Actually Larry David never claimed the show about nothing he pitched it to NBC "this show is about a comedian trying to make it in New York"

This channel was the channel to go to for Critic episodes in the early 2010's

It's more like about "nothing important"...I always assumed that's what the "nothing" meant.

It's a show about the minutia of modern life. The thing is that when people just indulge in life's minutia and people ask what they did, they say "Oh, nothing". So, in that way it's about nothing.

I wonder if the Nostalgia Critic will ever talk about F.R.I.E.N.D.S?

I saw Seinfeld as poking fun at what people would say about the show. Almost embracing it's criticism and even putting it into the show

I always thought "show about nothing" meant, "no 'big lessons' learned" at the ending of the episode, no matter how big the "events" that occur in the episode might be. What "happens" in the show, is not necessarily what the "show is about" or anything like that. I don't sound hostile, do I? I'm really not in the mood for a long comment section fight...

I too also wondered why people called Seinfeld a show about nothing. Unconventional for its time? Yes. But definitely about something.

When Seinfeld is promoted as "The Show About Nothing", they don't actually mean it's the shown about NOTHING. What did you expect, to turn on and just be watching a black screen for 20 minutes? It means that there's no overall point to the show, no morals, no purpose, it's just looking at the little social issues of life and making them into a big thing. I take your point that other shows did this, but the main point was that it was a show about the little things in life, like The Office.

Larry David (has co-written Seinfeld with Jerry) is the biggest genious there is, if you like Seinfeld and don't know about Curb your enthusiasm then get ready for some really awkward wanting to make you stab yourself comedy show going mostly about nothing and little misunderstandings turning into atomic bombs.

One word: Maron. Great kind of show similar to these.

This critique doesn't make any sense. Being a show about nothing doesn't mean it's unpredictable or unstructured, and you just spend the rest of this video harping on that strawman. It's called a show about nothing because there's no point to anything that happens. It is nihilism incarnate. Other sitcoms of the era would teach morals and focus on bonds between human beings. Seinfeld is a show about sociopaths incapable of forming meaningful relationships in a world without purpose.

I know tons of people love it, but I could never get into Seinfeld at all... I tried watching several episodes, and just got bored every time. I never understood why it appealed to so many.

The only episode I got into was the one where it ends with George got his girlfriend in the episode pregnant. What was messed up is in the next episode as far as I saw she doesn't come back and nobody mentions it

Being about nothing means that it doesnt matter if the first episdoe you see is the last episode or the first episode you wont be confused because there is no real plot

It's actually the 3 Act structure, not axe. And yes, stories are typically broken up into three acts that each fill a part of the story: Exposition, Rising Action and Climax.

I was just a little drunk at the time I suppose, been a while, but now it's getting interesting! Climax and then resolution and rising action throughout, or rising action and then climax? Convince me which is better!
