    Advice for hard landing gear is to hook up and push red button in to air up trl bags,helps take some pressure off landing gear.take flash light with you under trl to check king pin to make sure it latches,tug test dont always work.

    Hey Chez~ Welcome back! You are so right about the DL making a huge difference in your income. My friend who works the same account as me, but at a different terminal, almost passed out when I told her how few miles my DL was giving me. She told me that she was getting a min of 3K a week on the same account. So, I took her advice~fired him~ and hired her boss! I’ll finally start making $ this week!

    @R J yes I believe all trucks have that “safety feature” lol I know it can get super annoying especially when you know you are not even that close to the car in front of you😂 I know exactly how you feel and seems like that’s just something we have to get use to.

  • @katr810

    @katr810

    @R J all newer trucks has a gazillion safety feature built in my recommendation is to mentally adjust your thinking in slowing down no need to ride anyone's rear end ergo the beeping, also pay particular attention to the distance displayed that is preprogrammed in the system for being able to stop without hitting something, remember the smith system

    It's your taxes that's killing ya man. Cali has one of the highest state taxes. Toss FICA and federal on top of that. And don't forget you moving up on their tax bracket for making over 50k, so they taking more. I'm in jersey myself so we got high taxes too. First thing I'm saving for when I start is getting the heck out of jersey 🤣 Texas, Tennessee, Florida, one of the states with no income tax, or low lol

    I made 94k last year. Between Illinois and fed tax they took about 30k That's why I moved to Washington Where there is no state income tax. There are several states that are much better then California. I can't phantom why anyone would live there

    Bro I’ve enjoyed your VLogs sooo much. I’ve been away from trucking for the past two years and will be finding myself going back in December. Sometimes with trailers if you back up on them a lil more it can help with dollying up. Also I may have missed it but if going up a hill lower than 45mph kick them 4-ways on. You’ll thank me in the long run. Dude I love how absolutely blunt and upfront you are in your videos. I’ve binged watched your vids all day today. Can’t get enough. Whatever u do don’t quit the trucking biz. Your talent is a whole lot better than mine was when I first started!! Looking forward to seeing more content from you!!! Keep on trucking brother! Gotta run that clock as lean as possible and do 3 month's on 2 weeks off to earn your worth. DMs will always give you subpar loads especially after a brake if you don't run lean and hard before time off, meaning only two 8 min bathroom brakes on your drive shift if that at all, trail mix for food and sleeping at the shipper if you get stuck there. Your clock tells the DM everything they need to know because they see that on thier screens. You'll be at the top of the board no matter how many weeks you take off they'll be begging you to come back early and give you the best loads because they know you'll run the wheels off that truck every time not just some of the time.

    When you have to fight the landing gear, push in the trailer brake to supply it with air and usually that will lighten up the resistance on the crank.

    No worries man, glad I could help. Also, I don’t know if Swift has the air suspension dump button but when you drop the trailer crank the landing gear down to about an inch off the ground then get in the truck and dump the air bags until the trailer lowers to the ground then pull out from it. That helps the next driver not have to fight with a trailer that’s too high and also helps tremendously with the fight against the landing gear

    for educational purposes you are supposed to lower the landing gear until you can barely fit your foot under the landing gear. then you lower your bags down, pull out a little bit until your tractor frame behind the fifth wheel is under the trailer. then stop. wait to see if the landing gear will support the trailer. then you can drive off

    Love your videos bro. I've been watching truckers on KZread for a while and your channel came up. I wanna be a truck driver so bad but I'm in the military for a few more years so I gotta wait. Anyways I live near antelope valley near the Palmdale Lancaster area where it's really windy most of the time and I've noticed on CA-58 or CA-14 where alot of truck drivers have a hard time keeping the trucks in their lane. Have you ever experienced the strong valley winds?

    Yeah gopro batteries suck. May I suggest buy a power brick to hook up to your gopro. Downside is you'll have a charger wire connected while it's on your head lol. Or if you can, mount the gopro to your dashboard while driving then put it on your head. Or get a tripod and stand the gopro up behind you. Anyway, a power brick will keep your gopro going for up to 4 hours

So I already have my CDL A permit, and I'm going to start trucking school (Which Cost $3K) next week in corona, CA but I'm still debating if should pay out of pocket n go to school or company sponsored school like swift? How Hard was the School? Did swift teach you in a automatic or Manuel truck? Do you have automatic restriction on your CDL A?

  • @Smith-qt4us
    @Smith-qt4us3 жыл бұрын

    Do they set your appointment times usually really far away? Is it because I’m new just sat on my first load for like 21 hours being early. Do you have to call up your terminal to get dispatched on your next load as soon as u send ur empty or do they do it?

  • @chez8239

    @chez8239

    3 жыл бұрын

    yes they give you a lot of time, in that case tell your DL you gonna be there early so maybe they can T-call that load so u dnt have to sit for that long, always update your dispatcher bro, soon as u send empty call they should be dispatching you for next load right away, if not send a freeform u have to bugg them most of the time, if they dont answer call them

  • @devinchapman8592

    Always call in otherwise they will waste the hell out of your hours. Even when accepting it out alternative drop for whenever u could be there and a lot of times they will send back with a call location or just tell u it’s just a drop and u can drop whenever. And never wait to be dispatched call in and they do it immediately

Tire tread depth- steer, drive etc. Try to be familiar with the Macros, but they give you a sheet with the answers basically, just fill in the blanks. Good luck!

    I took the Swift upgrade test three weeks ago, I was stressing, lol but it was easy. Study the macros on page 56 in the Mentor/student guide, they are all on the test. Know the swift speed violation (72mph). How far to look ahead when driving. 4 questions on trip planning. Leave HazMat paperwork on driver seat when you leave the truck. Know the macros to get directions (macro 23). I didn't do any crazy studying but I just read through the student handbook 2 times. Skip questions you don't know and come back to them later. That's all I remember. Good Luck.
