Every toxic Wanda stan has the same arguments. They either deny all the actual evidence that proves Wanda was fully aware that she holding people hostage in the hex and mind controlling them all. Or, they accept those facts but then justify what she did but deny that they are justifying what she did. They all say, “I’m not justifying what she did, I just understand why she did it.” And then I reply, “I understand why she did what she did, that still doesn’t change the fact that what she did was immoral.” Then they reply with something stupid like, “everyone would do the same thing in her position.” Sorry, but no. Not everyone would resort to becoming a selfish evil person because they lost loved ones. Or they argue, “But she was grieving and it’s not immoral because she eventually let everyone go.” So, according to these toxic stans, it’s not immoral to hold people hostage and force them to do things against their will as long you eventually let them go. Stay away from me psychos.

If only Marvel treated Thor’s grief with this much care. They made the fans sympathize with Wanda’s grief while justifying all of her selfish evil deeds after this. Meanwhile, they just treated Thor’s grief as a laughing stock for the sake of fat joke to the point that being fat is so sinful that it made him not worthy of the throne and he had to give the throne to Valkyrie (who sent countless slaves to their deaths for her drinking money). @Supremecon Prime Overlord MCU Valkryie was an enslaver who spent countless years ('you always bring me just the best stuff, she brought me my beloved champion' - Grandmaster) enslaving people, including one of her own (Thor), to send them to be imprisoned and fight to the death in the Grandmaster's games. She then refused Thor twice, once at knifepoint when he begged her to help save their people, and was happy to leave him enslaved until he broke free, where she was even going to attempt to enslave him once again until Loki used his magic to remind her of her past. This enslaver is a better candidate than Thor to be 'king'? Just because he was a drunk, guilt ridden mess for 5 years when she spent countless years doing that as well as refusing twice to help her people and enslaving people?

What shocked me was when she said that “Good, there will be some left to raise them” line to Reed. Like isn’t her whole purpose is to be in a world with her children, well “children” and be a good mother but she’s perfectly fine with not only killing a variant of herself to be with them but also purposefully windowing a wife and hurting a family by killing their father/husband. Y’know you’d think a person who’s gone through that sort of thing wouldn’t want to inflict that same pain onto an actual family; an actual mother with very much real children

The thing being she didn't break the rules intentionally, even once she realized, she figured everyone was happy with her, realizing it was only her and everyone was suffering she stops, in what if strange didn't stop until his universe was destroyed, that's the difference.

If anything, people's simpathy for Wanda goes to show just how much we've elevated emotions to godhood and how self centered as a society we've become. Wanda suffered...so what? Every sentient being in the universe lost something because of the Snap. And how many sons, fathers, daughters, mothers, brothers, and sisters did Wanda take away from people just because of her own feelings & emotions? Does their suffering not matter either?

Also, it's kinda gross how she barely mentions the loss of her husband - Vision - who actually was real. And instead laments the loss of her imaginary children...who she conjured up because she was grieving her *husband.* I had such a "what the fuck did I just watch" feeling when this movie ended. The same feeling I got after watching The Last Jedi.

The thing about anti heroes is that they do bad things with good intentions. Killmonger from Black Panther is an anti hero, Riddler from The Batman is an anti hero, Magneto from the X-Men (from both timelines) is an anti hero Wanda did whatever the hell she wanted just to be with the kids she never had, instead of asking America to help her find a universe where her kids were orphans and in return she would help her track down her parents. Edit: I think this is the definition that matches with Wanda the most. *An anti-villain is a character who has heroic personality traits or goals but is ultimately the bad guy in this story. For example, an anti-villain may have noble goals, but their means to attain that goal are evil.*

I myself have 2 kids, and I can't relate to her at all. She just came off as batshit crazy, and it perpetuates the stereotype that women are "just crazy." She was not a well written villain. There were so many different paths she could have taken.

I get hung up on the fact that she made up two kids that turn out to actually exist in other universes. ....actually,if that was the extent of how far they're asking us to suspend our disbelief,that would be fine. You could even explain it away with the whole "dreams are actually visions from various versions of you in other realities" BS that they toss out there in this film. But that is NOT the extent of what they're asking us to buy into. These two kids exist as Wanda's actual children in EVERY single reality other than than this one. Really!? EVERY other one!? Even all of the ones in which Thanos successfully snapped half of everyone out of existence--including Wanda,mind you--and then successfully prevented the Avengers from undoing it!? Because there were literally millions of those. And I'm afraid that I will not be able to accept any explanation involving some kind of distinction between alternate realities and possible futures of one specific timeline. This film did not mention any such distinction,so it must be assumed that there isn't one to make. If there HAD been,it would've been carefully spoonfed to the audience in such a way that would have made it impossible for anyone to either misunderstand or gloss over that information.

In Wandavision I was kind of able to sympathize with Wanda because she initially created the hex unconsciously. Keeping the hex after realizing that she enslaved a town was immoral but I understood her dilemma. Now that she gained so much happiness by regaining Vision and getting children I understand why it took her long to give this all up and that it was hard for her. But MoM was pure insanity. Wanda was nuts and was an absolute villain. She was purely insane in that movie. Elizabeth Olsen saved the role with her amazing acting skills but a redemption for this character is hard to imagine.

There are those that are still shocked that she was portrayed as a villain in the new movie, but it was pretty clear that she already turned into one halfway through her show. When being confronted with the fact that she's enslaved people, she refused to let them go and instead, went on to enslave more people. It's not that I hate the character, in fact I fucking love her the same way I love my other villains, like Darth Vader and Thanos! The only problem is, everyone clearly sees Vader and Thanos as villains. But for Wanda, they attempt to justify her actions and claim that at the end of WV, she would go on a path of redemption immediately. Did they miss the part when she was literally studying the Darkhold moments after running from the law?

@Mon The biggest issue is that they don't really address those mistakes or hold Wanda accountable. She was told in the show, "they don't know how much you sacrificed for them" as though Wanda actually sacrificed ANYTHING for the poor people of Westview. And in Multiverse of Madness, Strange tells Wanda," You made it right in the end," when she clearly didn't. Redemption arcs can be very powerful, when written well, but these writers pretend like Wanda already "fixed" things and that her crime is already paid for. And Wanda basically gets away with enslavement without so much as a slap on the wrist or a hint of remorse.

She held an entire town hostage and tortured them, because she lost her mind when Thanos stole the batteries out of her sex toy. Yeah I’d say thats psychotic behavior.

Dude, you can criticize Wanda's actions, but don't insult Vision. Artificial or not, he was/is clearly a fully sentient being and one of the purest souls in this universe. The guy was a hero on par with Steve and Thor, and deserves more respect than he gets. no, because she lost her parents via a bombing when she was 9, and had to lay there for two days straight anticipating for another bomb that landed in her house to go off with her brother, then, she became a lab rat for hydra, then she lost her brother, then she lost sokovia, then she did the lagos thing, then she lost vision, suffice to say there were way more reasons why it happened, one of the reasons being it was unintentional.

