Hi Brad. I found one of your wig wag captures. Freaking awesome to imagine that there were some still around and in service 13 years ago. It was great to meet you today. Thank you for taking the time to chat. Stay safe. James.

After the line’s abandonment I’m hoping that these wigwags were preserved in someway in a good museum something is distinctive as the retractable banner type wigwag signal is very cool especially that the wigwag banners are still the original red color versus the white and black that came later

Great catch Brad. I was very surprised when we caught this in London at Denfield Bridge yesterday.

@bradpville yes we caught 438 on its way into London. We were wondering why it was taking so long for it to return back headed to Windsor. We figured something was up. I guess it was worth the wait. LOL

@crazeejay2006 I cant believe this much power was on the run. Did you catch 438 in on the same day? I believe it was just a GP9 as the lead unit.

That’s what every crossing does. It’s safer that way.

Trains probably ran faster through here when the track circuit was built. The track must have been speed derated. Makes sense considering the route was eventually abandoned.

I'm guessing this was filmed near Tilbury on the Caso Subdivision. The wig wags were removed that same year. If these were on the Caso Subdivision then that would mean these were the last wig wags in Canada. And there is under half a dozen left in use in the U.S. Mainly in Wisconsin, and in other Midwest states. But there is a pair on Colorado that is in the middle of nowhere still being maintained properly. So there will be at least 1 in regular use.

The reason why the my had the door open the front of the train is that it’s to hot and they need to open the door so they can get air
