Palestine Talks | Norman Finkelstein
Activist, writer and public intellectual Norman Finkelstein speaks candidly about his early upbringing in New York City - raised by parents who were both Holocaust survivors - and how that has led to his tireless pro-Palestinian solidarity work, including his “forensic scholarship” of Israeli criminality and the related abuse of Holocaust memory.
Towards the end of the discussion, Finkelstein offers important though difficult advice to those who embrace “the values of truth and justice,” which - as he alludes - are ideals that do not come with any significant personal "reward".

Yes I believe it. Unfortunately, people who watch only mainstream media news, believe all the lies, and also don’t see what is actually happening. These folks are absolutely ignorant of being witness to the genocide of a mass population.
When it comes to the moral clarity , values and truth of course Professor Norman Finkelstein is my idol , BTW I’m Palestinian and I don’t wonder how such a great human being like Professor Norman faced the whole materialistic western world by sticking to the truth and defending the oppressed people of Palestine . Just imagine that I’m Palestinian and have never been in Palestine , I’m denied from because my parents were expelled from Haifa - Palestine on 1948 my dad was 10 years old and my mom was 5 years old and they’ve never seen their homeland after that , they’ve passed away few years before and until the last day of their lives they were talking about how beautiful Haifa city was and how desperate they wanted to return back to it . Sir Norman you’ve been and you’ll always remain in every palestinian’s heart , we never forget the support you extended to us by your great work and the remarkable dedication to Palestine cause .

I don't have to say how much the world admire Dr. Finkelstein, but I want to praise also to the host here, what a humble, well-spoken gentleman, who is showing how to conduct a proper interview. Thanks!
As Scott Ritter said recently, ‘if October 7th hadn’t happened, the people of Gaza would have experienced October 6th on repeat forever’. A life in an open prison, treated as filth, forgotten, abused and left for dead. Now the world can see and feel their plight and understand who the victims are in this horrific conflict. Thank you Norman for all you’ve done. Free Palestine.
Perhaps these lines will vanish in time, but it doesn’t matter I will post them anyways. As a citizen of the global south (Chilean) I have the highest admiration for Norman (respectfully) as he is one of most sincere and honest intellectuals I had the pleasure of following and learning from. I admired him with the same conviction I do of my father, a former Union leader who recently passed away. My father was an enormously precious figure in my life. He never compromised his convictions, gave his soul to humanity, particularly to those most in need. It is in that spirit that I salute you Norman. You're definitely not inadequate. You've been a consistently bright light on this issue from a time when it was not only unpopular to speak for Palestine but also quite dangerous. I know you're humble enough to not overstate the loss of your own employment because of your Palestine advocacy but it's a testament to your moral clarity, integrity and fortitude. Norman, I am glad that you're the first person from whom I learned about Palestine 16 years ago because it showed me that there are conscientious Jewish voices who acknowledge and respect the humanity of Palestinians. It also taught me the value of dedicating our time to judiciously learn facts instead of looking for shortcuts for likes and views on social media.
There should be a Norman Finkelstein Institute for Truth and Justice, a think tank and educational institution dedicated to supporting all those who wish to study, teach, publish, record, and rectify historical and contemporary conflicts and to spreading that knowledge. The fact that the academic world, at least in the United States, is so indebted these days to big business is a big part of the reason for campus censorship and the notorious "Palestine exception" to free speech in academia. Thank you @TRT World for this interview, and thank you Dr. Finkelstein for your's life's work which has contributed immeasurably to the Palestinian cause. And even more than that your integrity and dedication to truth above all are unparalleled, an inspiration to millions, even if you don't realise it.🙌🙌🙌
Norman Finkelstein for so long fought this battle in the US almost entirely alone, with the exception of professor Chomsky. Only complaint is that I wish it were longer. Norm needs his time so I get it though but his wisdom is really important.
WOW! Thank you TRT for producing this insightful interview with Norman Finkelstein! I have recently been following him, triggered by his "debate" on Piers Morgan between Finkelstein and Dershowitz. Your interview with him really was helpful in better understanding his background, how he came to what he sees as his vocation, and just the sense of really caring for him, what he has dedicated his life to and is so competent in doing, being the gadfly to the horse, like Socrates. And to Norman: thank you for sharing what has shaped your life and some of the specifics that set your focus on who you have become and what you chose (or chose you) to write about and to go out and fervently speak to. And thank you for sharing about the 1%, those who chose the spiritual values and the price that is paid for going down this path.
Even Norman's 'inadequate' response, is in comparison to almost everyone else, the response of a titan. The impacts of age are overcome by the wisdom gained in the decades of intense study. I made similar choices as a young person to align myself with truth, and justice, and the costs of that are very real. I have no illusions of fame or fortune, but at the end I will be able to say that I never sold out my principles. I salute all of my comrades who are doing the same.
A bright intellectual with a great sense of justice, human rights, courage and political conviction.
The humility and the knowledge Norman emits is so calming. I wish I had teacher like him. You are the best Norman. Thank you for standing for Truth and Justice and never falling for fame and fortune. Would not have guessed my favorite technophobe was working with three monitors 😅 Can't help but think how the moment he was "shattered" by the truth about Mao parallels how shattered many of the true believers in the right and might of Israel will be once they're forced to reckon with the truth, and realize that everyone who disagreed with them wasn't an "antisemite" (or as Finkelstein said a "petite bourgeois"). Until then, the Palestinians and the rest of the world will continue paying a high price for their education.