I didn’t think she was an antihero at all, I saw her as a villain. I think the dark hold has had a hold on her life since she was a kid, but she had vision and quicksilver to keep her on the side of good. And when they died the dark hold took a “dark hold” on her life

Honestly I already don’t think that having good intentions means your suddenly a grey character even if your hurting innocents, especially if your intentions are just selfish and “good” for you and you only. This is why I see thanos as a villain, and not an anti-villain. This is why when I started Farcry 5 and spoiled myself that apparently Seed was right, I still call him a villain because despite the fact I have no completed the game, you can’t convince me that all the countless innocent people he kidnaps, murders, druged, and tortured, and raids is now justified just because the villain has a point.

I wish I could say this was surprising to see people react like this, it isn’t. I had this classmate in college who defended Wanda’s actions throughout both WV and MoM just because she was in pain, she lost everyone, she’s a woman (yes, they tried to say that), blah blah blah. My biggest issue is with how the studio/filmmakers are trying to justify it rather than simply let crazy be crazy. And agreed, seeing a Wanda stripped of her powers is not only a great punishment, but has the potential for a great story.

@@TheMovieCynic Justify it? What is the difference between showing Wanda losing it over the course of her movies and showing why Joker becomes Joker? Why are you shitting on one and sucking off the other? Exploring the villain is not justifying the villain.

Idk why people are acting like it’s so revolutionary that Wanda is a character experiencing loss (or the idea that it somehow makes her actions justifiable?) when Drax, Starlord, Thor, etc have had multiple loved ones taken away from them too. And when those characters do something irrational due to their grief eg Peter not being able to control his anger towards Thanos for killing Gamora, they actually realise they’ve made a mistake and try to learn how to cope better. Also wanting to beat up the guy that killed your girlfriend is extremely tame compared to slaughtering or torturing loads of innocent people in the hopes that it’ll bring back the loved ones you lost, yet the whole fandom was so angry with Starlord. Also where the fuck is Vision during MoM and why does Wanda no longer care about him? I felt like that was so out of character for both of them to not seek each other out immediately and it’s a huge plot hole that I struggle to look past. :/

There was a deleted scene at the end where white vision and wands look back at each other and wanda know he is not the same man she once loved and has his memories but cannot connect with her the same way the original vision did so they look away from each other and fly off in different directions. But it never made it into the series and instead we got wanda just looking back at West view instead

Also Thanos, similar to Strange, sacrifices a lot, even lives, with the ultimate motive of saving the universe and preserving life as a whole. When he accomplished his goal, he destroyed the stones because it was just temptation to abuse its power. Wanda's motivation is purely selfish.

THANK YOU! Glad to finally see someone objectively critique Wanda's bullshit. The amount of Wanda stans defending her horrific crimes is frankly disturbing. And another thank you for calling out Wanda's roll in creating Ultron. So many people solely blame Tony when it was Wanda who triggered that.

They made me go from loving Wanda and her being my favorite female character in the MCU to hating her and wishing that somebody would just un-al!ve her. I went from feeling sympathy for her to feeling like she's a lunatic. And the constant obsession of Billy and Tommy didn't help at all. She had them for literally a span of a few days and now she is going to kill everyone to get 2 little boys that aren't real? At least in the comics they had her lose her mind and she couldn't tell what was reality or her warping powers. In the MCU she knew good and well everything that she was doing was real and the kids were not. Marvel dropped the ball on this one.

She was corrupted by the darkhold. Literally stated and shown many times in the film. That book is KNOWN for making even the purest of people do unspeakable things to get what their heart desires. Wanda's deepest desire is to have peace, her sense of peace is family and love. And ironically wandavision and doctor strange made her one of the most beloved characters in the mcu and she definitely has one of the biggest fanbases now. Wandavision made me care for her, which made the doctor strange movie even better for me.

But it also fills you maddening knowledge and gives you power beyond your wildest dreams. So, since she read it, she should have acquired the power to simply make her fake kids drawing from some dark source. That would have been a brilliant way for them to implement her making her children from the pieces of mephisto's heart or energy. But let's forget about that comic tie in. Let's just focus on what the dark did and should have done to Wanda. WHY DIDN'T SHE JUST REMAKE WESTVIEW? The darkhold corrupted her adn made her a mass murderer and made her will to k!ll American Chavez, A KID, and steal her power so that she can go to an alternate dimension where Billy and Tommy exist. That reeks of lazy writing and terrible excuses for them to introduce the mary sue America, uplift the female characters, and belittle the male characters. Agents of Shield got the concept, effects, and use of the darkhold.

I also suffered alot in my childhood and life and unfortunatley retained brain damage from it, which made it hard for me to show empathy or to react rationally sometimes. When i first watched the movie i felt some sort of...understanding and familiarity towards Wanda. At first, i was like "oh, i can totally understand her reactions and the way she acted without thinking twice" but when i realized HOW she was acting and what she was doing, i was completely in shock "Am i like her? Will i also turn into a villain someday by reacting way too wrong and acting apathically towards other people?" and i was absolutely devastated. I didn't wanted to become the villain, yes, i suffered a lot and it hurts and there are a lot of moments where i just wanted to take revenge to those who hurt me this way...but it isn't worth it. No matter what i do, it won't change a single thing about me or my past, it doesn't make me feel better if i go off and take revenge, it will just turn me into the villain that i never wanted to be. So, i understand why she was reacting the way she did and i understand her pain, but it doesn't justify what she did. Yes, she can mourn, she can say that it is unfair and that she deserved better (she did) but sadly, a person like Wanda doesn't know how to react rational, because in her head she literally convinced herself that she was being rational and that everyone else is in the wrong (i know that feeling way to much and it can be scary sometimes, but it's nothing more than the pain talking) So, i liked her as a character - a truly traumatized and frustrated character - a truly mentally scared and broken woman, but it still doesn't make it alright that she killed and enslaved all of these people. So, if you are a person who can relate to Wanda and would still justify her action and think what she did was fine and that it is a 'normal reaction' i want you to know that there is help out there, you don't have to turn into the Monster that Wanda herself became, you can heal from your wounds and become a better person. Your past doesn't define what and who you are. Yes, it hurts and i understand that you feel left out and unfairly treated - you probably did. But acting like this and becoming violent and revengful, only hurts you more. So please, go and search for help, i wish you all so much better and i hope you know that a life living in peace is better than a life searching for revenge on people who aren't at fault for what has happened to you (or people who have already forgot about you) (Also, please excuse my bad english, i am from germany and i still struggle with writing in english haha)

This the best comment I've read so far. To be honest everything you said made sense and I felt every word of it very deeply. There is something about wanda that seems so relatable and realistic. I too ponder the question ''what would I do if I was pushed just enough?'' or ''would I lose it like her if I were in her shoes'' when I watch her. To be honest when she said '' I know about self deception more than anyone'' when confronting with strange, i lterally shed tears when she said that, because I too act as if I am happy and fine, but so broken deep down because of my traumas. I thought everyone around me cared about me, always trying to find excuses when they werent there for me, but only realized their hypocrisy and and selfishness just recently. That's why when she said ''despite your hypocrisies and insults, i nearly begged you to get out of my way. youre exhausting my patience.'' I really felt that, because that's also how I feel about the people around me. Have been too patient for everything they did but now ran out of patience. Maybe that's why I relate to wanda's pain and frustration this deeply and see inside of her mind so clearly. Maybe she reminds me of my own internal struggles between keeping it together or losing it completely. Maybe she reminds me what kind of a person I can become if i lose my ways and drown in my pain. Maybe deep down I want to get revenge on them, to make them pay for what they did, but just like you said, it is not worth it. Those people are not more important than our own self value. We should understand ourselves and love ourselves instead of searching that love from outside sources. Thanks for this amazing comment, it really felt good to be understood.

