You can paint the wood panel with gesso, that will prime it. You can also sand it first. I don’t know what he used but, you can use a piece of Masonite. The hardware store will usually cut it for you also. You can get it cut to the size of a pre-made frame, like 8x10, 11x14, 16x20 or buy the frame first. Acrylic and oil paintings generally don’t have glass.

i hate quotes like this cuz theyre wrong. if ur goal is to be a career artist, n ur unanimously not good enough yet, then everything u make is a failure, according to urself. u r literally failing to meet ur own self-defined goal. unless u can seriously live the whole "itS tHe JoURneY" bullshit. then again, tons of career artists have trash art. seriously theres some 17 yr old kids that should just get punched in the face n we all know it.

A year ago i couldn’t draw at all I was always the worst artist in the group and I decided to draw everyday and I did make a lot of progress for a year. My family says I draw good now and it feels good ,but I’m still on the level I want to be. I always fail and I’m trying to become amazing also started painting. You are not a failure, is amazing what you can do in painting. I am a Failure , as a self taught painter that lives in Portugal. Where in Fine Arts just post-modernist painters are supported by media. Living in big expectations or ambitions, goals, working on realism is like fight against the wind. But I am not afraid, I paint and don`t quit. I`m happy in front of my easel.

Your Studio Assistant is adorable, sending many pets from afar. Beautiful lesson as the narration of an equally beautiful painting.

Thank You so much for your advice! I have always been afraid of failure my entire life. But I have started a journey to look at fear as a recipe that just didn't work for me and conquer fear in my own way.

I have tried and failed at a lot of things. Creating art is so vulnerable. I needed to hear this. I love watching your videos! Thank you for taking the time to share your talent and words of wisdom and encouragement. I will do the same.
