@@MeandMonAmi it looks like Ami has arrived in U.K. the first chap to order one was invited to test drive it. Not his own car though as the Ami is not ready to drive on U.K. roads yet. He drove the French one and he loves it. I will look for his video. He says delivery of his Ami is at the end of this month.
If you are interested in discovering unusual and very expensive things that happened down south, try this. It all took place about13 to 15 years ago. While I lived down there I had frequent occasion to pass along the coast road between Golfe Juan and Cannes. A short way after leaving Golfe Juan en route to Cannes you will find on the right hand side; I think it is near a bus stop, or it used to be, a big white stone retaining wall set back from the road. One day while passing this wall I notice some men digging at the base of it and wondered why as the wall was totally sound in appearance. Over the weeks then months following, a hole appeared in the ground in front of the wall and proceeded towards the road. Half of the road was dug up and a BIG trench was made. This was then made into a sort of underpass and the road was put back on top. The next stage was to dig up the left hand lane and repeat. All was reinstated as new as the trench now came up against the railway line. Then, they dug under the train line and on towards the beach. Are you still with me? The only information that I ever found out about this was an article in, I think it was the Cannes version of `Nice Matin' where, apparently, a journalist made enquiries as to the goings on and came up with the information that a Swiss Promoter; no idea what he promoted but it obviously paid well, had bought a villa on the land above the white stone wall and another on the beach which was some way below it and the other side of the road and railway. The digging was so that a lift shaft could be made from the villa on hi, down to a level beneath the road etc and give access to the beach villa. The access tunnel was to be large enough to allow an electric golf caddy type vehicle to enter the lift at the villa and be lowered to the beach access tunnel allowing an effortless journey between the two. The only information that the journalist received when he asked who had given permission for this huge undertaking was, as I remember it. "It came direct from Paris" Now that's what I regard as influence. I did take a gander on Goole earth and the best I could make out on the high bit behind the wall was a gert big villa set, well back. from the retaining wall and appearing to be enclosed in its own land, so the tunnel must have been quite long. Good story Richard. I think someone tried to do something similar on cap Ferrat but was forced to install a dreary old funicular instead..
Great drive! I do wish they would hang a "SEIZED" sign on the gates of these villas. And love Mr. Boo's fancy new sunglasses...😎

@@MeandMonAmi That would be most presumptuous of me, Tim. After all, you coined the term, I simply put a definition to it. Speaking of coins, I've been trying to come up with another sentence or two that might include the term. How about: With neither two coins to rub together nor any friends in high places, Johnny was not known for his oligarchiness. or: As he had a monopoly on the supply of textbooks to Russian students, Arkady Romanovich Rotenberg was considered by everyone to have reached the pinnacle of oligarchiness.

Another beautiful video, but just two things 1 - I'm defininitely buying an electric car, apparently they can drive anywhere with no regards to traffic signs, loved it, imagine if the oligarch was making his escape coming down the other way. 2 - The fact that you two live in that area, either you are millionaires or live in your car, which one.

The brothers Boris and Arkady Rotenberg are not only the owners of two villas, but of several luxury properties on the Côte d'Azur, but also of hotels, palaces and luxury villas in Italy and Spain, a chalet in Kitzbüehl, Austria and properties in Switzerland as well as USD 150 to 200 billion in Swiss banks according to the ASD (Swiss Bankers Association), without forgetting the complacency of Germany vis-à-vis its Russian friends. To be able to freeze these assets and these properties, the difficulty lies in being able to confirm the identity of the owners hidden behind a pyramid of complex offshore companies. The list of Russian oligarchs is very long, and for nearly 2 decades, hundreds of billions of USD have escaped taxes in Russia. The war in Ukraine cost literally a bomb (no pun intended).