I’m a Wanda stan. Just not THAT type of Wanda stan that justifies her actions. I just HATE the way they wrote her character. It seemed the writers never knew what they were doing with the character. One second they were writing her enslaving a whole town then the other she was saving a group of military men. I was so confused. She was more of a villain, but she was also doing heroic acts. I stan the Wanda I wrote in my head, a much better, well-written version of Wanda where she wasn’t given the stupid villain justification of “I’m murdering everyone just bc I want to be with my kids.” Fuck the scriptwriters. I love Wanda bc in my head she wasn’t terribly written.

I feel like WV explored her grief, desire, love, happiness and her becoming more unstable and darker as if the show itself is hinting her upcoming role in M.o.M... She already was thr Villain in the show but they tried to justify that by implying that she mostly didn't know she was holding a whole town hostage but they also showed that she is quite delusional and will do everything she can do to see her loved ones again since she didn't even listen to her own robot husband when he told her that the town's people is in pain. I feel like she knew in some extent that she is holding this town on her own but she didn't know that her own magic is making all those people feel her grief. HER GRIEF IS LITERALLY POISONING THOSE PEOPLE MENTALLY. And at the end credits, they showed us a glimpse of her reading the darkhold which later served a very big role for her to be evil. And yes those kids were real in the hex.

I really thought Wanda vision was going to end with Wanda finally seeing herself as the villain, with Agatha turning out to be her own worst impulses, her own worst version of herself fully realized and materialized into physical form. Apologizing to all those poor people, rebuilding their town, leaving, and vowing to never let this happen again, to do better, but, I guess not.

Dude she blew Black Bolts brains out, split Captain Carter in half, snapped Xaviers neck, buried Captain Marvel under a rock, and tore Reed Richards to shreds. Not to mention holding an entire town hostage against their will. There has to be some consequences for all that. Can she ever be redeemed? Yes.. but her road to redemption should be long and hard. This is not something that marvel should just sweep under the rug

I actually think that the point of Wanda’s character was to show how it looks like when someone lacks empathy - thus I believe the writers intended to show exactly what you’re arguing (at least that’s what I took it as). It shows you how many people who we view as “evil” are actually driven by deep pain that they use to “justify” hurting others. I took it as a warning sign that we should be careful with our intentions because while they may be “good” if unchallenged they can cause deep harm to others and you’re right - no amount of hurt, betrayal, grief or pain justifies hurting others - often subconsciously. It shows that Wanda doesn’t lack empathy because she doesn’t feel - she lacks empathy because she feels that her feelings matter more than anyone else’s so she disregards them.

Interesting take. And a fair one if the writers intended that, but from the comments and responses I’ve seen, a lot of people take it as justified behavior. Which is bizarre to me. It definitely feels, to me, like Marvel was trying to push a warped sense of morality, in a way saying “hey we’re going to have Wanda let these people go, so she’s still a hero! Believe us!” It was… weird to me. Thank you for the thoughtful comment!

@@TheMovieCynic Marvel has always had a warped sense of morality. In fact, it's what drives the plot in many of their movies. In The Avengers (2012), Loki states that most of the Avengers are cold-blooded killers, particularly Clint and Nat, and he was right. In fact, many of the Avengers are killers. What separates Wanda from them, is that she chose to target mainly innocent people in her quest for a better life for herself, while most of the other killers were simply following orders from their superiors. The more I think about this, the Avengers seem less of a superhero team and more like a team of fucking mercenaries. The JL, on the other hand, has a better grip on morality and the responsibilities of being superheroes. Batman and Superman each have strict "no kill" rules. Even vengeance is highly frowned upon in DC, as when you attempt it, you are no better than the villains you fight. For the Avengers, well, they chopped off the head of a defenseless Thanos.

@@knightmare_edits I don’t follow DC Comics besides Batman but as far as I’m aware, you’re right about the JL having higher morality. (I do think that’s what makes Marvel more popular; fantastical heroes for sure, but ones that connect with people’s humanity more. A bit more grounded if you will). You’re spot on with your take on Wanda, I think. My video echoes those sentiments about what’s different between her and the other marvel heroes; she’s doing things for her own, selfish reasons and the other heroes, if there is a price to pay, are typically (or always) doing it for the perceived greater good or out of a selflessness.

@@TheMovieCynic I guess that is why many people (like myself) love Wanda as a character. Human beings are selfish - no doubt about that. Combine that with emotional trauma and unlimited power, it's almost certain that they would go down the wrong path. I enjoyed seeing her as a villain, and the fact that they didn't tone down her powers like many MCU characters. Despite that, my main issue with this film would be the nonsensical decisions that the characters make - blame bad writing! It's prominent in many Marvel movies to drive the plot forward, otherwise the movie will be over in the first five minutes! For instance, why didn't SW just impregnate herself with twins like in the comics? With her current skill set, it's absolutely possible, and she can even make them look like the twins in her dreams. The whole "what if they get a disease" is the dumbest fucking line ever, and that is coming from a literal reality warper. It's obvious that the writers needed to dumb SW down just so that the plot could move forward.

No that's not what the writers are doing. They want us to be sympathetic to her. People in the show and in the movie speak to that.

The funny thing is that they could have easily made Wanda look so much more relatable as a tragic hero by willingly giving herself up to the authorities and agreeing to be taken for rehabilitation once she realized what she'd done. It was obviously a pragmatic choice to have her run away so that events could line up for the beginning of Multiverse of Madness but it undermines the sympathy that the writers were clearly trying to foster for her. In First Blood, when Rambo finally has his breakdown in the police station and walks out willingly with Campbell at the end to be arrested, it was a good choice because you felt like Rambo was truly sorry for the things he'd done, even if he wasn't really accountable for them in any real moral sense. The fact that he was able to empathize with the people he'd hurt let you know that this man wasn't a monster and he was worthy of a second chance. ...That kind of nuance is totally missing from WandaVision. It's like the writers really were only considering Wanda's marketability to audiences going forward rather than any actual characterization.

Yeah, this story worked so much better in the comics. Like, sorry Wanda, you don't have my sympathy because your kids were never real. If you care for them so much, sure, learn more magic, go somewhere remote and re-create them, but maybe don't do it in a suburban town, enslaving tons of people and robbing them of their kids? Both Agatha and the SHIELD guy were the good guys here, because they tried to stop this dangerous magical psychopath.

What Dr. Strange did was stupid, but at least he tried to completely fix it, and wiping out memories to avoid hurting specific people is objectively more moral than continuous mind enslavement. Not simply mind manipulation, mental enslavement. And wasn’t Wanda the one responsible for entities in the multiverse coming to her universe in Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness?

