James O'Brien meets Bassem Youssef | LBC
In 2011 Bassem Youssef was a little-known heart surgeon in Cairo. A year later, he was hosting his own political satire TV show, Al-Bernameg, drawing in 30 million weekly viewers as he made fun of the Egyptian regime. Bassem's comedy was groundbreaking but it proved too controversial to remain on air. In 2014 he was forced to move to United States, where he has since had to work to re-establish his career in a new language. Now, he's back in the news thanks to an explosive interview with Piers Morgan on the conflict in Gaza, which went viral.
Tickets for his latest tour, The Middle Beast, are available at livenation.co.uk

Maybe you should study the history of the conflict more & learn about the legal rights to the land involved. And learn who started all conflicts between the 2 sides. The Palestinians were fighting with the Ottomans from the late 18th century onwards for their own land...there are newspaper articles about this...why don't you research the Palestine Exploration Fund set up in 1865..learn about the land, the history, the culture, the different tribes and all the people that lived there before Jewish rejects came from Europe and stole their land and tried to re-write history. The biggest fallacy in History, is that Israel belongs to the Jews, the indigenous people of the Levant were the Canaanites, they are not Jews and have no connection to the Jews, no surprise that DNA testing is illegal in Israel, The Jews came to Israel 3000 years ago from Iraq and Syria, and at a time when there was many conversions to Judaism, so the pale skinned Israeli's that make up the population of Israel do not look Middle eastern and are certainly not indigenous and many are historical converts, from eastern Europe and the USA ,I would like a brave Zionist to argue and counter these facts with me, in fact I would relish it

I'm sorry but what you are saying is not shared by any credulous historian or geneticist, i'm afraid. Conversion rates among diasporic Jews happened at a rate of 0.5% per generation during their history in eastern europe. DNA studies show both Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews to be predominately mixed levantine and southern european (italian in particular) the former as a consequence of mostly male Jews being taken to the italian peninsular in Roman times and for the first few generations, out of shear neccessity, they took local brides. After that first levantine-italic contact, a sort of hybrid eastern mediterranean admixture came about, similar to modern day Greek or Sicilian populations. Shouldnt be a Surprise that the average jew looks a lot more like Al Pacino than Vladimir Putin. This of course still makes them partially european genetically, but from populations much closer to levantine folk than slavic people's of Poland and the former Russian Empire. Due to jewish endogomy this admixture has continued until modern times. Some northern/eastern european DNA may appear consequentially in some individuals but minimally. On top of this half of Israel's Jews today arrived from Arab or muslim majority lands and have had zero to minimal european genetics. Please don't just take my word for any of this, a quick Google search will bring up various verfiied studies, it's all out there. Last thing, i'm not a zionist but i believe truth over rhetoric is important. You don't need to resort to this sort of framing to criticise Israel, just stick to the facts there's enough to go on.
@pmoran7971
13 күн бұрын
@@jamesemmerson4112 James Thank you for your courteous reply, however you seemed to have overlooked my argument that Jews are not indigenous to the occupied territories, you make no mention of the Canaanites, neither do you dispute that Jews arrived 3000 years ago in what is now Israel, even Zionist Historians do not dispute this, because they can't, please respond, and regarding conversion to Judaism, the Khazars must also be mentioned, this is a 'hot potato' and Zionists downplay their importance, a couple of other points worth mentioning, it was the Romans that gave Palestine it's name, and the modern day Palestinian flag was first used in the 1930's, which puts an end to Palestine never existed, all best

I've written to my MP several times about this and its shocking how little he knows, or how badly he gaslights.

@@jake751 He didn't tell people to vote for Johnson. He just didn't like either choice on offer.
The thing I love about this guy is that, while most of us are perfectly willing to internalize and even justify idiocy for the sake of political expediency, he's like the child in court who inconceivably blurts out the truth and says that indeed the king has no clothes. And he does it with a disarming lack of artifice, which, for someone in the public eye, is a really hard thing to pull off.
Well done James for the bravery of getting Bassem on this platform. In war the first casualty is the truth.
Love that Bassem is making the rounds in the UK and with one of my favourite media personalities in James. Fantastic interview.
Two of my heroes and my favorite humans on this planet. I admire and respect both of these men so much!

Sadly, that seems true of many who ascend to powerful positions. Dogmatic belief in ones own infallibility, inevitably leads to an intolerant attitude towards those with a different point of view. Purists are often humourless, angry demagogues...regardless of their political, moral or religious affiliation.
Thank you for having Bassem on. I know he didn't choose this path, but I'm glad he stepped up. A lot of us have had our eyes opened, and appreciate hearing sane voices break through the "narrative".
The bigger you become of a celebrity, the bigger the expectations, the pressure on you - to make change, to say what people want, to target the people they want to target. Bassem Youssef
I'm only really just starting to learn about Bassem so an interview with JB is the perfect way to get more acquainted with him.
James.... I hope that you get more views then Morgan did for chatting with this incredible guy. ... In this interview both people have honour and credibility, instead of just one.

Its very childish. He optimises middle Eastern thinking (as opposed to western). He is incapable of holding a different point of view in his head and understanding things from different perspectives. He instantly dismisses opposing ideas as they don't align with his own.
