    Despite their flaws, the Star Wars prequels had a lot of 'FUCK YEAH' music. The theme that plays in (I think) the Darth Maul fight was pretty damn awesome if I remember

    Both duel of the fates and battle of the heroes are two of the best pieces of music John Williams ever composed. Not just in Star Wars, but in his entire career. Period.

    Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings) is my favorite film composer. There's so much more depth to the movie scores than was shown here. Every culture and place has its own theme and they all blend together so beautifully. The music is perfect and is one of the main reasons I love the films so much.

    hehe... teared up a bit at Back to the Future. It's still my favourite movie of all time. It's the only movie I can think of where I would not want to change a thing. The sequels where good as well, but nothing compares to the magic of the first one. I saw it in theatres when I was only 6 years old, with my dad and 4 brothers, I don't remember much from that viewing, only that I loved it. Then dad bought it on VHS and I watched it so many times I lost count. Still watch it at least once a year. And you are right about the music, it's just the most epic theme you can imagine. Love it. Good list btw, I enjoyed all of these, especially the Conan one was surprising to me, I have watched that movie many times, but never really though about the music, good catch.

    He forgot to point out that the Superman theme and the Indiana Jones theme sound similar because they were both written by the same guy, John Williams, who also wrote the music of Star Wars, Jaws, E.T., Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter. Quite the successful dude.

    Jason Zhao Just did. (kzread.info/dash/bejne/gHyZmLmdk8iZpto.html). Max Volume too. Slow, subdued french horns and violins. Granted, it's a bit more "up" than the full song's intro, but compare it to the songs on the list. They start out with bangs that get you out of your seat. MORTAL KOMBAT! or the hammering beat of the terminator. These songs start loud and fast, they're all about throwing you into the action. Slow epic music like Jurassic Park or Inception lets you take in the atmosphere. Which makes sense, since the imagination that went into the worlds in JP or Inception is worth being awed over.

    Metrion77 Do you not feel a tingle of satisfication or awe? Granted this may look a bit dull compared to World, but take a look at the big reveal scene in World and you can just feel the goosebumps on your skin. Songs dont have to have a fast tempo to make you excited, take man of steel the first variation and you can still feel power radiating from the peice. Kingsman's use of Pomp and Circumstance wasnt that fast yet it still felt very fitting and sounded glourious.

  • @Metrion77

    @Metrion77

    Jason Zhao Awe and satisfaction? absolutely. But people fall into your seat with your jaw on the floor is not "stand up with your teeth clenched and shout fuck yeah". Mortal Kombat is not an impressive or epic song, just 80s synth and people's names.

  • @OstianOwl

    I would have also included the Godzilla theme in this. That theme pretty much comes in two parts: the first part sounds like what you would hear accompanying a massive monster stomping through a city and the other part sounds like the anthem of a fearsome warrior. I'd say that makes it a pretty fitting theme for the King of the Monsters and the perfect theme to get you excited to see Godzilla beat the hell out of whatever kaiju is dumb enough to stand before him.

    You know... Star Wars had a couple F*** YEA moments in its music. Like, right after Akbar says "Its a Trap!" And the music blasts out with violence as the Imperial fleet is revealed and the battle begins. I DARE you to watch that scene without feeling the epicenes of it! But I also agree that Lord of the Rings had more goose bump-inducing F*** YEA moments.

    My favorite movie themes are for the most part from Ghibli movies. My favorites among those are the Castle in the Sky theme and the Princess Mononoke theme. They just give me chills! Castle in the Sky is so calming, but then fades over to something absolutely epic! You can't help but feel like it's dragging you into a world of beauty and adventure. Princess Mononoke makes you feel calm, wonder and beauty, and I can't help but be quiet whenever I listen to it because I don't want to ruin anything about it.

    I'm actually really surprised the theme from Predator didn't make it on the list. Every time I hear that kickass theme when seeing that scene of Dutch stepping off the chopper and lighting a cigar like a total badass makes me go, "oh yeah, Arnold's here and he's ready to kick some ass!" There's also other great themes in it (and Predator 2) like Billy's last stand and when Dutch is prepping for the final fight against the Predator. Also, I love both Elfman and Zimmer's work on Batman. I always think of the 89 film and Animated Series when I hear Elfman's theme, but I give Zimmer credit for delivering a great score because he made it his own and didn't try to copy Elfman's work (he would also do the same with Man of Steel).

    I don't remember M : I 2, very well, but I like the part after Ethan gets the current mission, throws the message glasses at the screen in slow motion and they explode was pretty cool. Every pick with Lord of the Rings sounded exactly the same despite how tense the scenes were. While the Terminator theme was pretty good, moreso with T 2, as the robot skeleton approached the screen, and the theme intesified, and ended with those glowing red eyes, epic sequence intro to an epic movie, sequel or not!

    It's a pair of fairly standard action films, neither of which ask interesting questions, or really do anything that hasn't already been done in the Star Trek universe in terms of plot devices. Also, new Kirk is too young to be a captain, and he doesn't really act mature enough to be one either.

    Joseph Glatz interesting questions in the old star trek movies? like which one? the old star trek movies were just shit. except TWok and Undiscovered Country. First movie: Voyager 6 comes back to destroy mankind. Second movie: great vilain with heroic sacrifice for the better of the ship Third movie: smash everything TWoK has build up Fourth movie: like first movie rework. but whales have to rescue mankind fifth movie: the official standard scaling of bad movies sixth movie: actual exciting seventh movie: actual boring eight .. : borg with time travel ... again 9: 1.5 the final frontier 10: just no Then the reboot after some terrible movies. 11: a good movie that had action and a story 12: cool movie and a great Khan ( personal i like Cumberbatch very much)

    Number 2, 4, 6 ,and 8 were good, and number 1, 3, and 10 have salvageable characteristics, suffer more from issues with their execution rather than their concept. (1 needed different cinematography more than anything, 3 needed a better villain but is essentially a decent though not outstanding film, and 10 needed better pacing and less action). Don't tell me you didn't enjoy the Borg in First Contact. First Contact was a very enjoyable film to watch,( very suspenseful, great villain, good pacing, impressive special effects) even if it didn't offer much in the way of new plot lines. So far with the new films, they've re-worked the them to be more like standard Hollywood action fare. The 2009 film had a pretty standard plot (bad guy vows revenge and wants to blow up Earth, and Captain Kirk and the Enterprise have to stop him.) The moral is essentially "follow your gut, be yourself, and teamwork" nothing terribly original there. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the 2009 film, and I'd say it's about as good as First Contact. Into Darkness however doesn't understand what made the TWoK great to begin with. Having a good bad guy was one thing (the JJ Abrams films are very well-casted if you ask me), but the space battle is just the standard "David and Goliath" affair that we've seen dozens of times already. TWoK had two evenly-matched ships facing off against each other, leaving it down to wits and experience to determine the winner. The USS Vengeance doesn't allow for this. Also, new Spock gets pissed off and emotional too frequently for my tastes. Sure, I know he's half human, but it's not a Vulcan's DNA that makes them logical, it's discipline and frequent meditation, which Spock would be doing, so he should better manage his emotional outbursts. And don't introduce immortality and technology that makes starships obsolete into a series that's about a crew of a starship, it will cause problems. Sorry if I rambled, hope that makes sense.

It starts slowing down to a steady pace but picks up slightly, only slowing down once more, giving you a warning about the awesomeness lying ahead, then BAM!! One of the greatest themes ever! John Williams did a great job of putting action, suspense, and danger in one song, and don't get me started on the Astroid Field scene.