I'm impressed by how phase 4 writers are so good at destroying characters. I agree with all of the things you said about Wanda except for one part. I interpreted the Wandavision post-credit scene as she learning about her powers since conviniently there's a chapter for the Scarlet Witch and it's the only magical book that she has in hand, then she seems surprised to hear her children calling for help. BUT THEN AGAIN IT MEANT NOTHING. I was invested in Wanda, but her series simply had a horrible ending and the character development that she had in her own series was ignored by MoM's writer that didn't even bother to watch Wandavision.

Gynocentrism is the reason so many people don’t see how evil Wanda has become. It’s the wife who abused her husband to the point where she gets the government to continue doing it for her when they falsely convict on domestic violence chargers and send him to prison for a decade.

Wanda: "Ima take a whole town hostage im so sad wahhh 😭" Bruce: "I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues. But people need hope to know someone's out there for em"

Up until Strange 2 one could argue that all Trauma & loss she experienced over the years (growing up with war, witnessing your parents die followed by fearing for your own life; as an young adult losing your only family left, being branded a criminal & danger, losing the love of her life before disappearing for several years yourself, then returning & losing your mentors and friends, aka the last bit of stability you had left) simply became too much for Wanda & her psyche, so when she had a mental/ emotional breakdown, her powers got the better of her and created an illusionary Safe Place where she was at home. So she would not suffer anymore as Wanda could not take it anymore. She lived in that illusion until she was confronted with reality and I think it was then that Wanda chose to be selfish & to stay inside her illusion, even if it caused others pain. She eventually let everyone go and did feel guilty for what she put the townspeople through, but I think she mostly wanted to return to that make believe home, even if it's an illusion. Everything is better than havingto deal with the pain, from her pov. And I think in Strange 2 it shows how far Wanda is willed to go, in order to live in that make believe world. She's ready to do whatever it takes, focused on that task only. No matter what she has to do or whom she has to sacrifice. I think from here on out, Wandas journey will only further spiral down, similar to the comics. Does her trauma justify her actions? No, absolutely not. Am I surprised she finally snapped & basically lost it? Nope, I think it was about time. Do I think she'll have a Redemption Arc? Possibly, though I think it will end with her dying for good. She could either become a villain who almost brings down the entire universe with her before being stopped OR she could see her wrongdoings in a minute of "clarity" and sacrifice herself. Either way, I am curious where this will go. And yeah, Thor deserves better but I think Marvel's "He's a man, he has to push through. Trauma is for the weak, so we play his loss and trauma for laughs" - mentality shows & I hate it. Many characters deserved better but I guess with their actors not signing new contracts, we can forget about that.

What If Strange who was selfish and trying to get Christine back even had to deal with consequences of his actions… He didn’t go out of his way to kill others either. His actions just led to their deaths/erasure/merger. They might as well make Wanda a straight up villain I don’t see how she can be redeemed

I would be okay from a writing perspective with everything she did if they just committed to making her the villain she is. Instead they want the bad guy stuff while shouting at as that she is still justified and that's what makes this a mess for me. She is awful and I'm okay with viewing her as a fallen hero turned insane by her powers and grief. Instead they try to compare her actions to Strange and say they are the same... They are not.

She could've been a great villain if her evil side had much more build up over more time It's very easy to understand and sympathize with her over the loss of vision and her "kids" but it should not justify enslavement and everything else She had quite a lot of potential as a tragic hero turned villain, but it was done horribly

Strange made a sacrifice simply praying that everything went the way it was supposed to. Giving up the Times Stone knowing he'd be snapped too. Wanda made a sacrifice... Of everyone around her excluding herself Strange's sacrifice was for the universe Her sacrifice was for herself

I love Wanda because she's an interesting character, not because she's a good person. In real life I'd be horrified by her actions, but I find her an entertaining and ocassionally sympathetic villain.

Good villains have understandable and rational reasons for doing what they do, or they acknowledge theyre own insanity and do it anyway because they dont care and it brings them sadistic pleasure. Wanda is neither. She doesnt acknowledge shes insane, nor do the rest of the cast, and she has no justifiable reason to do what she does.

This is exactly how I feel towards Wanda! People can love the character, and acknowledge that they’re not a good person! Calling them out on bad things that they’ve done and stating how wrong they were, doesn’t mean that you’re criticizing how bad the character is.

I don’t get how is everyone upset that Wanda is a psychopathic selfish, when in the previous movies she was introduced as a villain at first, and she abandoned her surveillance to attack Ultron and avenge her brother, which causes the fall of the town. Wanda was always an antihero with questionable methods, which caused for example the death of civilians in Lagos. This is all what Wanda is. She is very powerful but with very questionable methods that can end up problematic. Contrarily to nearly every other Avengers, she never wanted to be a hero, she only wanted to live happy. She is very comparable to Magneto, who suffered a lot and tried to put down the humans in revenge for his loss. Her story in MoM is very comparable to the one of Magneto in X-M’en Apocalypse, where after he loses the little bit of happiness he constructed, Magneto rejoins Apocalypse to provoke the end of the world.

@@SM-cv8sv nah in Doctor Strange 2 she is the main villain and brutally kills a lot of people and their deaths are filmed as horror deaths. In that movie she is portrayed like Gloria from Buffy season 5. Even if Strange says she is « justifiably angry » he says that just to say what she wants to hear. He says also to the guardians of the temple that Wanda has the potential to destroy the multiverse. Wanda is clearly the villain in this movie. As the adage says « Either you die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain ». It has never been more true than with Wanda.

I love how wanda finally learned her lesson at the end of wandavision just for the dumbass writters to completely destroy that and shove it into hell. Honestly, this is all on the writers, they literally destroyed her story. The sad part is they could have taken it in a completely different direction.

Wanda fans liking her despite her obvious immoral actions is not exactly justifying what she does. Its more liking her anyway. Its like people who still like the Joker, even tho hes a psycho murderer. Yeah theyre fucked up but people like the character anyway. You just take their comments far too literal.

(this is just my opinion btw, no disrespect intended)

I am so glad that someone finally said it out loud .... Wanda is not a hero ... Just because you have trauma does not make it okay to Traumatize others ... as a character I think she would be great if she just took the damn responsibility of her actions unapologeticially instead of "Im not a monster Im a mother" ... No ... you ma'am are most definitely a monster ... one of the most horrific ones ... which would be good thing for a villain but they keep trying to switch over .... there is a certain point after your hero cannot be redeemed and they are beyond saving and I think Wanda crossed that line ages ago

The whole Sam Rami Spiderman trilogy dealt with these subjects way better.

This isn't Wanda's fault, it's Marvel's terrible writting 🤣 I actually wanted a team up with her and Strange. They really ruined her character. She should have been sent straight to jail after Wandavision.

It's not at all uncommon to be held prisoner for someone else's grief - Wanda's story arc represents a real phenomenon. We're not meant to feel true sympathy for Wanda, other than to understand her motivation, however self-serving it is. Strange doesn't really believe she was justified, he was placating her narcissism, which is often necessary to get what you need from a narcissist.

