@@glackaglack1534 I’m doing something else more productive with my time and energy. I’m making almost the same amount of money with way less stress and I’m home every night to my family. Also getting off the road helped me get my health back in shape so I’m no longer at risk of getting some kind of permanent disease. There’s no life on the road man it’s not worth it for no amount of money.

As an owner op with own freight, its a smart way to go as long as you stay on top of the details and have good customers. Trucking is up and down, been that way as long as Ive been driving over 3 decades.
Good for you bro 😎 I’ve been owner operator for while now owning your truck and trailer and getting your own authority is way to go wish you the best bro 😎

If you have your own authority right now and depending on brokers you are suffering, you need direct customers. Best to just go lease on to a reputable company and average 3k-5k aweek take home.

I was always a company driver, didn't want the hassles of owning/leasing the truck. As I had an ocular stroke last year and lost my CDL, they just sent a driver out to pick up the truck and trailer, I had no more responsibility for the unit.
Hey, greetings from Portugal, i'm an owner/operator, i do have 4 trucks working on construction/quary. Don't know the taxes and other expenses on US, but here, i do all the work by myself, i only go to the dealer wen i do not have proper conditions to do some kind of repairs, but i can say this, is the best ting you can do. Your truck, your rules. The most anoying thig for me is that almost every day, i need to do some kind of repair on the trucks, minor fixes, but still...
Hi Rusty! Gads Rusty when we had a floor load with Gorden, we had to unload and we had to match up every box with the right order number, customer just stood there and watched. Hey God Bless and been sending prayers up for you becoming a owner operator, your own business, Way To Go!🙃
Awesome video keep up with a great work and be safe out there.

We also have this situation in Poland: less freight offers for less money and very high oil prices. I'm owner of 4 trucks with trailers...and i'm happy that 3 of 4 of my trucks are mine and only 2 trailers in leasing. In my area there also suicide-trucking companies with 100 or 200 trucks with trailers and all of their fleet are leased...

We all have to make our choices. I still am glad I was a company driver and dodged most of the headaches. I would have HAD to have the cb and sold it at destination. Something in your video triggered an old memory. Seeing you again with the left leg elevated reminded me of this event. In the 70s we had the F model Macks. No options. A driver convinced the shop to put a foot rest on the lower side panel. I stopped by the shop and mechanic was adding another one. He said, once they (us) see it, everybody will want one, so I am getting ahead of them! Best of luck in future.
I'm going to miss your over the road vids, but I totally understand the situation.

The fuel cost has been killing my brother so I had s bright idea, my brother drives a w900 with a cat c15 so I said lets run the truck on aviation kerosene instead of diesel. Diesel fuel and aviation kerosene both have nearly identical btu ratings so there is no loss in fuel economy and the current price is averaging around $3.50 per gallon. Normally aviation kerosene is barely over $2 per gallon but with skyrocket fuel prices it has allowed him to regain some profits. The only downside is needing a lubricity additive but so far working out well and fuel is available everywhere.
There isn't much you can do with the price of fuel. The only thing I can think of is maintaining the vehicle regularly, driving no faster than 55 miles, installing an aerodynamics package from "FlowBelow" and a "Green APU". It may also help to only drive at night because there is no wind at night and the roads are clear. The diesel engine also gets more oxygen-rich and cooler air at night. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the tire brands that offer fuel-efficient tires. However, I believe that the tire manufacturers do not differ much.

@@jackiechan_wtf4041 That is unfortunately the case. Unfortunately, the most economical speed is in this area around 55 miles. You now have to find the right compromise for your business in order to drive cost-efficiently and not lose a lot of time. But you can also drive 75 miles, where you can then watch your fuel gauge move. It's just recommendations on how I would do it. Namely driving 55 miles on a windless night where the roads are also clear. I don't think that you lose a lot of time because of the open road.

I’ve been thinking about going with this company and doing their local/regional work for them out of Michigan. Their company seems to get a good rating over all on the internet. But just wish I could find someone who does their local routes and how it works for them. I know either way I’m taking a gamble but I’d like to start saving for my own truck and I feel like I could use this opportunity to do so.

Hey bro I like your videos I'm also truck driver but in Morocco.
Hey bro , you do a very good job with your videos ! Do you do your own editing? Are you going to be a company driver ? Or what’s your goal from here on out . I was considering doing a lease to own with a $400 truck payment . All in all they charge me around $1200 a week and that includes everything and then they charge me 12% dispatch fee , what do you think about this ? Is this a little bit better than what you were paying or is it still not worth it ?
i have semi truck bobtail parking at my house here in Tampa Florida
I never, ever, understood the logic of a forever lease. Payment for a truck, 52 weeks a year until you return it and then you lease another one....why? All the money that is leaving your pocket to lease is really stupid. You should already own it and pocket that lease payment as part of your income. Having a payment forever wont allow a "business" to survive market flucuations due to rate or fuel or w/e.

Have you tried the cold brew coffee[not to be confused with iced coffee] at Love's???? She's goooooood bra
I sold my truck 2 years ago,,from that moment i had been better i my profit are the same.😊
Where did you buy the back up camera?
Fuel price up, they are cutting cost in all directions. Not good. Good decision to quit, and start on your own.
I parked my truck in July 28 ,
Id have abandoned it if I were you with the load and all lol I self dispatch and I can't find freight anymore, its bad right now and idk where all the loads went but if the cargo trains strike then it will be good times again but you can't quit when it gets rough
Dude, UPS in Jacksonville is hiring drivers off the street. Just go work there.
hang tough buddy...get that Volvo on the road and the rates will be better..
How was the backup cam?
You could have carried your dash cam and a carry-on bag I don't go anywhere without a dash cam
Deuces to the middle man!
Owner operator have it bad or worse because if you didn't know cargo insurance is like $25,000 a year plus truck and trailer payments so when you add the expenses leasing is easier and better because maintenance is free

Bye rusty.....
at least the lease company will not have to worry about any wrecked trucks by you
I hear your old company just got 7 more trucks.
When you lease, your making them money, not you.. I open my company because I noticed the theft involved in leasing a truck to someone. At 2 dollars an hour minus diesel, you can still make more money that a company driver. The problem becomes if you have a new truck and payments on it, that where it kills you.
Good Morning Rusty Today don't lease don't buy because of what the brokers are offering now if I was you I'll work for a company right now

Anyone who’s actually been in trucking for more than 7 seconds knows there is a reason 99.99995% of leases are known as fleeces, the companies who do the fleeces just use the driver as slaves. If you actually do your homework and spend a few years driving you can buy a truck and actually have control of your business and your life
Gotta live and learn. All these lease programs fuckin suck. Best thing I did was get out a fuckin lease truck and brought a cheap volvo for 15k. No damn truck payment, don't gotta work hard to turn a profit. The amount of maintenance I've had to put in the truck the pass year is nothing compared to the 1300 a week I was shelling out when I was leasing. Just grossing 5k a week means a 3500 paycheck to my business, when I was leasing I'd only see 2000 to 1800 dollars out of 5k not to mention I get home a alot more, no more spending a month on the road. This leasing shit should be illegal its never in favor of the driver, if it was everybody wouldn't be offering. Best thing I ever did was buy a truck cash, I will never get another damn truck note again.
