Sticking to Strict High-Altitude Diets with Jessie Vargas
Ойын-сауық
In this episode of FUEL, we follow undefeated professional boxer Jessie Vargas as he prepares for a career-defining fight against Timothy Bradley, Jr.
The goal? Not a pound over 147. We traveled to beautiful Mount Charleston, Nevada to join Jessie’s high-altitude boot camp in preparation for his interim WBO welterweight title fight. Guided by boxing legend Érik Morales and nutritionist Cicilio Flores, Jessie endures long runs, calorie-counting, and closed-door sparring rounds in his pursuit of boxing history.

And as a journalist, telling them to speak their native tongue because they struggle with English is just rude. I've interviewed all sorts, trust. Having said that, subtitles for his English would have been nice, because I understood like every third word he said.

Insane what these guys go through for just one night that lasts 30 minutes. They are just incredible athletes. btw I watched the fight after watching this video. Vargas lost, but I thought he won. He even knocked the other guy down, and the ref called it off only to let it continue for some bizarre reason. I felt horrible for Jessie, he deserved to win that fight.

Jessie needs updated training advice. The science is in regarding altitude training as it's not as beneficial as training at sea level. At altitude, you can't push yourself as hard so an element of detraining is introduced to your body. What does help is sleeping at altitude to get the physiological benefits, while still training at sea level.

DO MATT STONIE!
There are many research that showed that bulking up and then cutting down is far better than maintaining a consistent weight. The premise is that when you bulk up and you gain strength, you end up retaining much of your strength as well as when gain back the weight. If you maintain a consistent weight, you don't gain that max strength. Research on cheating and several athlete admitted a loop-hoop... they take steroids, bulk and pump up... after a year with no drugs, they retain much of their strength, and when tested for drugs they are clean. The various types of muscles have been enhanced to its fullest potential and no drugs are present. Whether thy take drugs, plenty of research points that it is still best to bulk up and then cut down to maximize performance. I've never seen Vargas bulked up.... if you see several of hall of fame boxers during training, their pretty bulked up and then will lose their weight... during fight night the fighter looks puny, but deceptively very strong. Just like rock climbers, looks very skinny, but when measured the pressure force and strength of each muscle group are deceptively powerful. I've seen guys benching 100kg looking like a stick.
Do a cyclist diet please

I never understood the significance in weight in like boxing or wrestling. Well I do, but not for the drama around 1 or 2 lbs. Why can't it be like 147 lbs plus or minus 2 lbs? Is that too much to ask for?
@gchad7275

+93NissanAltima Because everyone would be making 149 lbs. If you want to be a competitive size, you aren't going to weigh 145lbs, you want to be as big as possible.

Bunnyontherocks Well actually Trump has hard working people of all races working for him right now, his national spokesperson (and future press secretary) for example. He's also doing better with minorities than any other Republican. And he's been a supporter of gay rights since the 80's when Hillary was against it. Do more research than just listening to a few sound bites and talking heads.

+Your Mum The media makes so much shit up about Trump. And people just believes it instead of doing their own research. Trump is the only candidate that's funding his own campaign. That means no special interest groups telling him what to do if he becomes president. Just remember that if you vote for any other candidate check who they get their money from. Because that's who their going to listen to if they become president.