I love this ^^ and is basically how I took it, but didn’t feel that’s what the filmmakers were fully pushing. If they were, it’s odd how many people responded to it with real sympathy. It’s how many people that I saw with the opposite response of yours-they have pure sympathy for her-that made me want to do this video.

I think there's a strong difference between having to massage someone's emotions during grieving and being enslaved by an unhinged super villain to the point where you wish you were dead. I'd say that's fairly uncommon. Maybe Strange, who should be smarter, was placating her, but the MCU somehow thinks she's deserving of respect. Witness Rambeau telling her that no one will ever know what she did for them. The kids are fake. Screw those fake kids.

I'm a woman and feel the same way about this character. I just watched the Dr. Strange movie and thought she was crazier and delusional than the Joker. I've never seen her show and after seeing this glad that I haven't.

About that when she said she doesn't like to kill . before entering the sanctum and after landing after killing many people . SHE DECIDES TO KILL A INJURED PERSON ON THE GROUND . Sad that a good actor and a good character to go waste because of poor writing

I think that, although people realize what she’s doing is wrong that she hast to be stopped, they can empathize with her as women because she’s lost everything she’s ever loved. It’s all been violently taken away from her. You can only take so much loss and death. She literally had to kill the person. She love the most, and it didn’t even matter in the end. That would be hard to take.

Either Raimi shot a scene explaining Wanda's descent into madness better and it was edited out? Or Michael Waldron's a hack who clearly disregarded the tone and "development" of Wanda in the Wanda-Vision scripts.

It was shown at end of WandaVision. She was shown reading the Darkhold and then hearing her kids cry out. I don’t think they need to show her descent into madness when they already simply state that the book corrupts everyone that uses it.

@@Cuzjudd that’s understandable. And you are not missing much with WandaVision. It’s literally Wanda holding a town of people hostage and mind controlling them. And Marvel’s message is that it’s justified and excusable because Wanda is a tragic antihero so she shouldn’t suffer any consequences and everyone should pity and forgive her.

I was so sure Wanda was gonna get some sort of redemption from WandaVision in the Multiverse of Madness, not fall deeper into evil

She was going to destroy two whole universes in this movie via incursions, Thanos only wanted to eliminate half. They've wasted her on a Dr. Strange film, they should've kept her for the next Avengers film, until we get Kang or Doom as the final boss.

@@knightmare_edits that was the original plan, Wanda wouldve been an ally to Strange fr most of Dr Strange 2 till she became evil at the end and wouldve become the villain in the next Avengers film only for that jackass Michael Waldron to change it and be like "oh no! we want a cool villain for MoM and thats why Wanda was evil from beginning till the end of the movie"

A character is only as smart as the people who wrote them.

Problem isnt that she did all this. We do bad choices,we make mistakes,we behave selfish sometimes. Problem is writers frame her still as a heroic person,as a victim. If a man held a town hostage because he is sad,he would be labeled a villain.

I will say, I am a “Wanda stan.” I’ve enjoyed this character since her debut in Winter Soldier and in Age of Ultron. I loved her powerset (it was very reminiscent of Jean Grey who I am a huge fan of) and her look. To me she was just cool and I’ve enjoyed watching her journey in the MCU. I loved WandaVision and I loved finally being able to explore her grief and what she went through and how it affected her. I could understand why she did what she did and why she was compromising her morals just so she can be happy. She had been through a lot. I’m not saying that what she did was right in any means. Enslaving an entire town just so you can be happy is definitely not something you should try to justify and I hate how that’s what they tried doing at the end of WandaVision and why I think so many stans try to claim that Wanda did nothing wrong. I understand that Wanda never truly intended to hurt anyone and that when she found out at the end of the show that she was causing all these people so much pain and suffering that she decided that the hex needs to come down. It’s been shown throughout the movies and in the show that Wanda never wants to hurt people. In Age of Ultron she felt tremendous guilt for her part until he creation of Ultron. In Civil War she also felt tremendous guilt for the people that were killed in Lagos because of her trying to get rid of the bomb. She even had a discussion with Vision in that movie where she talks about how she believes herself to be a good person but because of her powers and the mistakes she has made people fear her. In WandaVision, despite the fact that she was knowingly mind controlling a town, she believed or at least convinced herself that she was actually improving the lives of everyone in Westview. Like she felt as if what she was doing was wrong and probably knew it, but she believed that she was creating this perfect world for everyone and that they were all happy and at peace. So, when she found out that that wasn’t the case, she immediately resulted to bringing the Hex down. I loved how that added more nuance to her character and made her a morally grey character. That is interesting to me and one of the reasons why I love her so much, but I hate how they handled her at the end of the show. I hate how they tried to justify and make her enslaving a town okay because she was grieving. I hate how they made Hayward the villain of the show when he was just trying to save the people of Westview and I hate how they have Monica that like about “Wanda’s sacrifice.” I wish they handled that a lot better because you have people now claiming “Wanda did nothing wrong” and all that. If they whole thing is to redeem Wanda because she is a tragic hero has had fallen and hurt a lot of people, have her hold herself accountable, have other people hold her accountable, and have her work to atone for what she caused in Westview and work for her redemption. I think what they should’ve done in Doctor Strange 2 is have Wanda trying to work on redeeming herself and make up for the pain she caused those people and if you wanted her to be corrupted by the Darkhold and become a villain (which makes sense for her character with what she has been through) have that happen throughout out the course of the movie and have another movie where she is the main villain. Another thing I hated with how Wanda’s character had been handled is her sudden heel turn in DS2. Like yeah it was cool at moments, and Elizabeth Olsen did an amazing just acting, but it was very jarring and hard to take in because we left her in a somewhat state of peace at the end of WandaVision. I just hope Wanda gets a proper redemption if that is the route they decide to take her character. I personally think that she needs one. I hate how much hate the character gets because of the bad writing and the Wanda stans that glorify her actions. It makes the character look bad and it sucks because I think she is such and interesting character and has so much potential.

Agreed. Wanda’s definitely not selfish, but she can still be an on-off villain. That’s what she has in common with Magneto, and I love Wanda because of that.

Thanos was just grieving over the loss of his planet he’s a misunderstood hero 😏

The Bucky argument doesn’t even hold up because we see Bucky being tortured and reconditioned and even sent on missions but Wanda becomes evil offscreen You can bring up solid points like this and they’ll still say you hate powerful women

Oh and here’s another point: Bucky faced consequences for his actions even though he was mind controlled. It goes to show that there are still consequences to events of death and murder, even when your not in control at all. People will want to kill you for killing and hurting their loved ones, it doesn’t matter if your In control or not, it’s cause and effect. Wanda faces no consequences and is in control of her actions. No victims have come after her yet like how Ironman and Black Panther tried to kill Bucky. Wanda has not been punished for the terrible things she’s done, and no one has came after her. Not that they can anyways now, unless your talking about the innocent Wanda.

@@GabesEdtiz yeah, it’s not really fair, which is why Captain America was trying to defend Bucky in that situation since he was the person B in that situation, and this is why the debate of team Ironman or Cap was a thing, because bucky and cap are not to blame either (it was that one guy in the movie). I was trying to bring up the fact that Bucky still goes through some sort of punishment compared to Wanda, even if it’s not fair for Bucky.

