24:03 that's what i thought when i did see this dumb moment! because, yeah, Aladdin would have seen Jafar at any other point and time and go "you tried to murder me! your evil and i'm tell everyone". all i can think is Freakazoid going "Dumb Dumb Dumb" when i see it.

well, having Iago being a giant bird is a referential nod to the roc, a giant bird of prey in middle eastern mythology. Hell, even disney has the roc in the aladdin tv show.

Not particularly defending the movie but theres a reason why Sherabad is mentioned so many times. It's not just where Jasmine's mother was from, it's where Jafar was from as well. And he grew up there just like Aladdin before being locked up for years. And now that he has a position of power, he was HARD PAYBACK

Thinking back to Prince of Persia movie Kingsley would have been a great cast but IMO it would have been best letting Numan Acar who played Hakim, the captain of the guards play Jafar. If you already gonna cast that guy...He even has the perfect facial features for it. Or ask Oded Fehr to do it. He already proved an awesome Jafar in Once upon A Time series!

@thatmexicanuzer The choice was clearly made to put a younger man in the role. Had that not been an issue, Patrick Stewart has said he always regretted turning down the role of Jafar in the original and actually made a push to play him here from what I heard too. Had his race-as well as age-not been an issue, they probably would've picked him in a heartbeat.

6:57 A Live action treasure planet sounds SOO FREAKING COOL, but sadly disney only remakes movies that made a lot of money, cause these remakes aren't made to improve the story they are made to cash in on fans of the originals, and treasure planet is one of the most underappreciated disney movies, so they won't remake anything that wasn't an immediate hit

i just have no real need to watch most of the live-action movies. sure, i had no real complaints for the Beauty and the Beast film even if it does have problems, but over time they just got worse and worse. this, Dumbo, Lion King and now Mulan are just on that peak i just don't want to reach. i just can't watch a movie i love be taken apart and made into a cash grab turd. yeah i haven't actually sat down to watch Aladdin, it just doesn't look like my cup of tea. it's just missing that flare and life the animated one had. i honestly saw the Prince Ali scene and thought "wow... you can do the bare minimum and still fail" cause the "dancing", singing and everything was just bad and God knows what they did to Mulan makes me never want to watch a reboot again! I'll stick with the classics, thank you.

NC: "The film assumes you've seen the original, so it doesn't have to worry about trying as hard." "Everything is magnified in animation, which means focusing on the right thing will make it all the more memorable. The remake is taking advantage of the original's focus so they don't have to try as hard." Disney Remakes in a Nutshell. What they did with 2019's Aladdin, 2017's Beauty and the Beast, 2029's The Lion King, and 2020's Mulan, they do to the possible remake of Bambi's 1942 movie, then . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . *FUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!* I will have NO MORE FAITH IN DISNEY REMAKES, WHATSO-F*CKING-EVER! This was the only Disney remake that I watched in theaters. I’m still wanting my money back. This movie was AWFUL. When Disney started talking about live action remakes, I put together 5 movies that would be better as Live Action than as animation and had a genuine chance to be improved: 5. The Black Cauldron 4. Mulan (Disney f***ed the live action remake up badly) 3. Treasure Planet 2. The Rescuers Down Under 1. Atlantis: The Lost Empire

I like the IDEA of live action remakes of animated classics, but not the implementation Disney is using. There needs to be a REASON to make us want to see it, because if it's just the classic version again, but in real life, then why would I want to see that over the original? Maleficent and Cruella weren't great movies, but at least they weren't just telling the same story in the same way like Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, and The Lion King did. There was at least SOME originality involved, which is why I agree with Doug about the Bollywood and Hollywood idea they could've and should've done with Aladin. It just didn't feel like it was worth seeing.

