I really don't see why this is not more noticeable to people. I've even seen extremely talented people transition from traditional to digital and are very satisfied with the "clean" results they were able to get, and I couldn't figure out why they would WANT it to look like that. I've seen some people argue that we've been "conditioned by experience" to believe textured is better, and people are looking down on this "new style" because it's different. But it's not as if people weren't doing clean and simple stuff before, treating it like the end all of a medium seem completely antithetical to creativity, which I assume is why a lot of people, even within the medium, tend to wrestle against it. At least a lot of professionals seem to.

I really like these videos where the artist freely expresses their thoughts. As long as they are not deliberately done for the sake of controversary, they are very educational. Even controversary is fine and may expand a persons viewpoint as long as it is genuine. So, yeah other videos like this would be great. Not as fun as watching you do a successful painting but still very interesting.

If I may, I’d like to build off of what Alpay said about the background being a boring color. In my opinion, there are no “boring” colors…but colors that are over mixed on the palette can look boring and lifeless. The great thing about a rich brown is that it’s made up of so many lovely colors. Perhaps you could try mixing those colors on the canvas instead of on the palette so that you can see hints of the individual colors that make up brown. That tends to create a more dynamic piece because your eye can float around and appreciate all the slight variations. Just my two cents. :)

One of the paintings you roasted by saying lack of nose, lack of mouth, you must clearly define, etc. etc. I absolutely love this painting. I feel something when I look at it. Isn't that what art should be. Technique, rules, etc. are great, but if art always stays within those parameters, how boring would that be. The alien effect of the undefined features gave the painting depth and mystery to me. I suppose these critiques are more for artists and less for those who appreciate art.

@@ichliebebaeumeweilbaum yes they are but purple and green are still kinda complimentary because red and purple are harmonious. Purple is a lot more compimentary with the green-yellow spectrum though

I can fully understand the giant signature on Instagram, if you're gonna watermark it that way. Viewers will see it for a fleeting second, and the easier you make it for them to know who made it, the better.

I’d say it’s fine for digital art to have bigger signatures especially if it’s stuff like KPOP artist portraits that are definitely gonna be screenshoted and shared by other people in the fandom, they can find the original artist by the signature, plus if it’s mainly gonna be posted on social media like Instagram.. people don’t really go on social media on pc, it’s gonna be viewed on mobile most of the time and a small signature wouldn’t be visible at all, and if it’s screenshoted and posted elsewhere by someone else it’ll be even more blurry and illegible

I personally feel like artists can sign however they want - it's their art. I remember smiling when I saw Van Gogh's first name "Vincent" painted on the side of his sunflower vase. Me, I mostly hide my signatures (only 3 letters long, so not too hard to hide), or put it small & low in corners of the painting where it's actually expected to be & thus not very noticeable.

People should learn how to zoom in. Honestly if you're just going to deface something you worked so hard on because of the bizarre theoretical cross section between people who can't zoom in to read a signature (if they actually care enough) and the rare soul so much more tech illiterate, or apathetic, than that, that their way of sharing something they like is taking a picture off their phone with another phone - you might as well not even bother making anything. It's like being afraid to step outside because you could get struck by lightning. Even better are the AI tools people have shown off on this site that can erase watermarks, and the like. Think it can't convincingly erase one gaudy signature before Thanos can stap his fingers? You'd honestly be better off just "hiding" your signature in the metadata, if not the work itself. No one checks that crap, and most people will just copy and paste a JPG - like a normal person, instead of using a screengrabber, or taking a picture with a phone of another picture on a phone like a spaz, or whatever weird grandma mode we're talking about. To put it another way: the amount a person cares who made something is not proportional to the size of the signature on it. Particularly if said person already disregards any deserved credit by default. But it's not about them right, it's about the people they are nonchalantly showing your work off to. Again - if they care. Online there are much better tools available for sourcing images than an old fashioned signature. Sometimes if your name is generic or obscure enough someone more visible dominates those search results anyway. You can't hide from the lightning.
