I think of three things with this subject: 1. Be Different.Come up with a character thats never been seen before. 2.Take things from your favorite tv shows, movies, video games, music etc. and incorporate them into your act. Chris Jericho said in his DVD that his 2008 heel character was inspired by the main character in "No Country for Old Men". 3.Give your character a story to tell. Give him some depth/a background so you can have something to work with far as promos.

This was another awesome episode PJ. At my wrestling school we have started our character development stage and alot of the stuff you have said in this I have already been thinking about incorporating with my character and this has also helped me with some of the doubts Ive been having about my character.

You know how in ECW, wrestlers were allowed to have music by famous recording artists and bands as their entrance themes? Well, do you think it would have been good if Bret Hart had joined ECW, and started using TOO MANY BROKEN HEARTS by JASON DONOVAN as his entrance music? ;*D I know, I'm a booking genius!!!! ;*D

Interesting that you talked about music, I was just thinking about entrance music a few hours ago. While I used to expereiment with different songs, I like to pick a song that goes along with the character; once wrestled as Rick Solid which was originally a striper-esqu idea and finally settled into an instrumental version of "How Many Licks" and loved it, thought it went well with the persona. I've seen a lot of wrestlers use their favorite music, and it makes sense to amplify your self into your character, but should your favorite music be your entrance theme? I once saw a wrestler who was portraying himself as a hoomosexual type of character who came out to Rage Against the Machine and told him that I didn't think it made any sense, try to come up with something a little more feminine (not trying to offend any gay readers, btw) to go along with the persona. How important do you think it is to get your music to match your character? Even better, I prefer songs that are (or have had) mainstream play, I believe that it's easier for the audience to relate or understand your persona when you use a song that not only goes along with the character, but a song that is easily recognizable. I know that there are other wrestlers who would prefer to use a b-side type of song, of even a customized song from a local musician. Any thoughts about enterance music? Thanks for the videos, really appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences with us.

:( There is literally no more characters in wrestling anymore, not even in WWE, if someone DID have a character, his character would soon enough be ruined by shitty booking and stuff and then its right back to “i am firstname lastname and i am going to win a wrestling match” and does a bunch of kicks and boring shit

Pity that we don't see more of that “Justin Credible” element in ordinary people …out in full view. Why? It's because this character, as Polaco admits, could not "never be" this way "in real life." So more blame on "real life"--society as we know it--for all of that.

It's GREG "THE HAMMER" VALENTINES DAY, Justin! That means it's the one day of the year where if a woman rejects me when I hit on her, then I'm allowed to give her a Greg Valentine-style elbow to the head!!!!!!! But if she hits me back, I have to very slowly fall backward, down to the ground like a felled tree!!!! ;*(

So are you saying that in real life, THERE'S ONLY A VERY THIN LINE BETWEEN THE NICE, WHOLESOME PETER POLACO, AND THE ANGRY SIDE OF YOU WHO IS MORE THAN WILLING TO START CRIPPLING JAPANESE LEGENDS, AND STEALING THEIR MASKS? ;*( In that case, I don't think I'll be critiquing you anymore! Not that I wanted to do it anyway. You sound too nice for me to be able to live with myself if I did that. I know you kind of bashed Bret Hart and called him pompous once, but you know, WE ALL EXPERIENCE DIFFERENT SIDES OF PEOPLE. I've heard people like Lance Storm call Scott Steiner a pleasant person, so I guess you can never really go with reputations. For all we know, maybe Bret Hart was just leery of you because he knew you were with the Kliq, and Shawn Michaels!!!!! I'm not calling you out on critiquing Bret, I'm just maybe trying to clear the air between you because I'm in one of my SUPER NICE GUY MOODS right now! And sometimes it just feels really good and upbuilding to know you've made a positive change in the world. From what I gather from this wrestling lesson, I'm assuming it wouldn't make sense for a fat waster like me to be powerbombing and chokeslamming muscular wrestlers. It would make much more sense if I adopted the gimmick of a world champion pie-eater who as a consequence of manic depression from being bullied at high school, suffered from flashbacks and starting taking mind-bending drugs, which made me hallucinate, and start seeing my opponents as being living, breathing pies, MEANING I'D SUDDENLY HAVE A MUCH BETTER CHANCE OF BEATING THEM IN THE RING! ;*P Also, you know what I used to think would be a really good gimmick, Justin? If someone dressed up as a borg drone from Star Trek! I always thought the borg looked so scary that if my opponent was a borg drone, I think I'd be so scared of him that I wouldn't even want to tie up with him at the start of the match! ;*(
