ORDNANCE LAB CHALLENGE: Armored Mobility vs. Claymore, Grenade, M855, Explosives & Molotov Cocktail

Ordnance Lab goes to town on Armored Mobility Inc.'s TAC3S body armor with a Claymore, M26 grenade, M855, .308, a shaped charge, a Molotov Cocktail, more M855, and finally 1lb of high-explosives.
Our expertise is in international arms dealing and explosives (plus oddball historical trivia), not body armor. So none of these tests should be taken as "scientific" or whatever else. Also reviewing the video, we need to yammer on camera less and get to the point quicker (ADHD isn't all fun, games & legal meth). So we'll work on that for future videos to keep them a bit shorter.
As always with everything we do, don't do this at home. Explosives and explosive weapons can have Darwinian effects. Plus making explosives without "bootlicker" accessories like a Federal Explosives License, is a great way to meet your local law-enforcement officials and get an insider look at the criminal justice system.
If you want to see more of this type of stuff, donate to our Patreon account here / ordnancelab
If you are an armor manufacturer interested in taking the Ordnance Lab Challenge and putting your products up against explosives and explosive weapons, hit us up on Facebook or email us at info@ordnance-lab.com. We can also do R&D on all types of weapons and explosives, and recreate threats found on the modern battlefield such as IEDs, landmines, RPGs, EFGs, and improvised mortars.
You can find more info on this plate and Armored Mobility's other products here: www.armoredmobility.com/Produ....

Fun fact, he pronounces it correctly. Here in America we actually pronounce it incorrectly. We stole the English language and made it different and added slang. Using the word aluminum and the pronunciation is different from American English to say British English. You know the British kind of were the originators of the English language so we actually pronounce a lot of words incorrectly. It's ok common core is a crap way to have kids learn, I'm sure you didn't know better.

Nah but nah. As a paramedic, that individual with the first blast was experiencing cardiac tamponade and heavy lung contusions and hyperbaric injuries. Human bodies are not made of rubber. Almost certainly intestinal, liver and spleen lacerations and spinal injuries too. So not survivable.

I hate being the know it all, but M855 is not an armor penetrating round, but rather a barrier penetrating round. It's made for punching through walls and other barriers to attack enemy personnel behind them. Against armor it's no different, perhaps even worse, than a standard cartridge.

“Anybody and their brother’s got a .50 cal” if they’re that common then that’s why you should test it 😂. Frags are cool and all but between the shockwave and multidirectional shrapnel a single plate isn’t going to do all that much when the rest of your body looks like Swiss cheese. The plate being able to stop a .50 is more impressive since it’s a greater mass, spear point, and going as fast as grenade’s shrapnel. Overall, not really the most practical test, though I’m fairly certain you guys just wanted an excuse to blow stuff up lol 😂 which to be fair is great content for youtube.

This just isn't what this channel is about, if you want a .50 go to demo ranch, these guys have the means to legally blow shit up so that's what they do

AGermanGoose plus we all know a .50 is gonna go through it. It’s an anti material round so that’s pretty lame

    How about M193 from a 20"? 30-06 black tip?

We can def do that. To be honest, it wouldn't do much as the plate survived the shaped charge which is a far more penetrating test. We can def try adding it to the testing though.

M193 from a 20” barrel only works against level III steel plates, from all the testing I’ve seen. UHWMPE, and especially if it has a ceramic strike face, defeats lead core rounds pretty easily.