@@GabesEdtiz Tho I will admit there is a problem in my comment because once again that parallel won’t work against 616 Wanda because there is no person A in the movie that’s fully controlling Wanda. There is her corruption that amplified her wants from the book that she went after, but the real person B in MoM is the innocence Wanda, so that’s gonna suck for her like how it does for bucky, since she might have some new character trying to hunt her down for shit was mind controlled into. Also there is another problem now that I think of it…I don’t think anyone could hunt down main universe Wanda. Everyone left we know with powers in the marvel universe wouldn’t be able to defeat her, and even if a superhero/villain of a relative of one of Wanda’s victims suddenly tried to do so, they’d be dead, and it’s not like Wanda would ever willingly decide to go to some super max containment prison, or as if it would hold her down, unless she willingly decided to stay.

That makes sense, prolonging a character arc because the actress portraying that character is beautiful, I'm sure that's only been going on in Hollywood for decades, Elizabeth Olsen just happens to be the latest that's all.

Agatha? The witch that KNOWINGLY (unlike wanda) practiced dark magic and murdered her entire coven? Say what you want about agatha but she was NOT trying to hold wanda accountable, she literally only arrived at the hex because she felt immense power, she's extremely selfish as she was literally slowly killing wanda for a power that she could never use. @@kysdie9979 Agatha was incredibly selfish, and her main objective was indeed to gain power. But part of that included holding Wanda accountable, i.e., “Heroes don't torture people.” So, while that wasn't Agatha's goal, my point still remains. I never meant to imply that she was an innocent person who didn't deserve to be punished, because she did, but just not in that way.

This is why there are not any real superheroes. Any person given extra ordinary power would eventually abuse it no matter how just they think they were.

Soo many Wanda fans because she is simply relatable. She wants just a normal life family life, she just wants people who love her. She has no one and her situation from the start was filled with suffering with her home and parents bombed and traumatised as a child then during her development she was influenced by Hydra. Lost her brother and then vision. Then made a family by accident where she's been the happinest she's been. Even though was not real, it felt real to her and letting that go and going back to her dull lonely life as before is hard and it was a sacrifice for her. Her struggles of just wanting a boring normal family life and being rejected by it is what drives her actions and it is selfish however as a gay man, I do empathise with it. Wanting a normal a life there are alot of struggles to just want things that a ordinary person would take for granted without being discriminated. I do agree in MOM her writing was awful, especially when Wong suggested to just take her to her children then kill her to protect her children from a illness, where she can change reality and easily solve that. I do think Wanda is character as of from the Boys , she's not perfect but a mentaly broken character who needs alot of therapy and a friends who understands her

I mean their deaths are understandable, black bolt was the first to go as he was the only one who could stop wanda, and reed literally tried to GRAB her 😂 the other two only survived longer because they actually jumped her and used their strengths properly

If I'm being completely honest, I agree with pretty much everything you said about her being a selfish narcissist; and call me crazy, but that's why I find her character interesting. I guess I'm looking at her character and overall journey from a different perspective; I kinda see Wanda as this person who, in a sense, is NOT meant to be your standard hero archetype. I kinda understand why she acts so selfishly due to the fact that she desperately wants to replicate that same feeling of having a family considering the one she had as a child had been taken from her. Plus, every time she attempts to, whether it be just her brother, the Avengers, or her family in Westview, it always never works out for her. She joins Hydra to help kill the Avengers -- it fails and her brother is killed, she joins the avengers a year later to right her wrongs -- to the team is disbanded and she is sent to prison, she tries to leave a live in secret with Vision (despite the fact it's implied she wasn't meant to because she's a vigilante) -- they're ambushed and Vision is killed at the end of IW. And of course, the entirety of WV and MOM is her attempting to find that same happiness again, but she's a villain in both cases. Her decent into a villianous vile person was a result of her not being able to let go of the past and move on. Compare that to other characters who dealt with similar issues: Cap, Tony, Natasha, and to SOME extent, Thor; they were able to move on and become better heroes because of it. Wanda, however, simply couldn't. Also, I want to stress that nothing she does justify anything she did and I feel like she herself knows that. Which is why I think she just offed herself at the end of MOM. This is the pattern I've noticed with her. To put it gently, I've kinda seen this downfall coming for a while, but personally, that's why I enjoyed WandaVision (not the ending) and to an extent, her character. I guess what I'm saying is that while I agree that Marvel seems to be pushing way too heavily into the "She is tragic and you should feel sad" angle (and yes Wanda Stans are toxic as fuck!), I don't think that the people who DO feel bad for her and see her as tragic should be discarded; there are reasons people do feel bad for her, the problem lies if they don't acknowledge her actions. I feel like if Marvel pertained a balance between her being "tragic character" and a "villain", then I think her character could've been amazing and we can all be on the same page. As it stands, I understand if you or anyone else hates her character now because yeah MOM was pretty terrible and script was bad. As for me, I acknowledge the good and the bad traits of wanda and I still find her at the very least enjoyable. Even if we don't agree, I respect your perspective on this video and I appreciate your efforts working on this video! :)

That's fine. But there are two problems: 1. Thor has gone through the same arc, and his pain is ignored or played for laughs 2. That doesn't excuse the things she's done. If Steven had taken the Darkhold and killed people to find a universe where he could be with Christine, you can bet EVERY SINGLE AVENGER would hunt him down and kill him if necessary. Wanda's was let go scot-free twice before MoM barely got started.

@@silverscorpio24 I mean, we literally see two variants of strange who take the darkhold and use it to get back with Christine, one even while living a relatively good life, with Christine still alive, resulting in the deaths of trillions, and his own team (the Illuminati) struggled to kill him, because he was corrupted and it wasn’t fully his fault. and how was Wanda let go Scott free twice before MoM? She fixed her wrong doings in westview and left, not really sure what else she was suppose to do or what you’re talking about there, and the darkholds corruption played a major factor in the bad things wanda did in dsMoM, after she broke free of it’s corruption, and destroyed the darkhold in every universe and then herself, to attempt to make up for her wrongdoings, I don’t think that’s getting off Scott free. And the avengers aren’t really a thing anymore, not until we officially see the reestablishment of them as a team, most of them had no idea what Wanda was up to anyway, I mean, nobody seemed to notice the immense loss and suffering she was going through either 🤷🏻‍♂️ Also, I’m not sure why you brought Thor up, yes he went through trauma and the writers arguably handled that trauma poorly, but his and Wandas arc are not alike, there a many major differences, but this doesn’t have anything to do with Him anyway.

