So he knew his friends and ex were going to manipulate him to get back together, fell for it, had a breakdown because of it and then decided to get back together anyways. Congratulations OP, you successfully let yourself be manipulated back into an unhealthy relationship. Except this time they’re even worse people then you knew before.

I shouted out “f**k you!” when he said he got back together with her. Why the hell should I bother caring about OP if he has so little self-preservation that he’d get back with someone who drove him to attempt suicide?! At this point any harm sue causes him in the future, and she WILL cause him harm again in the future, will be his own fault. “Fool me once”, and all that. Seriously, OP really pissed me off. I stopped listening to the story right then and there.

Story 1 I don’t think the moral of the story is that the friends were monsters or anything like that. I think people need to know that romcom or sitcom relationship schemes aren’t a good idea for real life, especially not with a person who has had trauma and has deep scars from that trauma. They were ill informed people with good intentions, but you know what they say about the road to hell.

In the second story, even if OP's daughter wouldn't have had her eyes and hair darkened, lighter colors are the received genetic trait. I've heard about a pair of very dark Latin parents who ended up having a daughter like OP's, freaked out the nurses, until the dad showed a group photo with both of the baby's grandmas (his mom and his MIL) with their blond hair and one of them with blue eyes and the other green. To this day they make jokes with friends about doubting if the little girl is biologically related to this Latin OP's wife to get a look of shocked confusion as the people they tell process what they're saying. There's also the fact that the White OP in the story here and her ex might both be carriers for an albinism gene, which would completely overwrite any other coloration traits their daughter would have gotten from either parent. This time, a Black mom had a meltdown when her pasty white baby was put on her chest and it wasn't until her MIL piped up that her husband had an albino second cousin that things started to get sorted out. On another one, a White woman had an affair with and got pregnant by a black man; her marriage was saved by the resulting son, the OP for the story, ending up born with an albinism trait on display. The problem is when he got married, got his wife pregnant, and his son wasn't born with the same trait, he nearly torpedoed his own marriage because he was accusing his wife of cheating until his mom fessed up and provided paternity results to prove things, especially when OP's mom started pointing out structural features in common between his face and his "dad's" Black best friends, OP's biological father. I'd say that these cases are why just looking at a baby's displayed features isn't the best way to judge, and why if paternity is in doubt, lab-processed testing is always the most expensive, but also the most reliable.

Story 1# I have no words for how F-ed up the story is with angst, emotional manipulation, harassment, gaslighting, peer pressure and a slew of other things that is wrong with the GF and her friends and all of this done for months as well. I feel the ending was a huge let down, what with the friends and GF putting OP's life at risk and almost got him killed and in the end got rewarded with OP finally surrendering to their demands to return back to his GF and play "happy" friend group again. The "friends" may feel "guilty" for almost getting him killed by mental breakdown, but I do feel that they all still took advantage of it to make sure that he got back with the GF!!

Feels so many people I know have stumbled into this once. The raw !nsanity of the moment creeps up on you like a horror movie and at first it feels like reality isn't real? Like... No, they're not actually... What? No. They wouldn't do that... I think after it happens once you get SUPER wise to it and run like your @ss is on fire if you even smell it on the wind. But that first time it doesn't seem possible until it's really happening and you're surrounded with it.

Dude sounds like a coward. That being said, his "friends" are worse. The whole episode was them being selfish and then coming back to make themselves feel better.