Finally, an interviewer with the good sense not to impose his will and simply allow this brilliant man to speak. Thank you.❤

Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, another pro-Palestinian advocate, who has been fighting for Palestine's liberation for YEARS & was wrongly fired from CNN bc of it, also just lets Norm speak when he interviews him as well bc Marc deeply respects Norm ❤ If anything, Marc only asks questions he knows Zionists will use to try and discredit Norm so that Norm can educate us how ridiculous the Zionist narrative is FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸
It's upsetting that they cut it multiple times throughout the video because I'm genuinely interested in listening to anything Norman says. Can you please upload the full interview?
What a strong voice for the voiceless unfortunate folks of Palestine. You, sir will be among the first people to be invited to visit the Free Palestine one day!

Thanks you to the people who brought this interview and of course thank you to Norman Finkelstein for being a leading light of truth and justice. I found the end particularly moving. We must all re-double our efforts for the sake of the Palestinian people and for truth and justice!
Norman Finkelstein needs to be heard by everyone. His knowledge is very important. He is an International treasure.
Norman, is in a different class altogether. Qualities like Integrity, honesty, self-awareness, truth telling and solidity always comes to my mind every time I hear him.. You feel that you can believe every word that comes out of his mouth. Norman, you have done your courageous contribution to the history of this unjust conflict. As you have said, no nobody knows more about it and the lies told by Israel than you. And that is a gift to humanity that you leave behind. Thank you.
as a muslim .. this man making me cry every time i listen to him ! appreciation is an understatement ! the empathy he have .. the humility .. the knowledge ! he said one time he dont believe in god i hope he reconsider it ! i really wanna see him i not in this life then in the next one ! thanks Mr. Finkelstein

