Even back in the age of steam there were few engineers who took pride in blowing the whistle as an art one example was a former seeing oh engineer who got to be at the throttle of Chessie 2101 who is referred to as the greatest whistle man in the south I forget his name but when 2101 was on the return trip of the excursion on Sand patch grade he blew the whistle in a spectacular fashion while working against the brakes and a 10 mile restriction giving an impressive stack talk it’s mentioned in the documentary about 2101 called The Train To Everywhere

I know right why can't we have wigwags with gate mechanisms like that This is a custom signal made by the Six flags and Texas railroad Consisting of a magnetic flagmen company wig wag and bracket mounted on a Western Railroad Supply double Pole gate mechanism this crossing was originally an railroad bridge with a underpass pathway until Boomtown depot was relocated to its current location in 1997 According to the railroad staff it's the easiest wigwag out of the 2 wigwags signals on the railroad to maintain The wigwag at the shockwave crossing is a little bit difficult it rarely ever works at all but it has been repainted on all of the parts all the signals have been re painted you only thing that's not redone is the crossbuck sign on this wigwag at boomtown

Love wig wags, they should come back just like in the past. More attention and beautiful operation. Flashers do not make many people stop at all.

Yeah, only tourist Railroads and RailRoad Museum’s allow wig wag crossing signals the only main line railroad where you can see wigwags operates is the Santa Cruz big trees and pacific railroad on the street running section of town, there are a couple of wig wag signals still operating.

Six Flags Railroad and Boomtown crossing and TexasRailfan21 Channel update: For those who don't know Good news the Six Flags & Texas Railroad is back in service with the General Sam Houston Making her debut just in time for Holiday in the Park. The Boomtown crossing has got a new change with the installation of Pedestrian type gates which will be repeated Black and white. The reason is after many years of service the Wooden Wishbone A Frame type gate wood was starting to deteriate And therefore they were replaced with gates made of fibreglass but despite those changes everything on that crossing including the wig wag signal is working flawlessly. Due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19 I can't go to Six Flags right now but don't worry I will be back there to Railfan starting next Spring 2021 when I will be getting an all year Season Pass. I want to say a special thanks to all my followers and Subscribers for all your support to my Channel TexasRailfan21 until then I will be railfanning at other places mostly I'll be out the capture Fort Worth and Western Railroad Action at Walton Ave Crossing off of Granbury Rd in Fort Worth Texas as well as Railfanning on Trainz A New Era and Update videos on the build of my Santa Fe and Pacific Grand Valley HO Scale layout Stay safe stay well and stay tuned for more railroad entertainment

I'm sorry that you feel that way I truly am You should come to Six flags over Texas once the park opens backup and the railroad reopens To be honest the railroad has been shut down because they replaced the old aquaman splash down ride and now because of Covid-19 the park Hasn't been open that much And the railroad can't run because part of the track is dismantled it has to be relayed differently because the new ride is in the path of the old grade hopefully the railroad will come back soon