@@coltondettmer3793 Both Wanda and Thor lost people because of Thanos. Wanda lost only her boyfriend. Thor lost his best friends, hist brother, and most of his people. And left Thor to die in space. Thor has gone through much worse than Wanda has and handled his pain a lot better. Also, let me ask you this: if a criminal burst into a house, tied every resident up in the living room, and made them watch as he tortured and killed the family dog, then let them go and left, would you say that criminal is a good person? Do they not belong in jail now? The whole town of Westview is going to need therapy, including the *children* because of what she did. And she never acknowledged that what she did was really wrong. And as far as the Avengers not caring about her, go kick sand. Hawkeye lost his best friend. Pepper Potts lost her husband and her daughter lost her father. Bucky lost his best friend. They all lost loved ones but Wanda is the only one that gets to torture people without consequences? With regards to Strange, Illuminati Stephen was killed for his crimes. And you can't use that as an excuse anyway: either the Darkhold corrupts its user into pure evil, in which case Wanda wouldn't have been able to stop herself in MoM and I-Strange was rightfully executed, or it drives them to evil but they still have control over themselves, but that would mean that Wanda's a psychopath and the Illuminati didn't try hard to help their friend. You can't have it both ways.

@@silverscorpio24 Wanda went through more than just losing her boyfriend, she lost her brother, parents, and by the end of endgame, she was left with nobody, all while being scrutinized by the general public, seen as a monster, weapon, ect, never truly treated as a human being and even after trying to come to peace with visions death, and wanting to bury him, she was told no, that she was to powerful to have possession over HER boyfriend, even while being his rightful heir, and shown that he isn’t treated as a human either, he’s just a weapon in the eyes of the world, just like her. Sure, I can agree that Thor handled his pain in a healthier way than Wanda, but their circumstances aren’t comparable, whilst grieving Wanda unconsciously created a pocket dimension stimming from her grief, giving her everything she had ever wanted, a normal life, and loved ones, her immense power basically set her up for destruction, which is why her powers are the main differentiation between any other character, she can have everything she wants, but she learns that it will cost the lives others, obviously she’s gonna struggle with letting that go, anyone in her circumstances would, especially after what she’d been through, and what was left for her in reality. And I’m not saying what she did to the people of westview was right, it definitely wasn’t, but she never meant to mind control them in the first place, as far as she knows, they were still freely living their lives just without the knowledge of visions death, and the change of time periods, that is why Agatha was even able to slip into her hex in the first place, because she had no knowledge of the people she was controlling, and up until halfway into the series, had no knowledge she was controlling them in the first place, and once she learned every aspect of their lives were controlled subconsciously by her, she immediately let them go, the “torture” they went through was only present because they lived a couple days feeling what she felt on a daily basis, evident by the line “we feel your pain”, I think that says a lot about Wanda’s state of mind. The west view situation is far more complex than just kidnapping and holding people hostage, her powers add a whole new layer to that, which is kinda what wandavision is all about anyway, how would a human with great power but unstable and suffering mental state handle such immense abilities? And we see an accurate depiction of what a grieving woman with god like powers would be. Wanda isn’t being held accountable the same way a criminal who kidnapped and held a town hostage would because that is an oversimplification of what happened and if you watched WandaVision you’d know that. And I was confused by your darkhold comment, wanda herself isn’t really a psychopath due to the fact that she was corrupted, and I pointed out the variants of strange who became corrupted because they show a good example of what it does to a blank slate of a person, (supreme strange living a good life yet still becoming corrupted) but the reason she wasn’t immediately hunted down and killed was because she was too powerful to be killed, maybe if the avengers all teamed up and tried to kill her, they’d have a shot, but they didn’t, strange couldn’t do anything but try and reason with her, and even then, he attempted to use the book of vashanti, but she put a stop to that. I’m sure if he could have killed her, he would have, I mean, even wong was willing to sacrifice Chavez. Also how did she not acknowledge her wrongdoings? what more could she do other than letting them go and leaving them alone? The hex was only up for six days, it’s not like she deliberately hurt them, the reason they were mind controlled in the first place was because she subconsciously created a happy life for what she thought was for herself and the people around her, she never meant harm, sure she kept the hex up for like a day while knowing she was in control of it, but she didn’t know she was controlling every aspect of their lives, and that is why when Agatha let her know what she was really doing, she let them go without hesitation, the people of westview didn’t even want anything from her after being freed, they saw from Wanda’s perspective throughout living in the hex, they knew what she felt, but they were rightfully angry and scared of her, the show made it clear that they simply didn’t want anything to do with her after being freed, which is why after she fixed her mistakes, she just left, left to learn how to control her seemingly uncontrollable powers, and to find her peace of mind, because her pain and grief was quite literally what caused the bad things she done in the first place, although we see that even that takes a turn for the worse and the darkhold gets its hold on her.

In "Wandavision", she made a mistake. In "Multiverse of Madness", she chose that mistake. So, she was a general good person or at least tried to be one, but she failed at her moral dilemma and became a menace to everyone else. You don't need to be special to be evil, evil comes out of ordinary people.

If we are going to explore themes on the lines of grief and vulnerability with Wanda which makes sense since her motivations in AOU were grief/vengeance driven, her loos of her brother by then end, the grappling of her failure in Civil war, finding happiness with vision, being forced to kill him with her own hands only for it to mean absolutely nothing and then fail to save him and watch as he is murdered brutally. yes that would break me too. i think in WandaVision, Hex-Vision should have been the good part in Wanda, everything she loved about him and the very way he made her feel aswell as the good he brought out in her sucked out of her and manifest as Vision, her kids being the future she wanted so desperately and Westview being the life she dreamed of. all created by accident. we see the cracks in the show. use her like a host in Westworld and then have the reveal that she caused i be a reveal not just for us, but for her aswell. however we see that Wanda's mind is fragmented. the empty shell that is filled with the instinct to protect her new reality is all that remains in Wanda. we see how she changes around Vision because he literally makes her whole when he's around. Vision begins to figure out how to destroy the Hex, showing that deep down Wanda doesn't wat this no matter how much she wishes it was real and knows she is hurting people. The show ends basically the same however her scene with Monica is a little different. Wanda traps Agatha in Westview, not having the stomach to hurt anyone else. she tries to hold onto her boys, desperately trying to keep them in reality, but they just tell them they are scared, and they want her to hold them. she tells them she will always love them. they fade away in her arms. she stands up nearly broken. she sees the Darkhold on the ground. rage glows in her eyes and she raises her hands to destroy the book, but as if by purpose wind blows and the pages flick until it lands on a picture of the scarlet Witch on one page... and two smaller figures on the next page. Wanda "You've given up everything for these people Wanda..." she says. "i took everything from them... I gave it up but... that does not change what i did". Wanda replies "you should go... the FBI will be here and you're their most Wanted... you hurt people Wanda but you made things right. i think you're worth a second chance" Monica pleads. Wanda is conflicted, feeling like she should be punished but she looks Monica in the eyes and nods. "i dont understand this power... but i will". she says before flying off. end credit scene with Wanda is the same but we get a close up and see a demonic, razor teeth filled maw whispering black magic into her ears. hinting that nothing good is going to follow. MOM can go similarly but the scene where 616 Wanda dream walks into 838 Wanda near the start will be changed and reversed so that 8383 Wanda sees 616 Wanda and notices the Demon Cthon almost latched onto her. NOW multiverse of madness is about someone who is vulnerable, but good hearted being taken advantage of and manipulated by an abusive power hungry force. Wanda doesn't, at first kill the illuminati. she, makes Mr Fantastic go limp, unable to make himself normal so he cant stop her, takes away Black bolts voice, makes Peggy, frail like Steve was before the serum, and sends Captain marvel out to destroy a ship that is an illusion. she also traps Xavier in a mental prison he has to find a way out of but when Cthon takes over he does kill them all, shredding Mr Fantastic, decapitating Peggy, Draining Captain Marvel (since crushing her was so dumb like we see her survive the centre of planets but a statue is too much c'mon) her tears Xavier's head off in the mental prison and lastly uses black bolts own words to kill him. now Wanda is ore redeemable as she made and effort to no harm people directly, she is still going along with a plot she believes will give her, her kids back. Stevens journey can remain unchanged and he fights a Cthon influenced Wanda at the end with Americas help. She does what she does in the film but Cthon tries to destroy the kids as they are in the way. to which Wanda rebels and tears him out of her body. she then beings to rip him to pieces for trying to hurt her kids, for making her do unspeakable thing s ad using her like a tool. she then collapses to the ground and 838 Wanda comforts her telling her that they'll be well taken care of. Wanda(616) then destroys Mount Wondigor, supposedly banishing Cthon, permanently from that universe while also supposedly dying herself in the process. BANG thats all she wrote. film ends exactly the same Wanda is not a psychopath but an actual victim like marvel wants us to believe she is.