Doug can be so obtuse sometimes. Aladdin is depressed, what with being poor and all. The guard insulting him didn't bother him because he knows how the city feels about him. He's known for years. He's accepted it. Cartoon Aladdin acts like that's the first time he's ever been insulted. I've had problems with depression before, after a while you're just kinda numb to everything. Also, Aladdin being an ass to the Genie is him being way more confident in himself, and you can see he's playing it way more charasmatically (and there's a fine line between confidence and arrogance, with Aladdin ending up more on the later end), but Doug just can't see it because he's not paying attention, he's just looking for stuff to bitch about. Jafar, on the other hand, is a sociopath. He's playing it like that picture of Mark Zuckerberg in court, with the completely blank expression, where you can tell there's just nothing going on in there. Also, has made a clear effort to avoid having any "coded gay" villains in the live action remakes, so he was never going to act kine the original version.

So far I can only think of 4 Disney live action remakes that are good. i saw this film in theaters and i didn't hate it. granted, it's not perfect but i've seen worse. no regrets. but will it take away my love of the animated aladdin movie from childhood? no.

A classic reaction to a shitty live action Disney movie just like all the others. Out of all of the them, i think it’s fair to say that Jungle Book is the best one with Cinderella at a close second in my honest opinion. The only reason Disney has fuck you money is because of the the MCU movies.

Oded Fehr would have been a way better Jafar... And I know this because Disney got him to play Jafar in Once Upon a Time! Hell, I know he's Indian and not Arabic, but Shah Rukh Khan would have been a better Jafar!

I wish you could react to Sideways. His video on Why Cats (2019) sucked more than you think, and why the music in the Disney remakes suck so bad is just a comedy goldmine, but his videos are over an hour long so I doubt you’d have the time. But I can wish.

Actually I like Jafar in the remake, hear me out. In animation they make who's good and who's bad very overt and obvious, to the point that it makes the characters look stupid for trusting the bad guy. In live action you can have unassuming actors as bad guys to make it less obvious, if written well that is.

I personally never cared that much about the remakes not even the Jungle Book one that was one of their better entries. The only I cared to want to succeed was the Mulan remake because it could've benefited from having more accurate telling of chinese folktales. And BOY! did they take a hard left.

Hayden Christensen's acting was fine, it was the dialogue given to him that dumbed down the performance. Especially in ROTS, when he's not saying cringy-ass dialogue, he looks intimidating and he gives off good acting vibes. Bad acting and bad dialogue are 2 different things. His acting was good; the dialogue, not so much. George Lucas had way too much control over those movies with nobody having the balls to make suggestions to how he should make the Prequels.

Exactly, It really bothers me that most Star Wars fans didn't see it nor feel it that way. It wasn't the acting,it was the dialogue that was poorly written and it really saddens me because almost nobody didn't wanted to be involved to give Lucas suggestions for his script in the Prequels the same way they did with The Original Trilogy. The Prequels would of been so much more better and improved if more people were involved and help support Lucas so he doesn't take too much control in those movies. The Prequel Trilogy truly deserved better.

There's a few director's cuts that are pretty different from their theatrical versions, but that's from adding preexisting footage back in. If a movie failed, the studio would have no reason to throw more money at it.

I’m not gonna lie I’m actually like The Live Action Aladdin film (don’t get me wrong Will Smith’s Genie is not better than Robin William’s Genie at all but it’s Will Smith best take of The Genie so there’s that, and The Giant Parrot even though a Giant King Cobra would be awesome look a bit terrifying plush not saying a Giant Snake is boring or anything but how many Live Action Movie that have a Giant Snake, I mean even The Jungle Book done that with Caa The Snake)

I mean if you want someone that can do there take of The Genie but still awesome as Robin William’s Genie then go watch Aladdin The Musical that was awesome (especially The Guy who played as The Genie who is funny and even do a lot of Easter eggs like MC Hammer “you can’t touch this” and sometime else that I can’t remember) and Aladdin and Jasmine’s “All New World” was amazing (and a risky thing to do because The Flying Carpet was on wires so that would go terrible there but luckily nothing bad happened)
