Norco Sight Review - 2020 Bible of Bike Tests

Спорт

Traditionally an endurance rider’s enduro bike, the new Sight gets more travel and some pleasingly mature trail manners-but may sacrifice some of the climbing prowess it once boasted. Find the full review and much, much more at BikeMag.com.

Constructive criticism, I learned more about the Sight on the Hightower review than here, the discussion of the name vs intended use within Norcos lineup should have been addressed more quickly.

It's the year 2020 and bike manufacturers have finally decided to make bikes that go up and down and are appropriately sized for adults.

Thanks for the review! I was feeling like i might have made a mistake buying the 2019 version Sight 27.5 with less slack geo, but now after this review I am very glad I did....want something more trail oriented, better climber. Replacing a 2016 Norco Range that was pure hell to climb with, looking forward to a bike with playful/poppy feel and wont rob me of power as much. Got an amazing deal on black friday clearance week sale online.

I'm assuming the review was on the 29" version. The review mentioned it wasn't super poppy, but more of a steady roller. Any chance you could compare it with the 27.5" version? I've only demoed one 29" bike, and I did find it to have less pop as well, so considering this is available in both wheel sizes (a rare thing these days), I'd love to hear how the two compare in feel.

Unfortunately any of the common sizes and 29ers ( which are i think becoming more popular) in the "affordable" builds are not going to be available for months. Way to stoke your potential customers without having enough bikes to sell... i was super excited because i got an early demo of a C1 29er and was blown away. I've been saving my nickels and decided I'm not the kind of rider who would benefit from a top of the line build. My lbs contacted Norco months ago and was told the A2 29 I wanted would be available at the beginning of the year. Just checked today, shipping is estimated in may now even though the same bike inladies colors are available and all the 640bs in that color are available. Not sure what a good excuse norco can have for this. This might get me to reconsider after 2 decades what brand bicycle to buy.

FWIW, my carbon frame only was set to arrive in early February. I chatted in, mid December, and they had just received a shipment. 7 days later I had my bike together. I'd use the chat feature to check stock, if I was you.

Everything functions properly kzread.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of KZread. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!

Completely ignorant question here. Would a fox forty fork on a 27.5 (s) sight be recommended or even considered. Barley getting into this sport and this Norco is what I’m wanting for my somewhat one and done bike. Won’t happen but I’d like to get my first build close to it.

Size specific chain stays are kinda bs... They make the chain stays way longer on larger sizes. If a bike company wants to make a bike with 425mm chainstays on a size large, there is no way to shrink the chainstay for a size small, 423 or so is about the shortest you could go on 29 i think. So size specific chainstays can only work on bikes with really long chainstays.

It's not about making the stays smaller you wally. It's about making them proportionate to the front triangle. If a company wants smaller chain stays on a Large, then nothing is stopping them.

Not sure if you're a tall rider but Im 6'3", on a normal XL bike my centre of gravety is quite far back from the BB. Changing the chain stays is HUGE for those if us that are tall. Everyone should be in the centre of the bike not hanging over the back when seated

SMH, did you guys do any research before filming this? It's not supposed to be a 'Trail Bike'. They are marketing it as 'All Mountain' and the Optic is now the trail bike. It's not that hard to understand, and you have unfairly rated this bike against the previous years models. Take the name away and talk about the actual characteristics of this bike compared to the category it is NOW in, not what it is USED to be in.

If you're even remotely concerned about weight you really shouldnt be looking at this type of bike, in fact if you think 33 pounds is heavy you really are demostrating how much of a noob you are. Man I had a 60 pound downhill bike 19 years ago that I could ride with no issues. My current entry level 2018 dualy trail bike weighs more. Stop trying to seem 'cool' by making such stupid comments.