What could be a better ending for WandaVision? After defeating Agatha, she set her eyes on the Darkhold and looted it because so much curiousity to that artifact. Then after her closure to her "family", she surrender to S.W.O.R.D. because she recognized her wrong doing and Monika ask to the higher ups "don't make her suffer, just confine her" kinda line. Then, during the post credit scene, we get a similar take from the original of her cabin in the woods scene while reading the Darkhold in astral form but in a prison setting. Although it is not a complete thought, but I hope you guys get my point.

It's funny, only watching this video did I realize the black bolt guy actually killed himself. You can see him screaming and apparently doing that with his mouth closed liquidated his shit. What utter garbage 🤣

I'm a die hard Wolverine fan. No amount of irrational justification will ever make me consider Scarlet Witch nothing but a stain on the history of the Marvel Universe. She single handedly caused the Old Man Logan storyline with 3 words, she deserves the pain she felt. No amount of imaginary pain she's felt even equates a single year of Wolverines life, and she caused a lot of it.

People who defend Wanda have some real issues.

What's scares me is the possibility that she's written like this because the writers themselves are narcissists who cannot see the logic flaws on her behaviors and think their feelings justify their actions.

M.o.m would have been a perfect film for her to redeem herself for what she did at Westview. I really thought that they were going for that when Strange went to ask her for help. Enslaving and toturing a town of people was bad enough, its even more worse when she goes on a killing spree in another universe, because I just don't see how they can redeem her from that..

WandaVision made sense. She was unconsciously the villain and she freed everyone at the expense of her own happiness and family. I genuinely hated MoM because they completed negated her earlier sacrifice, made her irredeemable, and then they're trying to make her sympathetic???? Like nah.

In my opinion she wasn't really ever a hero

I seriously can’t understand why so many are trying to make her a “hero” or “empathetic”. Let’s look at Magneto, he survived the holocaust and due to that trauma caused him to hate people and sees mutants as the next step in evolution. He also wants to prevent another holocaust for mutants, but his methods are always viewed as villainous not heroic. Storm was buried alive with her dead parents after a plane crashed in their hotel, Batman’s parents were murdered in front of him when he was a kid, Spider man failed to save his uncle and Gwen Stacey. I can go on about the many heroes who have been through much worse things than she has. But that’s social media now, being a violent sociopath are ok so long as it’s the right person.

6:10 I found out that the comics version of Black Bolt can’t harm (or even kill) himself with his own powers. So this scene proves the writers know nothing about Black Bolt or how his powers work.

That’s why he did the retcon in Doctor Strange 2 to title their main universe as “Earth-616”. When that only supposed to be the comics’ title of their Prime Earth. All the other universes had different Earth titles.

i think a big issue when it comes to wanda's story in wandavision is a pretty big lack of film literacy or narrative comprehension on the part of the audience. often times an audience member assumes that a protagonist couldn't possibly be the villain by virtue of their watching their journey. And even when they do understand, people find villain relatable, like, all the time. i personally enjoyed seeing the story of what could have been a fantastic and well rounded villain for the films (sadly squandered in MoM). i disagree with the take that wanda jumped the shark in her own show. her downward spiral within the show is all pretty narratively sound. even despite the intrusive fan service and big dumb marvel ending in its final episode (director hayward should have been lauded not arrested. for all the town knew he saved them from a crazy witch. ) The stinger at the last moments of the show was chilling and felt properly dangerous. and they wasted it all in MoM by misunderstanding her journey in her own show completely.

Hayward was arrested for trying to weaponize and control Vision, I think. Though it's a bit unclear what evidence they have for that, given that Vision just flew away and we haven't heard about him since. So he couldn't have testified against the guy and explained that S.W.O.R.D had tried to suppress his memories for whatever reason and send him to kill his former lover against his will.

Can I just say, your voice is simply a delight to listen to.

Multiverse of madness was just a continuation movie for wandavision

The writer(s) of WV & (especially) MoM are to blame in my opinion. Apparently MCU Kevin Feige didn't get them on the same page as far as what to do with Scarlet Witch.

Thank you for this. Honestly, I have despised her since Age of Ultron. When she isn't thrown at an Ultron or a Thanos all she does is abuse her powers and wallow in self-pity. Then, they act like every hangnail or dirty look she gets for being a violent, selfish asshole is so tragic and undeserved. I'm going to enjoy her brief hiatus in this franchise for as long as I can.

I saw the show and the movie...I don't think anyone was painting wanda as an anti-hero or a tragic figure. she obviously was the villain from the start. Not someone who anyone would look up to or sympathize with

The problem with this writing that mental health is a "justification" for villainous deeds is that they misunderstood where the value of a character and story lies. The angst generated is not where the value lies, yet they have a simplistic thought that angst equals depth of character. If it were that simple, why do I get the feeling these writers wouldn't dare to say to someone with mental health issues in real life that their illness builds character? How the character *rises* above their mental woes determines the value of their story.

What's the problem here? I like Wanda and acknowledge and do not defend all her ruthless and evil actions. It's like liking Homelander from The Boys. Yes, Elizabeth Olson's as hot as the Sun, but even without the simping, are we not allowed to be a fan of evil characters? Is she a narcissistic psychopath? Yes. Do I care? No. Also, while I see how Marvel hilariously tries to justify Wanda's actions in Wanda Vision, I don't see her being justified at all in Multiverse of Madness. She seemed to have been portrayed as just the villain. So again, I don't see the problem.

they are referring to marvel writers justifying her actions or just minimizing them with no consequences. And there seem to be far more Wanda stans that do in fact defend her actions. They are not saying you can't enjoy or sympathize with a villain; it's just messed up when people defend these evil actions. just look at the comment directly above yours from some psycho stan. obviously not all fans of Wanda are like this but there is an alarming number of crazies that justify her actions.
