This is one of the last crossings with a mechanical bell in Parker county the only other place is one Crossing in Aledo Texas and what appears to be a safetran crossing Bell in my hometown of Weatherford there was once a dual crossing on Main Street with Texas and Pacific style Highway flasher median signals and two gate signals with mechanical bells sadly in 2017 a train derailed at that crossing destroying the entire northside I was able to catch the functioning southside one more time before the crossing had to be upgraded the highway flasher signals were replaced with median gate signals

This video is now a memory sadly this engine suffered stripped gears that connect to the train wheels so as a result I ordered an exact locomotive with one major difference the pitch of the whistle and Bell are lower than the one I operated previously here is a link to me running my newly acquired engine and as a bonus I hooked up my crippled engine without its wheels on to test out the sound if you listen closely you can hear the stripped gears clicking kzread.info/dash/bejne/pq6XtaSMgc6ce6w.htmlsi=PJalkzotxVUIV8E2

Thank you I believe I shot these videos in November 2023 that very same day I got to ride spike for the first time it was on its last run before it would be taken to the facility until the evening rush-hour the last passenger stop would be northside before it would deadhead back to the facility near Hodge yard but I boarded Spike at T&P station and got off at Fort Worth ITC where I spent the morning that day

I’ve never seen a railroad crossing that had gate signals but no bells I’ve heard of crossings with highway flasher signals that had no bells but this is the first time I’ve seen gate signals without a bell I truly think it’s slightly a hazard to safety drivers won’t be able to hear the signals and the gates can come down without warning I had to keep an eye on the lights as soon as I saw them start to flash that’s when I started recording

My O scale toy trains all wore out, but for my Christmas village, I got a good deal on two G scale ones. Then, I got a good deal on a royal blue Scientific Toys loco just like the one in the video. The person who sold it to me didn't know how to refill the smoke, so this video was a big help. The smoke, the sounds, the light, and the two guys on the train (conductor and coal shoveler) really set these apart. I hope it lasts for years.

Here’s an interesting fact about this wigwag have you ever wondered why sometimes it’s working and sometimes it’s not? The Railroad modified it with a timer to only activate at certain times of day which prevents its electromagnetic mechanism components from wearing out to allow time for the Wig Wag to rest in between its timed activations

@@vmotati10 I have not been in Frisco since I made this video the only wigwag I have seen in recent times is the wigwag gate signal in boomtown at Six Flags over Texas it activates at certain times of day and other times it doesn’t work at all that’s because it’s rigged with a timer to keep all the parts of its electromagnetic mechanism from wearing out the wigwag crossing at shockwave no longer operates as all of its internal components have been removed

That’s nice to know that they found a way to get the CPH units to pull more than three coaches, although I’m still not sure if they’re planning to completely replace the locomotive fleet with ones like the Geep.

Hate to break it to you, but they made literally millions of these locks. Safetran, RACO, WRRS, and other companies made a variation of this lock. They are a dime a dozen. That hex key is the end of a broken railroad terminal wrench with a ring welded on it to put on a keychain. They are everywhere and still in use today.

20:10 When you have a trailing locomotive, the air on that engine must be cut out (box checked). This stops the trailing loco from releasing the brakes (pumping air into the brakepipe) when the head loco is trying to apply them (let air out). Happy railroading 👍
