The only answer when you meet this entity is to actually say "Excuse me, I'm late for a meeting/school/curfew" etc, because she is actually a very understanding ghost and only turns malevolent when people actively interacts with her. And that's the yokai trivia for today.

The response to confuse her I first heard was to ask, "Well, am I pretty?" and then run. Always found that one funny.

I still legitimately think it's funny that if you tell her "I'm sorry, I'm late for an appointment" or something along those lines, she'll excuse her rudeness and leave.

@@yanisyaniso253 Not really. Massive cuts with a rusty blade can lead to infections, not to mention the fact those cuts would be happening near the face that can lead to brain diseases. And even if you did survive, you'd be suffering a ton physically and socially afterwards. You only have a chance of death, only much much slower.

MC's tactic is such a good one, though! If you're in a scary scenario but singing caramelldansen, the mood is ruined. No ghost will kill you when the vibes are off.

I've heard that if you ever find yourself suspecting that you're in a horror movie to just start walking like a dinosaur, because no one in a horror movie would start walking like a dinosaur for no reason. At the very least, the monster/killer will be forced to conclude that you're insane.

From what I remember she'll ask you if she's pretty, if you say yes, she'll show you her face and ask the question again, if you say yes again, then she splits your face open like hers, if you say no, she kills you on the spot. If you shrug and say she's average or throw the question back at her, you might confuse her long enough to run off. But Manly's point about Japanese urban legends stands, you're very unlikely to survive these encounters, like how The Ring was pretty much symbolism for how your doom is inevitable, you can run, but they'll still get you in the end

@@eodoare im not sure about the rain woman, but the anguished man has a pretty interesting story. They say the creator is unknown and the owner of the original print says he inherited it. With any "haunted" object, there's speculation. They say the artist mixed blood into the paint and killed themselves soon after finishing it. The owner has posted videos online, if I recall, such as one where he tried to record the noises it made, I think, and one where it was in his attic. Of course skeptics and believers argue *constantly* about the videos, so it's worth looking yourself. I can't remember what they're called, but the name of the painting may yield results. If you're interested in supposedly haunted paintings, you should take a look at The Hands Resist Him. The painting is creepy in general, but like any haunted object, has interesting backgrounds. EDIT: the channel is quite literally called "the anguished man" and the profile picture is the painting. Hard to miss. More has been uploaded since I've been down that rabbit hole, but the original recordings are there, too.

Nice to see both a solid take on this yokai but also these developers improve by such a notable degree. This is significantly better than Teke Teke, and makes me confident that their next game will be even better.

Asian horror games have always been one of my biggest favorites just love the way they do horror.

Due to 2020 and 2021 we all have become Kuchisake-onna. But on a more serious note relating to the legend, You can get away from Kuchisake-onna by 3 methods actually, 1:by describing her appearance as "average", giving the individual enough time to run away; 2: distracting her by giving or throwing money or hard candies (particularly the kind of candy known as bekko ame, made of caramelised sugar) in her direction, and 3: by saying the word "pomade" three times. It is impossible to run away from her due to her supernatural speed.

I was actually worried last night when it was 3 AM and Manly hadn't posted a video yet. Glad you're good my friend. Make sure to take care of yourself Manly.

That "UUUMM...." at 32:26 would be my exact response. I laughed so hard at this.

I remember some answers; Offer her candy. Ask if she thinks you're pretty. Tell her you have an appointment, and excuse yourself.(apparently she's very polite) Run home and place salt at the entrances, until you can visit a priest to cleanse you. Say so-so, or she looks okay. Now the story I'm familiar with she was the wife of a General/Warlord, who had fallen in love with her at first sight. He pursued her and eventually they married; it was a grand wedding and all in attendance greatly blessed the marriage. All who had seen the couple before the wedding could only nod their heads; this match was perfect. It was not long for bitter rumors to spread as she managed the home when her General husband was gone to training, taking down bandits or wars. Some would lament - poor girl, what a was of such a beauty. Others were vicious - we know she is trying very hard to steal the attention from our husband's away from us. She must be having an affair. The General/Warlords jealousy and distrust of his wife was fanned by rumors. One day he took her to town with him on his horse. During this time in particular a man who'd just moved into town came over to greet the General/Warlord, then he noticed the Generals wife, he comment how beautiful she was, then told the General how lucky he was. The General who'd gotten down saw the compliment caused his wife to smile and she was more beautiful then ever. This enraged the General, he rashly grabbed her arm and pulled her from the horse. With a swift movement he slit her mouth wide, leaving a terrible gaping mouth on his wife from ear to ear. The wife ran from her angry husband as he screamed at her for cheating. Everyone knew she hadn't, but stayed away the doctor refused to enter the gate of the home. After marring his wife's face and killing the man, the General left for 3 days. He thought she merely was angry and locked herself away in her room, but she'd committed suicide and had come back as an evil spirit. If you see her never answer her question straight forward, (insert various ways to survive).

