Claymores, Shaped Charges, Thermite Grenades, Flash-Bangs, Det-Cord, Oh My!
Ordnance Lab discusses some of the explosives and weapons featured in our other videos and what they are typically used for.
Almost all of the items featured in this video require bootlicking (aka a "Federal Explosives License") to legally acquire without getting visited by various federal, state, or local law-enforcement agencies. We encourage you not to break the law. Though the world is your oyster, your ass could still end up being used as currency in federal pound-me-in-the ass prison.

This video makes me realize I got into the wrong line of work, and that I’ll never get to try some photo shoot ideas involving detcord lol
Thermite grenade- It is destructive but does not explode. The ATF regulates it as explosives, but not as a destructive device. Yep, that's the logic I expect...
I graduated from Army Engineering OCS. We had a lot of fun with explosives....felling a tree (tank trap), cutting steel girders...one was stuffing the bottom of a champagne bottle with C-4. It could burn a hole through a tank’s armor plate....

This was very interesting and informative. Rare to see anyone explain about these types of items in such an easy to understand way.
Loved the video man!! (May or may not be coming from a sophomore AP chemistry student who hypothetically may or may not have synthesized a few ounces of PETN and blew up a few pumpkins last fall)

I agree 100% on the claymore (used in ambush). If located properly and the actual number of casualties produced by it is low, it is the flash-bang of the battlefield. It will surprise, shock and disorient the enemy. It is also like blowing a whistle to start the play. Whether set up with a trip or manually fired by an operator, it's explosion is the 'Go!' for everyone that this action is now active. Great video! Yall take Care, John
Really like your channel. I hope it grows. Quality videos.
Man, I love your channel guys! I would love to see a collab with Smarter Everyday to see Detcord detonation underwater at 100000 fps

Regardless of political restrictions and viewpoints. You guys are phenomenal at what you do and I admire greatly your courage to be honest and transparent, within responsible parameters, about such an awesome and contentious subject. Keep on being you.
New sub here. Im interested in seeing the dog and cat. I see nothing wrong with a little meet and greet 😃

What do you use to detonate Det Cord? Logically, it seems like you'd have to hook it up to some other kind of "cord" that doesn't explode, and some sort of Clacker-type thing to set it off, right? Thanks, always have wondered.
So, these things are actually your furniture accessories? :)
Great video
I heard of zip cord. I was wondering if you can do a video on it?
I've always wondered. Is it possible to create shaped thermite strips using clay as a buffer layer? So that when it's lit, it goes right through whatever surface it's applied to first and creates a shaped hole like something out of Rainbow Six. So it could be laid out on a steel door and then discharged to cut right through? I'd think it would probably end up rather thick and difficult to handle, but possible.

Hmmm..... interesting idea. Def with looking into.
I got a question about an explosive called AP putty have you ever heard of it?
Can you make a shaped charge out of low explosives like gun or black powder or would it be ineffective compared to normal shaped charges
@jlambuth
4 жыл бұрын
I mean, you could make the shaped charge device but it wouldn't perform as desired. BP lacks the detonation velocity and sufficient impulse to generate an effective explosive jet.
Other than nitro' based (like TNT / dynamite), How many explosives have a shelf life ? . . . & Do you ever (customers too) have to dispose of expired goods ?
@NapoleonGelignite
3 жыл бұрын
Military explosives have a long life - RDX, TNT, HMX etc. Commercial explosives have a shorter shelf life- PETN, gelignite, dynamite, blasting gelatine, ANFO etc (PETN is in between dynamite and RDX in terms of storage life).
It’d be cool if you made a review of iwa flashbangs there not nearly as powerful as real ones but they’re pretty cool for like airsoft and other recreational activities.
I love that Dynamite Nobel is still selling explody things. They make my cap and ball caps.
How is a thermite grenade not considered a DD? According to the definition in Title 26, an incendiary device is a DD.
But how do I get a license for the Enola Gaye sd75
No 155mm artillery shells?
The dog and cat should be in every video.

Ahhh, claymores. The only way I could reliably get kills on Battlefield 4. I maybe the worst gamer ever. In my defence, I only really targeted snipers, because, you know, they’re the worst.
cool
Theres me thinking Nonel was HMX and Al powder, not PETN....👍
What about the marine smoke grenades you can buy just about anywhere that sells boating supplies? Just curious cause they go on sale by the cases and they are pretty cool orange smoke
@Swiat34

With smoke grenades, it’s all in the initiating fuse as far as the classification goes. There’s a new company called Patriot Gear and Smoke that are making military-grade smoke grenades in mil-spec-looking bodies but the fuse is such that it isn’t classified as a destructive device. Check em out!
@GodsGladiator

Swiat34 interesting info thank you!! The ones I was mentioning have a pull to initiate which I thought was cool. You pull they make a pop sound and 3ish seconds orange smoke comes pouring out. I’ll have to check those other ones out too.
Can I work for y'all please
I am still baffled how ATF considers thermite legal- you can have as much as you want- since it is not an explosive... but when a termite grenade is the item it is considered explosive... I am guessing it is because of the primer that sets it off that it is considered an explosive... because from what I have heard- termite is fairly unregulated because it is an incendiary. Bringing the term "destructive device" in is- as you pointed out- much more paradoxical- when they don't consider it as such.
You guys are that awesome Facebook page right?

Why watch a video. I replay live footage every night when I go to bed. Or try to go to bed. Ironically it's the explosions that keep me up at night, not the killing of the enemy or the cracks of live rounds being fired at me.
What do you use it for? Fun. You use it for fun. Otherwise you're clearly doing something wrong.

Is it responsible to have a KZread channel to teach people how to use explosives? Especially at a time like this in America? I hope you reconsider this channel and the lives you may assist in taking. I don't care about your politics. I love guns, fireworks, and explosions, but it is probably far safer to let professionals handle them. Highly doubt most of the people here watching are doing it for professional education. Consider removing your channel, I'm sure you make enough money selling explosives and blowing stuff up, sounds like a fun job. Do the country a favor.

Not quite sure what videos you've been watching. All I've seen is professionals detonating explosives in a controlled manner and explaining the legitimate uses they have. Any of the things that you CAN make yourself are things that you can find videos on literally everywhere. No one is making in depth tutorials here on how to synthesize semtex, just professionals using explosives to answer interesting questions.
