    One of the dishes we made in Home Ec class (anyone remember those?) was Tuna Noodle Casserole. And there were no generic brands back then (mid-60's) so Campbell's it was! And although I do use generic "cream of" soup in casseroles, sauces, etc, when I eat tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich, it has to be Campbell's!

    Ever since my college days I've always thought I was the reincarnation of a 50's housewife lol. The first thing my mother ever taught me to cook and still a favorite today is tuna casserole with cream of mushroom! Most also have a glaze that calls for rum and I use the extract for that, too. You can also use it in Butterscotch Cookies ,,, basically chocolate chip cookies except you use butterscotch chips (use instead of/with vanilla).

    Thank you for sharing. I am curious about the pool shock and how you make bleach from it. I have not heard this trick yet.

  • @wickedprepared

    @wickedprepared

    Жыл бұрын

    You want to make sure the pool shock is calcium hypochlorite (I don't have a pool but I think there are other types) and that's its at least 73% concentration. Then it's 1/4 oz (about a heaping tsp) of the powder to 2 gallons of water to make bleach. Which you can then use to clean, purify water, etc. The pool shock stays good for years so I like to keep at least one small bag of it on hand at all times. You just have to be careful because it's very corrosive to metals. It's pretty inexpensive so I usually buy a new bag every year or two and give the old one to my sister so I don't have to worry about it getting old (i like to keep things rotated). Besides we swim in her pool so it's the least I can do 🤣

    Hey David, thanks for watching! Ibotta is a rebate app, it's like using coupons except they give you the money back AFTER you make your purchase rather than taking the money off before purchase. You can check out ibotta here if you're interested in learning more! There are also links to it and all the other apps in the description box 😊 ibotta.onelink.me/iUfE/8cc13c64?friend_code=biqzbr Ibotta is pretty simple to use. You just put the app on your phone and browse through the list of rebates. You activate the ones you are interested in using and then buy the item. I mostly use it at Walmart, and i connected my Walmart account so it detects the items I purchased and adds the $ to my Ibotta account automatically. But if you don't want to connect your Walmart account you can just go into "redeem" after you shop and scan the barcode at the bottom of your receipt. Some other stores you may have to snap a picture of the receipt. Once you have $20 in rebates built up you can cash out. I always cash out to my PayPal and transfer to my bank account. (They also have the option of direct deposit to your bank account but my small credit union wasn't an option for that) There are frequently free items where you get back the whole purchase price of the item, and they make it fun by having bonuses that you can earn if you redeem certain numbers of rebates. They also often have "any item" rebates. I use several rebate apps but Ibotta is the easiest and best in my opinion! This is where you can get started: ibotta.onelink.me/iUfE/8cc13c64?friend_code=biqzbr referral code "biqzbr"

    Can you go over some of the price differences on Thrive Life? I've been ordering from them for several months now for mostly long term storage (but i have a kiddo on the spectrum that is addicted to the broccoli, so we get cans of those every month)

  • @wickedprepared

    @wickedprepared

    Жыл бұрын

    The broccoli is so good- isn't it awesome when our kids actually CHOOSE a snack that's so healthy?? That's fantastic! ❤️ The price on the broccoli actually went down but it wasn't one of the big ones- it went down about $1 on the family can. The biggest price drops we saw were on: asparagus, peaches, apricots, applesauce, Cherries, mangoes, Green beans, green onions, green peppers, kale, mushrooms, zucchini, yogurt bites, Diced chicken and pulled pork. Several of the complete meals went down and there were smaller price drops on just about every fruit and veggie and some other meats. The biggest price INCREASES we noticed were on the Scrambled eggs, chicken slices, Diced beef, and the chef packs- boo on those because they're all favorites of ours! Especially the chicken and eggs. I'm not sure why the sliced chicken went up but the Diced and grilled chicken both went down, that one's a mystery to me! If you want more specifics go ahead and shoot us an email and i can send over links to the actual price lists where you can see all the prices!

    Do you have a cat food recipe. For dry food I have a recipe for wet food I need one for dry. And he is very particular every evening if I’m home at 5 o’clock on the docks daylight savings time or not. He is telling me as Siamese cats do it’s time to eat. He is 1 tablespoon of wet cat food And it Hass to be seafood. And it can’t be pate! But he likes his cat food to be dry. Did I ever have my butt chewed off the one day that I didn’t put down his dry cat food for him! I think I’m out of the doghouse that was three years ago! But we need to provide for a person who’s coming times and I have a vacuum sealed some of his food and of course the canned foods. But pet food is so expensive. A year ago August 2022 I bought 5 pounds of dry cat food meow mix and I paid $3.22. If I hadn’t stocked up back at the beginning of spring I’d be paying for that same bag of cat food that no longer is 5 pounds it’s 3.5 pounds it’s approximately $5.88!