Yooo- I remember being terrified of this urban legend as a kid. Pretty cool that it became a game.

I paused at 14:34 to draw a sort of Excel chart in my notebook just to solve this... If you suppose the Son is youngest, you'll hit a roadblock. But assuming the Daughter is youngest, you'll get: •The Son is the victim; •The Daughter is the witness; •The Father is the helper; •The Mother is the killer. I hope I got it right, lol. Edit: What?? I did _all_ of that so Manly could guess randomly & get it right on the first try?! Nah- *throws table* 😭😭😂

the riddle is set up wrong and it bothers me so much. I went in assuming that the son and daughter must be younger than the mother and father (because that’s how reality works) . However, the correct answer makes the son older than the mother somehow. They should’ve just made the riddle about 4 roommates!

@@SM-yz4hi It does work with both children being younger than the parents. The only deets that matter are the relations of their genders, & the fact that Father is the oldest while Daughter is the youngest. I can explain my whole process, if you want to know.

If she asked me if she was pretty I'd ask her why she cared so much what I thought about her looks then have a lovely therapy session with her to help her with her self image and get her to do affirmations to reinforce that she should love herself and not seek validation from random strangers.

And when they inconvenience others (e.g., airline seats), they should make accommodations to address the issues (e.g., buy two seats). And they should be expected to pay out-of-pocket for their own added healthcare costs. Because there's a difference between being fat and being a burden.

I saw the GameGrumps play a *Kuchisaka-Onna* horrow game for *Ghoul Grumps* a while back and it was terrible. This game is a 1,000 times better than the one they played. This game looks really pretty, too, I was inpressed by how good the vases and such looked. Also hearing Manly's *calm soothing voice* through whole thing made it a million times enjoyable! n_n

The voice actor of this game is actually a Japanese KZreadr who speaks english in his videos, Sora The Troll. You should check him out!

I actually really like this legend I remember looking at some stories about it when I was a kid and like pretend that she is there and I have to use smart words lol Thx for remembering me the good time❤ and keep it up!

何だって doesn't translate to "shit"; it means "why?" or "What" said in an angry, scared, or surprised way. But in English, that would sound weird in this situation, so "Shit" (said when you are surprised angry or scared) fits better. You might think then, 'why not say くそ?' which means "Shit". You can. A lot of the sentences said in the video are not direct Japanese to English translations.

Is it just me, or does the main character sound like Sora the Troll?

I know that a lot of people don't like their character talking during gameplay, but the bits of signing he does is incredibly endearing imo.

Oh my god, Kuchisake Onna. I remember reading about her four years ago. I don't remember all of it, but I was watching those bullshit vids that were like "Top 10 TRUE DISTURBING Japanese Urban Legends!" or something like that. Ever since I was terrified of her. I knew she wasn't real, and I was thousands of miles away from Japan, but damn, just the thought of her made my body itchy. Somehow I found my way to this channel and saw her on the thumbnail. And my actual first thought was, "This is her?" I had to look again. She honestly didn't scare me at all. Maybe because she is a game model so they can't really recreate the full scare of her actual look, but I ain't going on google to check what she really looks like. Still kinda terrified of that piece of shi- I MEAN urban legend.

That family member puzzle confused me really bad, I had to rewind at least thrice but still didn't catch on. I think it was the detail of the witness and gender thing. How did you answer it Manly? Ps. Thank you for uploading another entertaining video! Watched it while eating breakfast. 🐛

He mentions the most important one is the second rule that the eldest and the witness are different genders, which means that the witness is female as we know the father is the eldest. When written down, either the son or the daughter could be the 'youngest', and that reveals the real answer. The youngest can't be the victim because of 3. so either the son or the daughter is the victim and the other the youngest. If the daughter is the victim, the son can't be the Witness (2.), can't be the Accomplice (4.) and can't be the killer (6.). Thus, that combination can't work; leaving the son as the victim and the daughter must be the youngest, therefore meaning she had to be the witness because of 4+6; 1+2 reveals the accomplice is male and so by elimination only the mother remains as the killer. Hopefully that helps a bit :D

The father was the oldest member. Male. Youngest family member is not same gender as the victim(?). The father and witness(female) are not the same gender. Youngest is not the victim. Means youngest is daughter(witness). The family member that helped the murderer is older than the victim. Means son is the victim. Mother is the killer. Father is the helper to the murder. At least I think that's how the clues flow logically. Edit: In all honesty, my brain solved it faster than I could actually think through it fully. It's kind of like solving a math problem but the teacher wants me to go through the steps. xD

the riddle is set up wrong and it bothers me so much. I went in assuming that the son and daughter must be younger than the mother and father (because that’s how reality works) . However, the correct answer makes the son older than the mother somehow. They should’ve just made the riddle about 4 roommates!
