r/Maliciouscompliance How A Stupid Karen Ruined A Kid's Birthday Party
Комедия
r/Maliciouscompliance A particularly picky and stupid Karen hires OP to bake a cake for a young girl's birthday party. The Karen gives OP overly specific and detailed instructions that are just plain wrong. OP tries to warn Karen that the cake won't turn out the right way, but the Karen just refuses to listen. So what does the Karen do when OP delivers bad cake that perfectly fits Karen's request? She spends the kid's entire birthday party whining about it, because that's what every kid wants to hear on their birthday!

I ran a PC repair business pre-Covid (since moved on to IT support for small businesses). The amount of Karens that I had to deal with...one, especially, dropped the "Never coming back" bomb and it was the happiest day of my life. (Her brat was trying to become a streamer on ass internet. Told them day one that it wasn't me or the machine. 10 visits later, and I charged them every time. Had to go to small claims for non-payment and bounced/cancelled cheques)
Good thing there's no Karens around to ruin my birthdays in the woods

as someone who is an amateur cake baker, I'd like to say how incredibly impressed I am with the lady in the first story. Getting everything perfect so that after baking, the cake is down to the exact gram weight is almost impossible. The weight changes slightly during baking. Not really enough to matter, but it would register on a scale.
@galacticbob1

I agree, but it sounds like she corrected any variation by using the icing and decorations. The *final* weight after decoration was exact down to the gram, but she did say that she was "scraping off ganache." I imagine that she did the last few grams of icing with the cake on the scale. ☺️

One thing which the company didn't realize since they kept obfuscating, is if they get extremely low performance ratings, the next time they apply for a contract means a different company is most likely to get the contract. Poor performance always goes into the files and is used as one of the criterion for selecting a company to perform the work.

When I was 16 the store manager of a Burger king forced me to stand inside a dumpster and scrub it clean with harsh dangerous chemicals with no protective gear .. it was summer... It was 112 degrees out and I did this in a metal dumpster... No shade... For over 90 mins covered in who knows what and chemicals that caused burning and redness to my skin. That's only one of literally dozens messed up things I experienced there.
💀😆💀 the Pub story…never ending helicopter seeds falling. Thats hilarious I lol’d for real.
Wow... He realizes that? So he is not that bad. My manager was really angry with me that I did exactly what was told and I was fired for being such a "smart ass" (or something like that xP ). Even though I was already doing the job that I was not hired for. I work in small hotel with golf field as receptionist: I booked rooms and all and also booked golf time slots (or how it is called, dunno) - that was my job, that was in my contract. But my manager was not happy that sometimes I sat doing "nothing" for an hour, so he started giving me additional tasks - the one's that I was not paid for even though I had to stay longer than my shift to end them properly. I had to sweep and mop the floors, do laundry, do dishes, help in the kitchen, make drinks for guests... And I did what I was told, exactly as I was told. I had to do the dishes before I go back to reception desk? Fine, the guests who want to rent the room had to wait - I can't leave the kitchen until I am done with my job. They actually were understaffed but were to cheap to hire more people - even though they could. The job offer still stands, after 6 years - they still didn't find their perfect Cinderella.
Yay, it’s my birthday and rslash has Karen cake stories.

I feel that frustration with the whole "staying busy" story. That's literally my job rn, I work custodial in a school administration building splitting between their building and the IT Support building around the corner (I walk back and forth to clean both areas). Used to be I'd split my 8 hour shifts to four hours in each building, but then I was told I had to spend minimum of five fours in Admin. But both buildings are small and I can actually complete all the work in two hours for either before having to take lunch or go around for trash check. Just last Monday I received a write-up warning because someone in Admin had told my offsite supervisor I was sitting in my closet in the dark too much, I only shut the light off in there when I leave to take lunch. I take my permitted 15 minute breaks in the closet to avoid the underlying pressure of needing to stay busy when I'm supposed to be resting. What's more, I'm at this location for light duty with a shoulder injury! But they dont approve of me taking three seconds to rest it after polishing the frames of all the pictures in the hallways for the fourth time
Karens love to spoil and ruin every special holiday that’s not specifically about them. Be it birthdays, anniversaries, and even Xmas (causes it’s a day about Jesus) not them. Toxic AF

When the oceans dry up, the mountains are gone, and the sun is dead, Gary will be still sweeping
I love when Karen's say they'll never buy from you again (like in the first story) do they not realise that's exactly how we'd prefer it.
When I listen closely to the wind blowing, all I hear is "Gaaaary"
Legend has it that Gary is still sweeping
I always find it strange how legalese is SO detailed that you can get away with, technically, violating the spirit of a rule or contract, but not the letter, and therefore, not sueable over it.
As a kid, I worked at a fast food place that had one of those "I have to see everyone working furiously every second!" managers. When every task on the duty sheet had been completed (sometimes twice), she would assign workers to go out and water the parking lot. Yes, you read that correctly. She would have employees drag a big garden hose out to the parking lot and just water down the pavement. It was summer, so the water would evaporate almost immediately, leaving the lot looking no different. So we'd have to do it again. I did not stay there long.
When will Karen's and Chad's learn that "I'll never come back" is the one thing retail people love to hear when they deal with asshole customers?
I'm sick of sweeping this alley now...it's costing me too much in brooms!
I come from an area where maple trees are ubiquitous. I miss them, actually, because of the beauty of their leaves in the fall as they turn, the ease of climbing them(in my distant youth), and the smell! But anyone who is familiar with maples HATES the falling leaves, the helicopter seed pods(which float down in delightful patterns) are EVERYWHERE! It's almost as if the trees spawn them as they are dropping them!
Happy international eat some cake and have a beer day
just saying the saying "If you have time to lean, you have time to clean." is a very common saying in the foodservice industry, all restaurants that I have worked in had that saying,
I must be a time traveler. I’ve heard you read the waitress story with the back alley and the never ending helicopter seeds.
Back in my home town the theater owner use to pay his employee's to help do various things in the community with, just to help give them a better wage coming from a small town.
Oh the cake one, I feel so sorry for the girl when I heard Rslash talking about her having to listen to the Karen complain. On my "sweet sixteenth" I decided to have a party. Said party contained old people sitting around my nans living room complaining about work like any other ordinary day. I was pretty upset lolol everyone in my family gets these parties with friends, or get to go out. And I got that.
"if you have time to lean you have time to clean" story is my boss 100%. literally stops doing important orders and payroll and whatever else only he can do, to watch us on the cameras and yell at us for stuff. I literally pulled my phone out to look at the time once, before I even had time to look at the screen I heard him yell from the back "stop playing with your phone!" like dude. pay us on time. get your orders done. stop micromanaging.
Lol when you said that 16 years is a milestone for young girls, I thought to myself why is aging a milestone also just imagine that aunt saying that the cake was not 1lb and that the cake maker scammed her and all that while the others ignored her and were singing happy Birthday and eating the cake.
Malicious compliance has to be the best subreddit when it comes to passive aggressive revenge.
Fun story about cake- My dad got me a cake for my sweet 16, and the lady who made it had accidentally made it to big and instead of charging my dad more, she gave it to him for the price of a smaller cake.
