For the people thinking about getting into trucking. Do your research and see if your cities LTL companies hire out of school. You can do local trucking, be home everyday, and make great money!! It's the route I went and i'm glad I did. Part of me regrets not going OTR just to experience it, but sleeping at my house every night is nice!

Yeah it's not hard. The hardest and most dangerous part about trucking is backing. You just have to be extra focused and pay detailed attention to your surroundings and always expect the unexpected.

Good video. Here’s a tip. Any time it’s a Georgia Pacific load. It’s large pp rolls. Probably 9 rolls. Standard pickup will be Checking Drop trailer Bobtail staging area Hook back up Scale out. Once you do it. Then you go again. You’ll know what to do. Large carriers try to push out as much as they can on a driver. So next time. If you need to be home by the 11th. Ask for the 10th. Because there’s a good chance they’ll push a load on you to drop on the 11th. Then you can go home. And there you are hustling to get home. Hope this makes sense. Stay strong brother.

Big mistake.

They push to pimp out every delivery they can on a driver trying to get home for those few well deserved hours. I believe you have your head on straight by sticking to your plans of the FULL 4 days off....not the 3 and change.

Give you props man and respect on backing up the trailer. With less then one year experience.

@TM O. As a truck owner, I can take as little or as much time off as I want to. I know industry standard is 1 day hone for each week out.

Been to that plant several times, hopefully your not taking the same way back, think it’s hwy 20 that you can take out, the hwy you turn left on to get to GP, a lot shorter to i-5, just as hilly and curvey, and swift rarely gets a driver home when they request, its either to early or a day late, and it use to be they didn’t count the day you got home, they changed that several years ago, u also use to be able to bank your days off, but something you gotta deal with till you find a better job, and I may of found one, will let you know who and what it’s all about, I start the 19th

Long time, but happy it's back

I grew up A LOT on the Oregon Coast. That whole area is SUPER nice, but stupid expensive to live there in all of the areas I wanted to live in LUL

Look like a papermill it use to be one in my city along Lake Michigan almost wondering is that where they moved to those rolls are magazine rolls

my typical 14 is just drive for 8 then 30 min break then drive for 3 then I’m done for the day I always prefer rest areas than truck stop because theres always a parking spot haha thanks for watching and support I appreciate it ((:

Companies don't care. They can very easily get drivers home on time, but most feel they haven't used you enough for that week. lmao So they get you home late all the time.

The one time that it mattered they screwed me. My dad was visiting and I had not seen him in years. I was set to go home and they sent me the other direction. I only got to spend one day with my dad. I was so angry.

Was told in my trucking school by an instructor sometimes even if they gave you home before midnight on the date requested off they consider that getting you home on the day you wanted which is bs.

hey bro thank you for the sub (: and I highly suggest you get it through a private school it’s a lot cheaper vs $6k at swift and you dont want any contract trust me, atleast when you applied and you dont like the company you can just leave👍

@@chez8239 yes dedicated makes more than OTR. I think when I was OTR with Swift it was like $0.48 and dedicated was $0.52 but that was last year. But I still brought home at least $1100.

I used to work for Swift no way you have to do it if you need to be off Monday 11th you have to request time off two days prior to your day off the load you carry it is paper but they're going to cut it paper towels like the ones you see at school

I am starting to realize that the DL at Swift sucks and care less about their drivers and more about their profit and bonuses. Would you mind telling me (even by private dm) who your DL was at Swift. I have repeatedly told mine that I want weekend hometime and she just keep saying, I'll work hard that but make no promises. Love your videos, but i have to laugh when you newer drivers get upset about the GPS and other things, you guys would be totally lost if you had started driving say like ten years ago when we didn't have all the new gadgets, and the hometime any older driver knows you have to go east before you can go west LOL. welcome to the world of trucking
