Day ''230kg/507lbs Log Lift W.RECORD'' went up (almost) 3 x Times !!

Спорт

In April 2018 the World’s Strongest Man was Eddie Hall.
He came into the World Log Lifting Champs (Event 1 of Europe's Strongest Man 2018) with some big and brash claims of taking the final major strongman World Record after the Deadlift and Axle Press became became his in 2016 and 2017.
Burt Hall was up against it - the athletes included Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, Iron Biby, Robert Oberst, Robert Kearney of the USA, Radzikowski of Poland, Kieliszkowski also of Poland and the great Zydrunas Savickas - the Log Press World Record Holder.
Even with the opposition calibre being so high Eddie Hall was favourite to win as his power and consistent record breaking form at big contests meant fans expected a record
But what really made him up against it, was 3 weeks prior he broke his ankle. Something he kept quiet about as much as possible - until it became apparent from X-rays he shouldn't compete. But the decision was over turned as he began realising it might have to become his last contest.
The World Record then, as it is now, is 230 kilos 507lbs…
Big Z, aka Zydrunas Savickas, aka the 4x World’s Strongest man (considered by many to be the Strongest Man ever), also came here to compete! This may have been the last contest Z did bin true earnest - as he knew his 14 year old Log Lifting World Record Leaderboard domination could finally be over.
He has held the Log Lift record since 2005 (188kg) and had no intentions of letting it go.
Unfortunately, after a recent illness and still fighting old injuries, Big Z failed to make the 213 kilo lift.
The Log lift World Challenge of 2018, as it is also know by, still nailed up a few records… he Beast did walk away with a new British Record in the Log Press - no mean feat at a 213kg
The Beast wasn’t the only one publicly coveting Big Z’s long-held 228kg Log Press World Record. Strongman sensation, Iron Biby from Burkino Faso, also attempted the 230 kilo lift with hopes of making the magic press.
Hafthor Bjornsson also had a huge lift for such a giant man - at 6 foot 9 inches tall - he nailed an Icelandic record of 213kg and no doubt got some huge satisfaction at sharing the title with the beast on 213kg.
Despite not making his lift at 230kg, Iron Biby of Burkina Faso showed just how talented and charismatic he is being the third man to do 213kg that night. 3 way tie for 1st.
“I will go away, I will work hard and I will come back for that record.” Said Biby…
Big Z’s log record 230kg remains intact (for now, at least).

Once again two great men - Thor and Eddie - undoubtedly showed their class. But which performance impressed you more here - Hafthor or Eddie? Thor is so tall that to press a 213kg log is really extraordinary, but was Eddie's jumps an error? Could the Beast have added the Log to Deadlift and Axle?

Eddie absolutely would have made it. He had the power to lock it out (arguably more raw shoulder power than Z even in Z’s prime) it’s just that with the ankle he couldn’t stabilize it. And at the time they couldn’t reattempt the record a few weeks later like they have been doing with records set at home. Big Z I feel is the better log presser as his technique is much more efficient. But Eddie Hall certainly has stronger overhead power. Shows it nearly every time he lifts a log or axle, and that Kazmaier like no leg drive pure raw power press is just wow! I have no doubt whatsoever that if Eddie had another shot a few weeks later when his ankle was in better shape that record would have been his. (And if anyone doubts that just go look at Eddies world record axle press...he strict pressed it and made it look easy! He had at least another 10kg in him that day. I don’t think anyone had stronger shoulders than a prime Eddie Hall)
