r/Maliciouscompliance She Told Me To Sue Her... So I Did!

Комедия

r/Maliciouscompliance In today's episode, OP is helping his friend resolve a bogus ambulance bill that is most definitely illegal. He calls up the ambulance company to try to resolve things peacefully, but the representative on the phone is less than helpful. She yells, "So sue me!" The thing is, OP is a lawyer, so he's more than happy to maliciously comply with that request! After he files the lawsuit, the company's lawyer calls back and practically begs to settle out of court.

Don't know how it works in other countries, but in the UK, if the person we contacted is clearly the wrong person, we automatically remove the number. If its the customer and they don't want us to contact them, we remove the number but we advise we will still send out letters. As for how debt collection companies get these numbers, it is from credit file referencing agencies and through dedicated tracing team. But companies getting wrong numbers happens a lot. It happens, part of the parcel with tracing.

Yeah, debt collections after deaths are pretty evil. I kinda understand some companies desperate for money owed, but if no survivors are legally liable it's kinda cruel to threaten and scare grieving people into paying. My father died intestate (no will) and I can't remember what it's called, but he basically didn't leave an estate, only debts. Sadly some of them were joint with my mom, but one of his credit cards was only in his name. And they wanted my mom to pay, but yeah, no, sorry. I think she had to send them a letter once, twice max, saying he died without assets and they stopped. So pretty lucky it didn't become Reddit drama worthy. And further lucky, he did a sort of death benefit thing when he worked for the government and it paid out enough money to cover his funeral expenses.

Wow, I work in First Party collections and I can attest that what this lady did at the ambulance company was the exact opposite of what collections are support to do, First Party or not. While many of the protections afforded to customers in the collections process only apply to 3rd party collections, 1st party collections should always strive to follow the more stringent guidelines as several of them do still apply, including that if a Lawyer calls and says they are representing the customer you MUST cease all further contact with the customer and only speak with the attorney. Mind blowing.

The mortgage company story sounds like the same company my wife and I dealt with after our mortgage was sold for the third time. Had NO issues with the original or first two companies that bought out our mortgage, but as soon as CENLAR bought us out we had nothing but problems with them, mainly due to the whole "Partial Payment" excuse except we had one payment that was literally $100 short one month and as a result they did not apply (but held onto our money) the next full year of mortgage payments, which is when they started sending us foreclosure threats and started sending employees to peek in our window to try and determine if anyone was home in an attempt to change our locks on us before they had even filed for foreclosure. Finally had to hire a real estate lawyer and sell the house because CENLAR would not work with us at all on getting the mortgage back on track (the only thing they would agree to was a deal that had us paying the interest each month but nothing was being applied to paying off the loan itself) and on the day of the closing we get informed we were being hit with $75,000 in fines and fees we were never informed of prior. We almost had to PAY to sell out house! AVOID CENLAR LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

The last story reminded me of something that happened in 2003. A friend and I built a very beautiful patio on a custom home spent two weekends building this thing only to get stiffed on our payment. Well we find out he's throwing a giant party the weekend after we finished so we waited called him all week still nothing. So the day of his party we parked around the corner warmed up a couple of chainsaws pulled up in front of his house kick the gate in found him before we brought the chainsaws in by the way demanded our payment he still refused. He was surrounded by a lot of very wealthy friends they are all looking like what the hell's going on. I told this guy you pay us or we're taking the patio down. He didn't believe me till my friend walked in with a chainsaw fired it up and started walking at the center post. You know it didn't take him long to show up and hand me $8,500 cash in front of all of his friends who just realized what kind of a deadbeat this guy really is.

When the concert launched he kept dodging my husbands boss. Then when they found him he said he wasnt paying in full. Without a word he went to his computer behind the stage and projected a 30 minute timer on the LED screen behind the DJ. When the organizer saw he flipped and demanded he remove it. the boss said "I'll remove it when I'm paid in full and if I'm not when that hits zero I am literally, not figuratively, pulling the plug". Dude paid him in full with 10 minutes to spare. Pay what you owe

Oh, those poor corpsmen. I know exactly that type of person that RN represents and have had to deal with SO many just like her. Every single time they fall victim to not being able to take what they're dishing out. One of my coworkers, Nessa, had a new supervisor that had to show off his machoism and how tough and smart he was. He found out the hard way that you should never mess with someone with twice the years of real-world experience in something than you do. She shredded his ego in front of all the brass.

We bought a home in 2001. In 2003 they tried to increase our escrow account by $400. That is where you pay extra each month to cover the costs of insurance and property taxes. I knew that neither one of those had increased, so there was no reason to up the monthly amount. I called Wells Fargo to talk to them about it. They that we had late payments, only we had just bought a new car and no late payments showed on our credit report. So I said, "I feel as if you are trying to force us into foreclosure." I had remembered that they had gotten in trouble for just that several years prior. Those were golden words. Not only did my escrow account amount stay the same, but they also restructured our loan with better interest rates. We didn't have to make a payment for 3 months too. Bonus.

it’s bullshit of the highest caliber. it’s a contract that he signed, he’s claiming that they tried to illegally alter his contract under penalty of foreclosure without any appeal and then reveals that he could just transfer it to another bank easily? then why didn’t he do that in the first place? and the whole threatening to foreclose quickly is total garbage, it take multiple months of no payments to go before a judge to foreclose. the whole refusing half payments is laughable as the money would be declined or held in escrow, they purposely held his moneys illegally and then threatened him? they wouldn’t do that, the money is automated so would automatically be deducted from his debt

I have a similar story with the bank that had my car loan with. When I purchased it, I opted to buy the accidental disability insurance. Well, three years later, I was involved in an accident in a company vehicle that left me 100 % disabled. So the insurance contacted the bank, informed them they would be assuming the rest of the loan until paid off. All I had to do was to send a monthly copy from my doctors to the bank so they’d get the insurance payment. Well, on 3 different occasions, some flunky at the bank misfiled/lost the note. However, instead of contacting me, they repossessed my car. The last time they damaged it, so I sued! The bank gave the excuse that it’s my problem for their incompetence, and since they own the loan, I can’t sue them unless the loan is paid in full! They lost, they had to repair my car, then had to refund me every payment they received from the insurance company, over half the value of my $30,000 car. I drove that car until 2021 when the motor and transmission died. I miss that car, not the bank though. That’s why I pay cash when I get a new car.

My husband was a medic in the USAF. Apparently it is very common for new doctors, fresh from medical school and officers' training, to show up arrogantly thinking they know better than every medic who has been getting their scrubs dirty for years. (I think it has something to do with getting their captain's bars.) They had one senior surgeon who would take the newly minted doctors around the base hospital and would ask what should have been basic knowledge questions. Inevitably the correct answer had gotten buried in their brains under all their advanced training. (These young doctors weren't dumb or poorly trained, just arrogant.) The surgeon would just give them a withering stare when they provided the wrong answer, look over to the closest medic and call him or her over. When said medic (all of them was in on the routine) attended and came to attention, they would get asked the same question. "Sir! *insert correct and succinct answer here*. Sir!" The surgeon would just nod, dismiss the airman with his thanks and then look at the new doctors and say, "our medics are smart and know what they are doing. Our nurses are even better than our medics. If they question what you are doing, you are probably screwing something up. Ask them for help." (Please note, there were plenty of morons who were medics too, the surgeon just avoided asking them any questions at all.)