Yes my brother . This intellectual giant, Prof Ilan Pappe, Prof Norm, Prof Alvi and all others bring tears to my eyes
His regrets bring tears to my eyes. It’s like when Imam Ali feels his efforts towards his spiritual efforts towards Truth and Justice were inadequate for his capacity. If that’s how he feels, where does that place us? So much legacy to fulfill… so much struggle to endure.
Ty Norman Finklestein for being available so often for media talks🙌🏽
most under appreciated scholar on Israel and Palestine. Humanitarian through and through.
The great Norman Finkelstein, will be remembered as a man of character and integrity, so few of them are left, unless I am going to the worng places and not finding them, it's the whole human world.
I am glad I came across to watch this video. Special thanks to the interviewer who let the professor speak without interruption and just quietly listened. You have no idea what a rare quality it is these days!
Regarding what Norman said at around 38:40 As far as I am concerned, while he may have less strength than when he was younger, his knowledge and wisdom are probably reaching further than he knows. I for one seek out his interviews to learn from him. I have already learnt from him, and as long as his interviews remain in the public domain I will encourage people to refer to Norman Finkelstein to learn. I highly respect what he has to say. Thank you Norman Finkelstein. He is contributing a considerable amount to the modern record of all this.
Norman. I just watched this interview. My husband and I admire you enormously, and agree with you. Much love from Ontario, Canada.
Norman inspired a new generation, he must be proud
Norman. If you ever see this, I want to tell you that I have been following you for quite some time. I deeply admire you for your intellectual contribution to the Palestinian plight. Keep on Keeping on May God be with you and protect you.
I have watched many interviews with Dr. Finkelstein, but this is one of my favorites. I’ve already watched it twice. Thank you to the interviewer for the questions asked and for giving him time to respond.
Wish they hadn't edited this so awkwardly, kept cutting him off like mid-sentence. Just play the whole interview.

Listening to this man is a treasure. So lucky that I was alive when this person was alive to show me what it means to stick by something even if you are standing alone. At the end of his life, he is a well respected hero. He might as well wear a cape and red boots. Meanwhile others who were high in position and power are now devoid of credit or prestige or integrity despite their wealth.
Wonderful interview. Norman restores faith in humanity by walking his talk. He is in fact a deeply spiritual figure whose works inspire thousands if not millions ❤
I am grateful for the day I met Norman Finkelstein in sea wonderful and essential work relating to Palestine. He fully represents me as a fair and true human being. Stay with us and have peace in your spirit. Your contribution is enormous. Be happy to be alive and take care of yourself. Great affection in your heart.🇵🇸🇧🇷

Reminds me of Eichmann
Fascinating insight by professor Finkelstein. God bless Thanks for sharing ❤
I am very grateful for this conversation and i would only want to offer the comment that of course what we all do individually is inadequate to the moment at hand but what we do individually ricochets and enables and magnifies what others therefore do. My own small contribution to the struggle for Palestine is greatly helped by the steadfastness and clarity of vision and thought you offer and - whilst I understand and empathise with the feeling of inadequacy - actually what you are offering is inspirational and greatly strengthening to many people, myself included, who you will never meet and never know. Stand tall, never stop and Free Palestine
It’s really heart touching to hear Prof. Finkelstein after spending 42 years of his age supporting and advocating for Gaza and its rightful case and now he thinks he is inadequate!! Sir, what you have done deserves a medal
I love this man and his mind. Is amazing his ability to remember, argue and have such self-awareness.

This man literally devoted his entire life to the Palestinian cause. He will be that tiny spark that will always shine in the realm of darkness for future generations. Though he is a mere human, he reminds me time and again of Hazrat Moosa A.S. (Moses) who, in spite being born in the family of powerful Pharoahs, stood by the oppressed tribe - Thank you Dr. Norman for your existence.

I feel so very honoured to have the pleasure of being able to learn this great man at this point in time. A great time in history of human kind. I look at you sir with awe and outmost respect. You are what evolution of mind means. What every human must strive for. We’ve stopped evolving in mind. 😢🇨🇦💕
Mr Finklestein, Everything you said in this interview, I firmily believe, will become a part of the history that future generations will study. Thank you for what you have given to the world and most especially to the current youth of today, because they ARE leading the fight to transform life on this planet for all humanity. I believe the youth of today will see an end to all wars in their lifetime! ( I am 66 years old and i have never been hopeful about the future of life on this planet until now)
Norman I love you for your sacrifices for Truth and Humanity. It's not ironic, but deeply saddening that Gaza is like a 21st century Warsaw Ghetto
Thank you for all you have done. Live well. Live to be a hundred, please.
I just realized thanks to what Norman Filkenstein has just said, that since I was very young, I always fighted for the truth and justice ! I lost many friends who were fighting for fame and money! Today, I’m still the same !
This interview made me cry. Thank you, Norman. ❤
