    For those of you who are confused, in general Obeka gets around cards that say "at end of turn" or "at next end-step" and cannot get around cards that say "until end of turn". The difference you are really looking for in cards is those keywords "at" and "until"!

    I would also like to add that it's worth checking erradas! Back on old cards, including the old version of Sneak Attack, cards didn't always have "at the beginning of the next end step" and instead just said at "end of turn." Since then, many of these old cards have been errada'd!

    A good self mill card, imo, is Forbidden Alchemy. Look at the top 4, pick 1 card, add it to your hand, and put the rest in the grave yard. It an instant, it cost 2U to cast, and 6B for flashback. You could also throw in nephalia drownyard for some more self mill and it's a land.

    May I suggest autumns veil and veil of summer You’re trying to combo blue players and or other players might try to interact … while it’s just 2 cards it’s still 2 cards that if you have ATTHE TIME might save your spell from being countered Also seers sundial actually is playable in this deck (it’s not top tier but play able ) With seers sundial in play and anything that turns lands into creatures, commander and ashnods alter. Sacrifice creature land get 2 mana. Land creature hits graveyard gets returned because of the commander it enters and sundials trigger hits the stack use the 2 mana to draw a card….all this does is draw as much as you Choose you then stop it and then sac for mana for the found combo piece(s)

    Really casual idea I got instantly when Obeka was spoiled is to abuse Myriad trigger (thought there's only a few creatures with Myriad and blade of selves to give Myriad to any creature). The myriad creature are not the greatest but the army would grow exponentially. The only thing to keep in mind (if I understand correctly) is that in order to keep your myriad token, you will need to end the turn at the end of combat once the sacrifice trigger is on the stack. you don't get your 2nd main phase and you have to be careful if you play ''until the next end step'' as it will trigger next turn.

  • @nbblerxc

    @nbblerxc

    2 жыл бұрын

    I know this is a year late, but myriad doesn't work well with obeka since it says at the end of combat. even if you end the turn before the end of combat your turn, the next player will still have an "end of combat" and you will be forced to exile the tokens.

  • @clanechelon

    @clanechelon

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@nbblerxc i am not a judge, but I am fairly convince that if you end the turn with the myriad exile effect on the stack, it will not be recuring on future turn.though this means you end your turn before your 2nd main phase Edit : reading myriad effect again, the token do not gain the ability "exile at the end of combat". It is rather the end of the myriad ability. I dont see any reason to believe that you would exile the token on future turn assuming you ended your turn with the exile effect on the stack at the end of combat

    Nice video! Just one technical thing - with Kroxa you said to put the discard effect on the stack and then the sac effect - you actually have to put the sac effect on the stack first and then the discard so the discard would resolve first and then you could end the turn before the sacrifice effect resolves. Cheers!

  • @CommandValley

    @CommandValley

    Oh yep, that would be the correct order! I guess in my mind “put on the stack first” means “put it on the stack to resolve first”. Good catch!

    about psychic vortex: if they go to remove obeka, you can inresponse end the turn to save her, they have to do it on their turn. this is one of the commanders 'm looking forward to building along with Yorlok of Scorch thrash and Ghen, Arcanum Weaver. I'm gonna build a Ghen, Arcanum Weaver curse deck. then you curse someone untill they die, then bring them all back and plae it on the next person. I think Ghen and Obeka are one of the first I'm gonna build from this set. Zara, Renegade Recruiter from the new set is also really good, she steals creatures from defending players hand when she attack. you have to give it back at the end of turn, but you know, you end the turn and oops, its now yours. I would also put Kozilek, the Great Distortion in there, its only 12-13 $ and it doesn't shuffle the grave back in like the other titans do. Desolation Twin is pretty brutal, it's under a dollar. Marchesa, the Black Rose is also something to consider, that way your creatures are a bit more resilient to boardwipes.

  • @NeophilusSubcult

    Underworld Breach is definitely a great card, but it does not get very much extra utility than in any other deck. That is, because it doesn´t say "at the beginning of the NEXT end step", but just "at the beginning of the end step". So while you can save it during your turn, it is very hard to keep around for a full rotation, because it tries to sacrifice itself at your opponents end steps as well.

    I'm confused about the whole "end of turn" vs "beginning of the end step", because I'm told cards that have effects that trigger at the end of the turn can't be dodged with Obeka, but everyone's including Last Chance and other cards that say "end of turn" and not "beginning of the end step"

  • @CommandValley

    @CommandValley

    3 жыл бұрын

    The confusion is understandable and I think a lot of that is in part because many of the old “end of turn” cards have been errata’d to say “beginning of the next end step”, including Last Chance. End of turn doesn’t get stopped by Obeka, but anything that says end step can be responded to while those triggers are on the stack, exiling them before they can take effect. Overall you just need to be careful about what has and hasn’t been errata’d. Checking the Gatherer or Scryfall is a good resource. - Peter

    My question is if Obeka doesn't stop " end of turn" abilities, why does it say directly on her card "until end of turn" abilities end? Kind of a moot point if the older cards have been errated or not. She has the exact same wording as Sundial (withe the exception of whose turn could be ended) and no one seems to have had a problem. Just seem to make things a bit more complicated then they have to be in some of the comments.

    The reason why you can stop that from happening is because it is a trigger that will only happen on the next endstep, so if you exile that trigger on the stack then the trigger will fizzle and never check again! If a card said “at the beginning of every endstep” then it wouldn’t work! Hope this helps!

    I think the point was that the target would be a creature on the battlefield that you’d want to exile. Not necessarily an Eldrazi; that was just an example of a powerful creature that you’re most likely going to target if it is on the battlefield. But it could also be someone’s commander to set them back a turn, or something else that is threatening you. Plus, it’s repeatable every turn. Hope that helps! - Peter
