Star Trek TOS won its third season after a petition - but it was a physical letter writing campaign, not an online petition and I suspect that piles of mail garner more attention than online petitions.

You spoke about La'an transporter scene. There was a kiss of her with Kirk, from this episode, in the same trailer, I think. It was too quick.

Back when they thought of Khan 1992 was still decently far in the future. But now they'd still want to refer to real life events happening today, without having to explain how the 90s Eugenics War works with that. They can always argue with the records being not reliable after WW3. A lot of records got destroyed/lost in WW1 and 2, so that's not too far fetched.

I thought too that petitions do not work, until yesterday. Try to Google about this week news for the Warrior Nun, one if the best shows ever.

According to Akiva Goldsmith, yes, the timeline is changed just the way Sera said it was - time "pushed back". Going forward, everything's based on Khan being a Canadian kid who was maybe 6 or 7 in 2022. And on behalf of all Canadians, I say "sorry, we apologize for Khan and the whole Eugenics Wars thing" lol Oh, and I can confirm: poutine does have gravy.

I don't know how much of the rest of Trek you've seen, but this episode is linked a lot to Voyager, Enterprise and Discovery. The Temporal Wars is from Star Trek Enterprise and mentioned a lot in Season 3 of Discovery. Also, the time agents' devices had TCARS computer displays from the 29th Century Starfleet time-travelling crew seen in the Voyager episodes "Future's End" and "Relativity". Also, the whole thing with the events surrounding Khan, the Eugenics Wars and WW3 got explained once (possibly in Picard Season 2) as being because their historical records from that period are rather sketchy. Obviously, the real-world explanation is because, unlike in "Space Seed" (when 1992 was still a long way off) we've actually moved past that period in time.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen some legacy Trek shows (I’ve seen everything except TAS), so I get fuzzy on a lot of details. So thanks for sharing! I didn’t realize there had been so much confusion about the Eugenics Wars & WW3 before this episode, so it’s nice to learn about it.

Not sure why they were worried about changing clothes... they could just take off their bagged and fit in. Colorful V neck shirts and black pants seem pretty timeless.

Three issues once again. Well, looks like that there never was a constant date for the Eugenic Wars. Because the Temporal Wars moved them forward and back all the time. For example, there were no Khan ruling 40 countries and destroys the Earth in 1996 in Voyager's Future's End. Bashir said these wars happened in 22th century. I think this episode came to fix all this mess, that appears to happen just because for the TOS year 1992 was too far in the future, nobody believed then that the Star Trek will air so long, but it did, and they disturb the shows because they need to send characters back to the normal past, "our" past, not to the destroyed one.

Paramount upset me real bad with The cancellation of Prodigy which took me about half a season to really get into and Grease: Rise of The Pink Ladies that show impressed me so much from episode one. The fact that they removed both series so fast from their platform was strange as well.

I used to watch Once Upon a Time, but I’m pretty sure I stopped before the show finished. The last thing I remember from the show was when Regina finally decided to be “good” but there was some magic that spawned an evil version of her. And maybe I’m misremembering haha. But I don’t think I saw any episodes with Adelaide Kane.

From the way the time agent said that the "Time Federation" wasn't yet founded I have the slight suspicion La'an is somewhat envolved in it's foundation, and that is the reason why she does not appear in the OG Show... Unlike everyone thought, this show takes place in a diferent timeline than the OG show, and that is confirmed by the change in the Eugenics war Start Year

  • @hollywoodguy70

@@hollywoodguy70 That, in itself doesn't proove it's the same timeline, If I went back in time to save Abraham Lincoln, after that history could run parallel with ours and that did not mean it was the same timeline, because it wasn't, the same here, from the moment the Eugenics Wars started 30 years later it became an alternate timeline where everything after runs and happens parallel with the OG one, and the proove of that is La'an, where was she in the OG universe??? La'an is the Gigantic proof Strange New Worlds is not in the same timeline as the OG Show

Star Trek never took place in our timeline from the beginning. Many things over the years rhymed with our past events, but it's always been an offshoot. That being said, 1966-2005 was the prime timeline & the writers kept it together. This episode cemented the fact that STD & SNW are in their own timeline.

I hate to say this, but where are the strange new worlds we are expecting to seek out and search? We are now on to episode 4, and, thus far, we have not really explored anything new, and I'm not sure why the writers or creators are dipping into the past episodes so much when they are supposed to be future events. What's worse is that they are using old TOS ideas to mess up canon, timelines and character personalities. They treat Spock almost like a child and mock him behind his back. Pike has had maybe 10 lines of dialogue in three episodes thus far? Kirk does not act like Kirk. How someone can not figure out a revolving door but can drive a muscle car like a pro all within a few hours is just poor writing and poor decision making. Don't get me wrong. I'm not one of those people who bash, but all of this just makes less and less sense as we go on. Soon we will have another time travel episode of some sort with the Lower Decks tie-in, and that will be another episode where exploring the galaxy is taken away from us. Explore the characters, but please stop with the confusing time jumps and rewriting of Trek lore. I like the lore and I like it when the crew of the Enterprise goes boldly. Make it so.
