Old Handmade Knife Restoration - R.J. Knifemaker

This old handmade knife restoration was something new to me. The soft steel outside of the blade and harder on the inside, plus the blade does not go all the way thru the handle. It was interesting disassembling for sure. After successfully disassembling I did usual stuff, sanding, cleaning and polishing. Finally, at the end I assembled the knife and enjoyed in testing the old handmade knife.
By the way the knife’s blade is marked with R.J. I am quite sure that those letters are initials, but not sure exactly who could that be! Any bell rings to you, please write in the comment section below! Thank you!

Indeed just needed a little refinishing work as it looked to be in good enough shape. The blade just needed re-centering? In the handle once it was restored to new

Obviously a “laminate,” just like Mora & others produce in new product today. Before arthritis took my dexterity and they fled the scene together, I had a wonderful carver/whittler, Mora made. It’s now in the possession of a fellow Army Veteran who uses it frequently! Anyhow, you Sir ARE a magician with your traditional ways and tools (tho adapted to the 21st Century), and your lite, artistic touch! Long life & prosper, I’m enjoying the heck outta your vids. Please DON’T change a thing, unless you acquire a foot treadle powered lathe - it might allow you more flex in what you fabricate... I❤️the channel! 😁👍❗️

Could be! It is often here in Norway that knife maker stamps own initials. Sometimes is hard to guess who made it. But this one looks clumsy and unprofessionally stamped, so you might be right! Thanks for watching 😃👍
