The stutter story man so effortlessly brushed away from his villa by Maugham was Patrick Leigh Fermor. Another fascinating character and for me the greatest travel writer of the 20th century! !

An absolutely perfect video. May I add some personal memories. Working for madame we had a private access to the coastal path which her son used when he went diving. Often the family would share the fish he caught for Saturday lunch. There is a second gay encounter spot which you forgot to mention and our garden overlooked it. Madame was always intrigued why she could see naked men wandering around. I met Alan Searle in my youth; had lunch with him and a group of friends near Bournemouth; the first time I ever ate lobster. He had a private table at the la Reserve, Beaulieu, which was dressed with his own china when he dined there; he also tipped generously all the staff. I once visited Blenhiem Palace with someone extremely close to Alan and the guide was showing us a chair saying it was one of only two in the world and Roland perked up saying yes I have the other one. As I draw towards the end of my life memories become more important; thank you fror reviving so many.

@@MeandMonAmi My lover at that time was introducing me to the world of the rich. Unbeknown to me they jokingly told me that Alan would expect me to kiss his hand. When we met he was old and not in the best of health so held out a rather limp hand and it was only the laughter in my ex-lover's eyes that made me aware that I could shake his hand rather than kiss it.

I recently discovered your channel and am quite enjoying it. As for cruise ships...as a recovering sailor (as in sailboat), I never expected to be attracted to cruise ships. But like anything else, one size does not fit all, and if you find a match that fits your needs, then cruising can be quite enjoyable. Interestingly enough, we have cruised many times with the company pictured in this video and aboard that very ship and will continue to do so. Smaller, in this case, is superior to a floating zip code.

I would go banans on a Cruise. Nothing for me I'm afraid. Thanks for highly entertaining stories of the rich and famous. When I was twelve I wrote to Maugham. I was so proud , I had read an entire novel in English, Maugham's Mrs Craddock. He sent me a photograph of himself in profile with a dedication! I was quite shocked. To me he looked a hundred years old and very stern looking.

I must admit I came here for the Ami because it’s such an intriguing little car. BUT, I have thoroughly enjoyed all the videos, the walks, the scenery, the photography and the views. I love the tongue in cheek comments and the common sense Yorkshire attitude in such a glamorous and sometimes fake environment. I love the tiny villages perched on the mountain tops and the absolutely fabulous food. I also love the fact you tell us how much it is!! Brilliant. I’m now trying to work out a way to drive my new ish Citroen C3 down there or even brave such a massive journey in my little 1991 Renault 4 Madam Valerie!! Now that would be epic. Even simpler than Elton. Anyway Tim and Mr Boo, you’ve grabbed my attention and I’m looking forward to lots more wonderful videos!!

We’ve so enjoyed watching your back catalogue of vlogs, beautiful production and a great story told. We spent a night in January camping in our little van on plage du passable a few years ago, the little toilet on the beach was a lifesaver 😂.
